Oak Haven Family Campground, Wales, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

When we called to make a reservation at the above titled campground, they lied about three things: 1. Said they had Dish Cable Service for all-Did not have Cable service. 2. The site we had was to be Pull Through it was not. Very limited pull through sites. 3. The site claimed to have sewage "full hook up "it was not. We had water and 30 Amp. (" barely") electricity. The biggest problem was the claim of sewage hook-ups. Even when they had a two-section system one for gray one for black. Neither worked. When my husband went to the main office to inquire about the issue with the sewage, he was received by a young man, who was cocky and blew him off., he said that they would take care of it by pumping out our lines. We waited one full day. When they arrived the machine only pumped out their holding barrel, not our rig! We found out that in actuality they do not have any REAL SEWAGE hook ups. Each permanent resident that stays full time gets pumped out once a week. A very bad thing to claim if you do not have full hook up. What they have is a hole - its surrounded by rocks where the grey water is supposed to leach though, some have 55-gallon barrels with them peppered with holes to let the grey out. Black water this hook up is only a 55-gallon barrel and when it is full it is full. When we release the black water into the hook up we always flush it out with the gray water so nothing icky is stuck in the sewage hose. If you turn on the microwave with the air conditioner running EVERYTHING WILL SHUT DOWN. What I can say good about this place is that the full timers take pride in their camping are and it is extremely neat and clean. The full timers are very nice and accepting of any new comer. This will not be my first pick next time in the area. We camped at Oak Haven Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

All are nearbye if you study your map before arriving.

Beaver Pines Campground, Woodstock, Connecticut

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed during a rainy time of bad weather. So many trees that you feel as if you are in a cave at the campground. Hard to maneuver any rig bigger than 28 feet long. Hook-ups worked but needed maintenance. Not a lot to do, Sturbridge Village near by that is it. You have the Nipmuk woods , it might interest some. However the owner is very friendly and extremely helpful, It is a family run campground. Many areas office ,store , are on the "Honor" system, however when in need the best way to reach someone is from the cell phone number they give you. The office registration area is often empty not anyone there to help you. There are many seasonal campers, but they are very friendly and helpful. During tornado warnings the owners said to go to their basement , did not have to help us but did. Quaint old fashion style campground. We camped at Beaver Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Sturbridge Village is closest attraction about 16 miles away. The closest civilaization is Souuthbridge Ma. It says it is in North woodstock, but in reality it is not. North woodstock is about 15 miles away from the campground.
