Bear Lake North RV Park, Saint Charles, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Well kept campground. It was the week of July 4th so was full. Sites could have been mowed but the common areas had been mowed. The sites had gravel pads but not long enough to accommodate the larger rigs so we had to level our rig on the grass which was a little soft. Tent sites along the south side were shady with fire pits. However the parking for those sites made it difficult to negotiate our rig out. Luckily we were able to back up and get on the road out. Owners were very nice. While Bear Lake was beautiful, recreation was pretty much for those with boats/jet skis. We found no place to fish from the shore or have a picnic. We did drive around the lake to find more tourist activities at the south end. The road down the east side of the lake was under construction with pilot cars and surfaces down to the bedrock. There is a small string of souvenir shops where you turn to go to the lake. They also have a drive in and small store for basic supplies. We camped at Bear Lake North RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rock Creek RV Park, Twin Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park next to Rock Creek which allows for convenient fishing. The back in sites had lawns while the pull throughs had crushed asphalt. It has a day use area and when a party got rowdy the camp host intervened. The drive down into the park was built before larger RVs and thus a little narrower than we'd like. The same was true for the park exit with the addition of potentially having to stop on the hill for any incoming campers. We camped at Rock Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

A trip to Shoshone Falls is a must see. Also park at Best Buy to get the best view of BASE jumpers if they are there. We happened to see them on the bridge and quickly headed to Best Buy to watch the jump. It's about a 90 minute drive to Craters of the Moon and worth the drive.

Ambassador RV Resort, Caldwell, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was friendly and helpful. Long site with extended concrete patio and picnic table. Young tree provided some shade but not to the picnic table so we rarely used it. Great OTA televsion stations. Many permanent residents but sites were clean and mostly around the perimeter leaving the pull through sites open to travelers. We camped at Ambassador RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the dredge in Sumpter and eat at Mad Dog's Saloon. Baker City is 20 miles away with fuel and fast food restaurants. Visit the Chamber of Commerce just off the interstate for a great overview of the area. Oregon Interpretative Center is extremely well done and and an easy day trip from the campground. We also visited the museum across from the city park.

Hood Park - COE, Pasco, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Another great COE park. The entire park was well maintained. Bathrooms were cleaned every morning and they mowed and watered the grass every week. Nearest convenience store/gas station in Burbank less than 5 miles. Laundromat in Burbank only had one working washer so we went into Pasco. We camped at Hood Park - COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Silver Beach Resort, Naches, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

It was difficult to maneuver our 40' 5th wheel into the site due to large trees in front of, beside, and a trunk behind it. There was also a slight drop off on the opposite side from the trees. The site was extremely uneven; we had to use 6 orange leveling blocks and it still was not perfect. The site next to us was also uneven. There was about 2 ft out the front door before the slope started. The fire ring and picnic table were on the opposite side and was downhill to reach. There was no OTA television and limited service on MiFi for wifi. Office/store hours were erratic. There is a nice little store towards Naches. Laundromat is in Naches. Several seasonal homes on the center loop. We camped at Silver Beach Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Evergreen Sportsmen's Club, Olympia, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Showers/bathrooms are rarely used but management unlocked the women's. Good water pressure but I did clean the shower floor before using it. Several sites are in the open with easy access but no trees. We chose a grassy area in the trees. There was lots of room to maneuver and get close to the utilities. This is a busy sportsman's club with trap shooting and a rifle/pistol range so be prepared for the noise. When the range was closed however it was extremely quiet and peaceful. We even watched a few deer graze not far from our site. We camped at Evergreen Sportsmen's Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Wapiti RV Park, Lincoln City, Oregon

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Since we were there for a week pre-season there was only the maintenance man onsite. The manager checked in occasionally and we were there 2 days before we paid her. This park was formerly affiliated with the BPOE (we were offered an Elks discount). There is a large screened in community room and 3 smaller ones with heat and small kitchenette. One was used for a birthday party while we were there. It may have been a day camp or something similar before becoming RV park. All sites are back in around a huge gravel parking lot. OTA was nonexistent but free wifi was one of the best we have seen. There is a huge grassy area behind the sites populated with Canada geese and one evening a herd of elk. It would have been a good place to let the dog run except it was too wet. We camped at Wapiti RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Carl G Washburne Memorial State Park, Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a FCFS park so we had our choice of sites. There were several sites long enough but obstructions across the road made backing into some difficult. We did not have any interaction with the camp hosts. No cell service, wifi or OTA channels. The beach is easily accessible across Hwy 101. You can hear the roar of the ocean. We camped at Carl G Washburne Memorial State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Friendly RV Park, Weed, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was friendly on check in and the escort to our site knew exactly how far to pull forward for our utility hook ups. Wifi was excellent but only 4 OTA channels with no networks. Management offered to let me borrow a cable so I could watch the Final Four. The laundry room was clean with 2 washers and dryers. They were not coin-op so for $2 you could manage the dry time. Intended as only an overnight stop, it was easy to extend so we could see a couple of the nearby sites. We would definitely stay again if in the area. We camped at Friendly RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Weed is an interesting little town to explore with few shopping opportunities. A big Petro truck stop has propane and easy access pumps for RV's. We drove up Mt Shasta as far as the road was open. There's a very interesting Sculpture Garden honoring veterans past Lake Shastina.

Silver City RV Resort, Minden, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Most of the 200 advertised sites are fulltimers but are separated from the transient sites. They were clean and well kept though so did not look trashy. The park is under new ownership effective March 1, 2018 and the website does NOT reflect what is available. Formerly a Passport and Good Sam park, no discounts are offered. The gas and diesel pumps were being removed while we were there which made it a little tricky to exit the park. The park map they hand out also has the GS logo and the office hours listed there are not accurate. The convenience store and activity room are not available after the office closes at 6:00. When you take over a business, it seems all that should be in place or at least noted on the website that changes are coming. I wonder about those people who made reservations prior to the sale whether the discounts were honored after March 1. There was some confusion at check in whether we had paid for the site and it took 3 employees to figure it out. The gentleman who escorted us to the site was extremely helpful in explaining where the various facilities were which no one in the office had done. He also checked with us the next day to see how things were going. Otherwise the sites were large with plenty of room to park our truck next to our rig. The rig sat on concrete steps while the rest of the site was gravel. OTA was great but the wifi was not consistent. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Beatty RV Park, Beatty, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This rate is at the monthly rate then add electric at .12kwh used. Parking looked a little odd because the sites were all pull through and staggered in the two rows but everyone managed to get their rigs in and out. Sites 1-12 in the front row were of course the easiest to maneuver in and out. Two unisex bathrooms were large and clean and included the showers that had ample hot water and pressure. The laundry room had 3 washers and dryers with $1.50 to wash and 50 cents to dry but that time was not ample so I had to dry the loads twice. While it sits on Hwy 95 heavily used by truckers, the traffic slows down at night and was not very noticeable. There are also wild burros across the highway you can see and hear at all hours. OTA was nonexistent and their wifi was spotty. We were warned about each when making the reservation so we were not blindsided by the lack of those amenities. Both staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. We camped at Beatty RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Beatty is a small town with little to offer. Two gas stations and one only accepts debit cards. The Family Dollar carries a good supply of cold food in addition to their standard supply of dry goods. That is the only place to buy groceries. Another campground in town advertises a "market" but I didn't find much there. There is a nice local museum with Rhyolite, a deserted gold town, and Death Valley as easy day trips.

Fletcher View Campground, Humboldt-Toiyabe NF, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Being early in the season we were the lone outfit besides the camp hosts. They were very friendly and helpful. The site we originally reserved was not user friendly in that we could not successfully back in a 40' rig due to trees across from the site. The camp hosts helped us change our reservation so we could have Site 1 which was much easier to back in. The downfall to the campground was the narrow one way loop at the end that you have to maneuver through to turn around and exit the CG. We were there 2 weeks and saw other smaller rigs come in with no apparent problem. The CG is at about 6500 feet and we did wake up one morning to 4" of snow. Host was out and plowed the road and shoveled a path to our door. We would stay here again only if we could get site #1. We camped at Fletcher View Campground, Humboldt-Toiyabe NF in a Fifth Wheel.
