Lakeside RV Park, Livingston, Louisiana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This was a beautiful and immaculate park. We stayed one night in a pull through space. We did not need to unhook our vehicle from 5th wheel. Plenty of length but only a strip of grass between spaces. While this park is extremely nice, it is more for a relaxing weekend than a one night stop. It was a bit of overkill for one night and pricey. All in all I would recommend this park if you are up for some R&R but as a one night we probably won't stop here on our next trip through. We did not have picnic table nor fire rings at pull through sites. We camped at Lakeside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sunset RV Park, Sunset, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night at this park while traveling to a destination. The park was not fancy but it was nice and fulfilled our needs. Our site was level enough that we didn't need to unhook our truck from our fifth wheel. Little restaurant close by could walk to. Easy on and off entry from road. Convenient. The park could use a little work but we would stay again and would recommend it for a one night stay. We camped at Sunset RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Corral RV Park, Dalhart, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight in this campground for one night while traveling to another destination in our 5th wheel. We found the service outstanding! We got lost due to construction in the area and the host stayed late and talked us in. The sites were of average size either plenty of room to leave our 5th hooked up to our truck. The park was obviously well cared for and spotless. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it. We camped at Corral RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great Sand Dunes Oasis RV Park, Mosca, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This was the last park we stayed at on our Colorado adventure. The best thing about the campground is it is very close to Great Sand Dunes, which is very remote. It was a decent campground though sites were close. There was not much of a dog walk area But the dogs did fine with what was available. During our stay a wind storm unexpectedly came up and the staff was very helpful in dealing with it. What the park lacks in aesthetics it makes up for in location. For that alone we would stay here again and can recommend the park. We camped at Great Sand Dunes Oasis RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We had anticipated staying one more night to see everything at Great Sand Dunes but did not. The dunes are fascinating but the park is fairly small unless you plan to do the road that requires 4 wheel drive. Please note we are your average retirees and hike a bit. If you are an avid hiker or biker this park may require more than one day to see. We felt one day was adequate. Just a thought...

Haviland Lake, San Juan National Forest, Durango, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Our stop here was for one night on the way to another destination. It was a beautiful setting in the woods with a lake and would have liked to stay longer because it was so nice there. Everything appeared to be in tip top shape. The turnoff to the park is not well marked; it looked more like a driveway to the farm located at the entrance. We were a late arrival and there was no one to check us in. We have done that before and it is no big deal and very easy. However, the rates were not posted and they should be. We relied on a previous RV Reviews rate and that was what we paid. We were gone early and did not get to discuss if it was correct rate. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Haviland Lake, San Juan National Forest in a Fifth Wheel.

South Rim (NPS Campground), Black Canyon Gunnison Nat'l Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were pull off but fairly easy to get into though be careful of branches. Branches need cut back a bit and we scratched our 5th wheel on them. Overall we found this a good campground for viewing the Black Canyons It was very basic but nice. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. We camped at South Rim (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Monument RV Resort, Fruita, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

We truly enjoyed our stay at this park. Sites were decently sized and pull through. Staff was very helpful and professional. The park and facilities were very clean and tidy. There was a small dog area. It definitely needed be larger as there is really no where to walk dogs. Fellow campers were all friendly; this park appeared to attract that type of clientele. It was a bit pricey but is very close Colorado Monument so the convenience made it worth it. We would recommend this park and would definitely stay there again. We camped at Monument RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Estes Park Campground at Marys Lake, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We missed the turn off because it is not well marked. By the time we saw it we were too late to turn in. Our 5th wheel is 32' and our site was a back in for a 35'. It was an extremely hard back in. There was a drop off in front of many sites, ours included. I doubt a bigger unit would fit. We did not enjoy this campground and will not be returning. We camped at Estes Park Campground at Marys Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $60.00

We truly enjoyed our stay at this park. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The park was in good condition and well cared for. While I read the comments on the higher price, we felt that the convenient location was well worth the rate. We would definitely recommend this park and should we return to the area we would stay here again. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight and found the campground in good order. Great dog area that gave our big "boys" a chance to run. Sites were nicely sized. Staff helpful and friendly. I noticed comments about road noise but that is to be expected if a campground is convenient to interstate. It's a trade off for convenience and noise was not at an unreasonable level. We travel this route often and will definitely stay again. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
