Fort Massac State Park, Metropolis, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is another beautiful Illinois state park. We got in past dark and had to leave early the next day so didn't get to explore but wouldn't hesitate to stop there again. No water or sewer at sites so we used the bath house. The water in the ladies' side never got past lukewarm, and you had to keep hitting the water button to keep it running. If you're used to taking a Navy shower, that's ok, I guess. But that's my only complaint. We would like to visit again when we have more time. We camped at Fort Massac State Park in a Motorhome.

Ferne Clyffe State Park, Goreville, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We did a 1-night stopover and wished we could stay longer. Beautiful park, good trails, fairly level RV sites. We were near the playground, which was good as we had 4 granddaughters with us. Fill up with water on the wat in. There are hydrants at the dump station and scattered through the campground, but NOT at the individual sites. We camped at Ferne Clyffe State Park in a Motorhome.

King's Holly Haven RV Park, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Just spent a week at King's Holly Haven. We were in a 36' coach and parking was pretty tight. Spaces were tight. We were able to put out our awning and slides but not the rug in the first site we occupied. We moved to a different site because we wanted to extend our stay and had room for a rug. The biggest pro for us was the proximity of the RV park to the ball fields at Wear Farm City Park. There is a nice creek that runs along the back side of the RV park and most sites had at least some shade. We saw only one dumpster in the CG, and it was overflowing by the time it was emptied, but in general the park was very clean and nicely maintained. Sites were gravel with a concrete pad for the picnic table. No fire rings. There were some grassy areas but we had to walk our big dog across hot pavement to reach a grassy area. It was in the 90's all week and I worried abt the hot pavement and gravel. We had a pleasant stay and if our granddaughter plays in another tournament at Wear Farm City Park, we would stay there again but would enjoy more room and privacy. We camped at King's Holly Haven RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Catherine State Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We camped at Lake Catherine for 4 nights. Family members joined us in a travel trailer. They used the restrooms and showers and were amazed at their cleanliness. There are several well-marked trails including a trek to a small but picturesque waterfall. Watch out for ticks, though. Bad this spring! The park was quiet and the lake was beautiful and clean. The only spoiler was a factory or plant of some kind on the opposite shore. When life at night, even that was pretty, tho. Our site was level and easy to back into. We had 50 amp service full hookups. We did not have a tow vehicle but the site would have accommodated one easily. Would consider going there again. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Hot Springs is a fun place to visit. The historic Promenade is a great place to stroll above the crowds, and the town's architecture is beautiful. We especially enjoyed a shop there called All Things Arkansas. It's a family-owned business and everything in the shop is from Arkansas. We purchased a beautiful stained-glass lamp created by a local artist. The owner is very knowledgeable about quartz and other mineral formations native to the state.
