Whispering Valley Campground & RV Park, Rapid River, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Definitely an older park and a lot of apparently permanent residents, but it was good enough. We were there 1 night en route from St. Ignace to Wisconsin. The lady in the office was very sweet and helpful, and the care paid to the landscaping and cleanliness of the park are obvious. I wouldn't necessarily consider this a destination in itself but it was a pleasant spot to spend a rainy night. We camped at Whispering Valley Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tiki RV Park & Campground, Saint Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed our stay at Tiki RV Resort. We had a bit of a view of Lake Huron and it was close to everything in St. Ignace. There isn't a lot to do in the campground itself but the location is great. We could either back into out space or pull in and back out to leave. We chose to pull in to be able to see the lake. We only had neighbors on the driver side of our coach so that when we put out our awning and sat outside we had all kinds of room. We put up our canopy and set up a table next to it for our griddle. The only less-than-great aspect was that a slight slope away from our RV on the awning side and gravel under our patio rug made us be very careful walking around out there. We camped at Tiki RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We spent one night at Tom Sawyer's on our way home from a 2-week trip. We really loved it. It was relaxing to watch the barges to by and see the moon rise over the river. We liked it well enough that we have already booked another short stay. We plan to try for a longer stay in the coming year so we can explore Memphis and surrounds. Our campsite was nice and level, and we faced the river. There was a nice laundry room and no charge to do your laundry. The people in the office were super nice, and we were escorted to out campsite. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Meramec Springs Country Store and RV Park, Saint James, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice clean little campground. The owners are very nice. There aren't a lot of amenities but the surrounding area is gorgeous and there is a lot to do. I don't recall our site number. We would stay there again. We camped at Meramec Springs Country Store and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

See Meramec Springs Park just up the road. IT is gorgeous and you can see where they raise trout to release into the river. Great restaurants in St. James: Public House Brewing Company, and Just A Taste. Both are surprising finds in a town the size of St. James. My daughter works at Public House. Tell them Val's mom sent you.

Camp Gulf, Miramar Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $158.00
Overall Rating:

We loved Camp Gulf and have made reservations to go back there next year. While it isn't the ritziest of campgrounds, you can't beat the neighborhood! We were in the Beach section, just steps from the Gulf of Mexico. Campfires are allowed so we were able to use our gas fire pit. We were escorted to our site and the escort served as "spotter" to help back in. All the staff were very nice and very helpful. The campground was surprisingly quiet. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

There is a good variety of shops and restaurants in the area. We did the dolphin cruise on the Seablaster speedboat. It was fun but it wasn't very speedy. We did see some dolphins and a beautiful sunset from the boat. The wharf area seems like a happening place and we will spend more time there next year.

Santa Rosa RV Resort, Navarre, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $108.00
Overall Rating:

Santa Rosa is a beautiful facility, if a bit pricey. The landscape and grounds are perfection. The sites nearest the road get a good bit of traffic noise but we were waterfront on the bay and it was great. The pool is very nice and there is an awesome fire pit in the pavilion where we spent a very enjoyable evening socializing with other guests. Fire pits are not permitted on the RV sites. We would definitely enjoy staying there again. We camped at Santa Rosa RV Resort in a Motorhome.

All About Relaxing RV Park, Theodore, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

I would rate this small park a 10 except that the sites are just a little narrow. We were there for 1 night and would love to return when we can stay longer. We had an escort to our pull through site and did not have to unhook our toad. There was a sign at our site welcoming us AND our dog by name. We received a jar of jam when we arrived. We chatted with the owners and they are wonderful. Customer satisfaction is the name of the game with them. The park is immaculate with beautiful landscaping g and an inviting pool. We would love to go back. We camped at All About Relaxing RV Park in a Motorhome.

Red Gate Campground & RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

I'm not sure about the nightly rate. We love this campground and would definitely stay there again. It's very easy to get into Savannah from there but the campground is so nice and relaxing, it would also be easy just to hang out there. It's a campground, an events venue, a small farm...and we love it. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Fort Massac State Park, Metropolis, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is another beautiful Illinois state park. We got in past dark and had to leave early the next day so didn't get to explore but wouldn't hesitate to stop there again. No water or sewer at sites so we used the bath house. The water in the ladies' side never got past lukewarm, and you had to keep hitting the water button to keep it running. If you're used to taking a Navy shower, that's ok, I guess. But that's my only complaint. We would like to visit again when we have more time. We camped at Fort Massac State Park in a Motorhome.

Ferne Clyffe State Park, Goreville, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We did a 1-night stopover and wished we could stay longer. Beautiful park, good trails, fairly level RV sites. We were near the playground, which was good as we had 4 granddaughters with us. Fill up with water on the wat in. There are hydrants at the dump station and scattered through the campground, but NOT at the individual sites. We camped at Ferne Clyffe State Park in a Motorhome.

King's Holly Haven RV Park, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Just spent a week at King's Holly Haven. We were in a 36' coach and parking was pretty tight. Spaces were tight. We were able to put out our awning and slides but not the rug in the first site we occupied. We moved to a different site because we wanted to extend our stay and had room for a rug. The biggest pro for us was the proximity of the RV park to the ball fields at Wear Farm City Park. There is a nice creek that runs along the back side of the RV park and most sites had at least some shade. We saw only one dumpster in the CG, and it was overflowing by the time it was emptied, but in general the park was very clean and nicely maintained. Sites were gravel with a concrete pad for the picnic table. No fire rings. There were some grassy areas but we had to walk our big dog across hot pavement to reach a grassy area. It was in the 90's all week and I worried abt the hot pavement and gravel. We had a pleasant stay and if our granddaughter plays in another tournament at Wear Farm City Park, we would stay there again but would enjoy more room and privacy. We camped at King's Holly Haven RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Catherine State Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We camped at Lake Catherine for 4 nights. Family members joined us in a travel trailer. They used the restrooms and showers and were amazed at their cleanliness. There are several well-marked trails including a trek to a small but picturesque waterfall. Watch out for ticks, though. Bad this spring! The park was quiet and the lake was beautiful and clean. The only spoiler was a factory or plant of some kind on the opposite shore. When life at night, even that was pretty, tho. Our site was level and easy to back into. We had 50 amp service full hookups. We did not have a tow vehicle but the site would have accommodated one easily. Would consider going there again. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Hot Springs is a fun place to visit. The historic Promenade is a great place to stroll above the crowds, and the town's architecture is beautiful. We especially enjoyed a shop there called All Things Arkansas. It's a family-owned business and everything in the shop is from Arkansas. We purchased a beautiful stained-glass lamp created by a local artist. The owner is very knowledgeable about quartz and other mineral formations native to the state.
