Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very very nice campground. Helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful, well maintained flower planters throughout. Cell coverage bad, except near the office, or I would have given it a 10. We did make calls from the very comfortable lounge. Also did laundry in the immaculate laundry room. Saw deer and wild turkeys. It's a little far from Colorado Springs, but a nice drive. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Elk Creek Campground, Grand Lake, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This was a great park. Good services, good Wi-Fi. Apparently, moose come into the campground often, although we didn't see any. Gave it a 9 just because there was no sewer hookup at my site, although a dump station is available. We camped at Elk Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very close to the west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Also, very close to the charming town of Grand Lake, with shops and beautiful and developed lake front park. Good restaurants. If you're Catholic, you will love St. Anne's church.

Buck N Bull RV Park & Campground, Rangely, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a pretty sparce campground, but okay for a one night stay. Few trees. To get onto the center part of the pad for leveling, our hookups were farther away from the left rig than the hookups for the site on the right -- our slide just cleared the next site's water hookup tower. The people were nice. And the bathhouse was IMMACULATE! As nice as any we have seen and very big shower rooms. We camped at Buck N Bull RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Big Mountain Campground, Nephi, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful campground and was a real oasis after a few days of desert campgrounds. Plenty of trees and grass. The restrooms and showers were immaculate. Nice pool, lounge, and laundry rooms. Well managed and maintained. The only reason I didn't give this a 10 is that the entrance road is very narrow and rough -- don't let it scare you off! And there was no Verizon coverage for our jet pack. Park wifi was inconsistent. They cover the pool when not in use, so if you want to use it during the posted hours, you have to ask to have it uncovered. Easy bike riding in campground. We camped at Big Mountain Campground in a Motorhome.

Lower Lehman Creek Campground (NPS Campground), Great Basin National Park, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $6.00
Overall Rating:

This was a dry camp with zero hookups. There were fresh water spigots available in the park, but nothing you could use to fill a tank. Pit toilets, and the one nearest our site had no lock or latch on the door. There were only 11 sites. Those negatives aside, this was a beautiful and peaceful spot. Our site (#9) was the best! Some kind soul had hung a hummingbird feeder in a tree and lots of hummingbirds were using it! Also, right on our site came five deer, and about that many wild turkeys! No other campers in sight, although they weren't too far away. No one used generators that we could hear. The only bummer about the wildlife was that we were invaded with mice that night! We had five in our motorhome that night and had had to get traps, etc. to be sure they don't make their home in our RV. We would stay there again if we are ever in the area. Very dark at night and millions of stars! We camped at Lower Lehman Creek Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Whispering Elms Campground, Baker, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

There is not a lot to choose from in this area, and this is adequate as a jump off spot for the Lehman caves and the Great Basin National Park. Dirt, few trees, kinda dusty, but wouldn't expect much more in this area. Sites are a little hard to figure out and some are close together and not very level. Right "in town" which means there are a couple businesses close by. Bathrooms are nothing fancy or new, but clean and stocked with paper products. Shower did not look inviting, but would use if we had to! Unique check in -- at the bar. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tonapah is a historic mining town. We didn't have time, but there is a tour of an old gold mine which would be interesting. Apparently, they have a mining competition and some kind of festival sometime during the year, but not when we were there. We would stay there again if we had to be in the area. Pretty desolate area.

There was something very pleasant about this campground, that we can't really put into words. Well managed. Nicely spaced sites. Nice for bike riding. Conveniently close to wineries we wanted to visit. We would stay again. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Klamath River RV Park, Klamath, California

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautifully kept park facing the Klamath River. Very friendly staff. Used the very clean bathrooms and the excellent laundry facility. There is a coffee shop for morning coffee. The pull through sites were pretty close together. Our only complaint was that the Wifi and internet connection (phones and hot spot) were NIL! Nor was there any antennae access to TV. Good access to Redwood parks though. We camped at Klamath River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mountain Gate RV Park, Redding, California

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Pull-in sites close together, not much room to relax outside the rig. Each pull thrum had two trees which allowed some shade. Concrete pads. Amenities fine, but this is a stopover and jumping off point for nearby Lake Shasta, not a destination site in itself. Good internet connection. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lincoln City KOA, Otis, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Located in an internet "hole". Very spotty to nonexistent access, even with our own mobile hotspot. Pull thru sites on an incline and very close together, to the point one can overhear the neighbors' conversations. We had hoped we would be closer to the beach. Otherwise, it is a clean, friendly spot, but would not stay there again unless it was just for one overnight. We camped at Lincoln City KOA in a Motorhome.

Tamarack RV Park, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park seemed like a glorified parking lot. Tall trees, yes, but piney foliage so high that they provided little shade. Sites very close together and hard to maneuver. The park was located right next to a busy street. No view. Folks that arrived after us were victim of a scheduling snafu and had to be sent away, although they had reservations. The year round residents gave this a shanty-town feeling. We camped at Tamarack RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mountain Meadow RV Park and Cabins, Hungry Horse, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for five nights, including the 4th of July. We loved it. Lots of shade. Pretty little catch and release pond surrounded by a nice little meadow. Roads maybe a little difficult for bigger rigs, but possible. The bathrooms were the best we've seen, must be new. WiFi nearly nonexistent, but the park was full. Sites not too small. Few mosquitoes. Easy drive to Glacier National Park. No sewer, but dump site available. We camped at Mountain Meadow RV Park and Cabins in a Motorhome.

Everything was fine. The young men who checked us in were very personable and helpful. It would be a more pleasant park if the grass at the sites was not dead. Very nice walking park nearby. Site surface was gravel and featured a fire ring and picnic table. We camped at Miles City KOA in a Motorhome.
