Apostle Islands Area Campground, Bayfield, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The website advises they will not reserve on the phone - you are to print and mail in a reservation request along with a check for full payment. Hard to do when you are in the road so I took a chance and called. The man that answered was very nice and said they were new owners and they did take reservations. Wish I had known before I tried 6 other places since I couldn't print their form. He said he would have to check and see if they had a space for me and get back to me. Since we were traveling with spotty cell coverage I called back an hour later and got a very nice lady and she said she just got the message and they did have room! She took my credit card and I was happy. We got here over an hour ago and have been trying to set up ever since. When we saw the spot they put us in, a pull thru even though my confirmation said back in, we knew it would be a problem. There are 2 huge trees behind the spot so the entire space leans to the road. We are not novices but for a Motorhome spot this is a challenge. My husband went up and asked if there was any way we could move to one of the 4 other sites nearby that are in flat ground and empty and was told those were all booked for the same time that we were here. But I guess because the office put us in the crappy site we are stuck even though we are here. This is not a great beginning to our Apostle Island trip. If you do have to stay here, don't let them put you in site 14. There is no map on their site so you can't tell anything, but ask. Oh, I just remembered! We are fortunate that there was a clean out for the sewer on the opposite side of our site as the one we supposed to use is uphill! And we all know that it doesn't roll uphill! We camped at Apostle Islands Area Campground in a Motorhome.

Mountain View Campground, Lander, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

If you are looking for the Pickle Ball courts, keep driving. When we saw the price we weren't expecting much. But it was fine for what we needed and the location was where we needed it. Utilities worked fine. There are a few who live there long term. But the thing that I will always remember about the place is the wonderful lady who owns it. She is so kind and friendly - without being interfering (which would be easy when you are basically the only guest and are staying at her house). She found out I had a migraine headache and because she is in to nutrition and natural healing, she so kindly brought over a book with a section about migraines and the role different foods and minerals played. If you knew her age and saw her working every day you wouldn't question she is living life right. Is it the best place we ever stayed certainly not. But would I go back and will I remember her? Absolutely. We camped at Mountain View Campground in a Motorhome.

Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed Mid May when there were not many people camping. Can't imagine the zoo it would be when full. When we arrived the site they sent us to did not have all the snow removed so we could not get into it. Went back down to office and asked if we could move to next site, which was cleaned of snow and they okayed it. Although there were better located parks we stayed here (and paid the price) for full hookups, knowing it would be cold and we would need heat. We heard snow was predicted the day we were to leave so we asked to extend our stay 2 days and were accommodated. Although the storm only dropped 6" of snow, the area lost water and power. We could not even buy gas for our towed vehicle to go for a ride. We were stuck at camp with no water or electricity - boondocking in the cold for over $50 a night! The next day, utilities were still out and when we asked about getting out out of the 2 days we had extended our stay we were told there were no plans to refund money even though we were not getting what we paid for. We decided to leave anyway so we could get warm. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Terry Bison Ranch Resort, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Really don't see what all the hoopla is about. Kinda felt like we were parked in a storage lot of RV's, parked between a long term renter and a 5th wheel with 3 vehicles at it. Glad it didn't rain as it could have been a real mud pit. There are some amusement park rides for kids but none ran the day we were there, kitschy storefronts, tours to see the animals. The one redeeming thing was the burger at Senators Restaurant. Never had Bison before so had to try it since brochure said they raise 80% of bison eaten in US. Found out I LOVE buffalo! We camped at Terry Bison Ranch Resort in a Motorhome.

Douglas KOA, Douglas, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Best KOA we have ever seen. Very clean, lots of space between sites. Each has a grass patch, nice dog run, horse corral next door and all the bunnies running around drove our cat crazy!. Off season so very quiet, wifi good for park. Laundry had updated machines with very reasonable prices. Staff very responsive to any concerns raised. We camped at Douglas KOA in a Motorhome.

No frills, but exactly what we needed for an overnight stop. Large, level spaces behind Shell station. Would stay again without hesitation. Unless it was the middle of the summer. We camped at Holt's Shell RV Park in a Motorhome.
