Pomme De Terre State Park, Pittsburg, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the loop with electric and water. A word of warning, be wary of the sites you have. The sites in this loop that are near the beginning 1-4 have some logistical issues. Had the campground been full with the site we had reserved our water hose would not have reached. Some of the sites you'll only get your trailer in. Luckily since the campground was not full we were able to move to another site 18. There were 3 campers of our family and had a great spot with one camper on one side and the other 2 opposite. This opened up the middle grassy area for us to set our chairs up. The campground store is at the marina. It is small but you can get a good burger or pizza. You can also rent boats or other water equipment. There is also a beach area that is nice and the water is shallow for the little ones. The lake itself is well taken care of and very family friendly. They keep large boats off the lake. The electric only sites on another loop have great views of the lake. We camped at Pomme De Terre State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park, Middlebrook, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We have visited several state parks in Missouri. This was our first to Johnson's Shut-Ins. It was a terrific stay. The sites are separated by trees and a decent size grass area. We stayed in site 207 which is right down a small hill from the shower house. The Shower House was clean and the showers are very large compared to other state parks. There is no cell service or WiFi. We went to the Shut-Ins to swim during the day. Our 3 year old loved it. There are no Coolers or disposable drinks (water bottles) allowed as well as food. You can take a back pack and carry water in a non-disposable container. We did not hike very far into the shut-ins, so the path was easy to navigate. I do know the further you go back into the hiking trail you do have to hike with care. If you camp there is a separate area you are allowed to park. We will definitely be back. We camped at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Onondaga Cave State Park, Leasburg, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We prefer state parks and this one did not disappoint. The sites are level and spread out so you are not on top of your neighbor. The weekend we stayed was spent mostly in the camper because of weather. The park itself has a small store. There is only one main road into the campground and as far as MO State Parks go there are not a lot of sites, so they book quickly. We camped at Onondaga Cave State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are some outfitters in the area for floats. We did not use any.

However, we did do the cave tour and was interesting. We had our 3 year old and the amount of time on the tour was perfect.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park, Eureka, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

I am writing this review as what this park is, it is for kids. I knew that going to Jellystone. So if you want the State Park experience, this is not your place. I brought my 3 year old son here just for a night. He LOVED it. There were multiple activities and he made friends right away (as did I). It is pricey for a small gravel site. The fire pits are really just holes in ground and can be close to your camper. I have a small camper so my truck and trailer fit in site. Middle size to large you will have to park elsewhere. This place is definitely geared to younger kids and that part does not disappoint. The staff is great. The playground is adequate and the pool in April is not open yet. So if you know you are coming for kid entertainment, then this is your place. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort, Leasburg, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We came here in April which was an unusually cold weekend. It is also their offseason. We stayed in site 601 which was good for having a picnic table and fire ring not bumped up to another site. However there are trees to contend with while backing and the site is not level. It was a grass/dirt site.

We drove around the campground just to look at other sites. (We were the only RV). Most of the sites are very close and the fire rings were literally a few feet away from the other site's utility box. There are some sites that are better than others, so it helps if you've seen the campground before. We camped at Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Table Rock Lake State Park, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here over Veterans' Day weekend and were pleasantly surprised. The sites were level, the host was very friendly and the park was easy to get around. We stayed in campground 1 with a full hook up. There was a playground for our son and the trail was paved and very nice from the marina to the dam. The only negative was the showerhouse as it was dated, but they have built brand new ones that just weren't open yet. We will be back again. We camped at Table Rock Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Hidden Valley Outfitters, Overnight RV Park, Lebanon, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This was actually the first campground we stayed when we bought our new travel trailer. Being a novice and pulling a camper for the first time can be intimidating. This place made it easy. We had a pull-thru site and was right across from the playground for our 2 year old son. The sites are clean and level. The river was nice, however we did not fish or float. They offer a Good Sam discount. This is a good option for visiting the state park which fills up quickly for full hook up sites. We will be back here. We camped at Hidden Valley Outfitters, Overnight RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Echo Bluff State Park, Eminence, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest state parks we have visited. As mentioned this is a new park, so there is not much shade. The picnic side of the camper will be in the sun late afternoon til sunset. The playground and splash pad are great for any aged child. Our 2 year old loved the splash pad. The lodge is immaculate and worth a visit even if you don't need anything. We did not eat at the restaurant. On Friday there was a presentation in there amphitheater, but did not attend. We will be back soon. We camped at Echo Bluff State Park in a Travel Trailer.
