Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, Orlando, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

A nice inexpensive place to stay in Orlando. This is a large city park that also has a campground. There are 36 sites, all back-in. 14 have full hook-up, the others just water and electric. Dump station on the way out. If you want a full hook-up site make reservations early. Pretty nice bathrooms, seem to be cleaned every day. Most pads are cement and some are very sloped front to back. Our 5th wheel front jacks were out as far as they would go, plus I had about 6" of wood under them. Turns are tight but there were a couple long class As in here. Nice disc golf course, 2 1/2 mile long blacktop bike path, very large swimming pool, picnic pavilions, fishing, and even a drone zone. All these are open to the public. Some minor highway noise from the nearby Florida Turnpike. Verizon and AT&T signal 1 to 2 bars in campground. Nice laundry with 4 washers and dryers. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Ocean Pond Campground (USFS), Sanderson, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground! Very well maintained. First come first serve but we were here off-season and there were lots of empty sites. Sites 1 - 19 have water and electric. Sites 20 - 47 just water. Very large sites. We were in site 19 and had 50 amp and were right by the lake. Easy in and out. Dump station near the entrance/exit. Lots of long blacktop sites. Had no problem fitting my 33' 5th wheel and truck. Very quiet when we were there and a nice breeze off the lake. Nice place to relax. We stayed 3 nights. About a 20 min drive into Lake City where you can find just about anything. (Diesel, Gas, Fast food, Walmart, Home Depot, etc). Restrooms are nice and clean, showers are free. Showers are large with soap dish, hooks and lots of hot water. Kind of out of the way but I really enjoyed our stay here. We camped at Ocean Pond Campground (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

Don't trust your GPS with an address. Use these coordinates and it will get you to the road leading to the campground. 30.247409, -82.440479. We were there 4/17/2018 and had no problem with mosquitoes.

Aux Arc COE , Ozark, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

I love this place. Spent 4 days here in July. Very quiet and peaceful. Used as a stopping point between Memphis and Branson and it turned out to be a nice surprise. Sites are large with plenty of room between them. Very easy to get to from 40. Road through campground is wide and it was very easy to back into my site. Nice location right on the water. I had electrical problems with the pedestal but 30 mins after I told them at the office someone was there to fix it. They replace the breaker, 30 amp plug and some wiring. Everything worked great after that. Bathrooms and showers are nice but they are a hot box in the summer. No ventilation. Gave it a 9 only because there are no sewer hookups at the sites. But they do have 2 dump stations. There's a boat ramp near the back of the campground so there is some traffic from local fishermen. We camped at Aux Arc COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby town Ozark has a nice grocery store. About a 10 minutes away. Gas and diesel right up the street at two small gas stations. Be sure to take a couple nearby scenic drives. (not while towing, lots of hills and curves) 45 minutes away is Mt. Magazine and the Lodge at Mount Magazine, a nice place to visit and do a little hiking. If you like to fish this is a great campground.

The Boardwalk RV Resort, Homestead, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We did a two day stop here on our way to Key West from Fort Myers. Picked this place because they gave me the 50% off Passport America rate. Probably about 80% of this place is permanent mobile homes and RVs. Friendly staff, gated community, rest rooms and showers are usable but dated. We didn't use them. There is a fence around the whole community. They put us in a spot in the front corner which I had no trouble getting into because the road made a turn and I could back right in from the road. After we got set up we walked around and could see most or the sites are tight with a 90 degree back in. Would have been tough anywhere else. Our problem was we were parked in the corner up against a fence, on the other side of the fence was a intersection with a four way stop sign. All day and night we could hear loud traffic noise. So much that my wife had to wear earplugs to get to sleep. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Shady Acres RV & Camping Park, Fort Myers, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty nice place. We stayed here for 11 days in the off season. Very friendly staff, very accommodating. This park packs them in pretty tight in the winter but when we were here we had lots of room. Small but nice pool. Restrooms were cleaned often. They accept Passport America for 21 days in the summer. I would stay here again. We camped at Shady Acres RV & Camping Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Calusa Cove RV Park, Fort Myers, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is not an RV Park. You are basically parking in someones side yard. No bathrooms, no showers. Just water, electric and sewer. I had a hard time contacting this park for any information, they never answered their phone. They would not honor the Passport America discount (-$20.00) stating the website has not been updated in over a year. Had a hard time even locating the office. I had to park on the road and walk around looking for it. (It's located in a house) This place has potential but has been neglected. We planned on spending 13 nights here but moved on after 2. We camped at Calusa Cove RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
