Shady Rest RV Park, Houston, British Columbia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Price posted is for a long pull through with W/S/30 amp in USD. Our space was not shaded, and just in front of the office/shower building......which used to be the projection house of a drive in! The WiFi was awesome, the private bathrooms were clean and bright, 4 for each gender with locking doors. The owner/hosts were great and helped with suggestions for good stops heading north on the Cassiar. Paved roads and cement pads would be nice, but this is BC, not Orlando, FLA! We will stop here for sure on our way south! We camped at Shady Rest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

MamaYeh RV Park, Prince George, British Columbia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped here based on these reviews. Gravel road led to an RV that was the Office. Gentleman that met us was great and friendly. He admitted that WiFi was only available at his gate RV/Office. When we declined to stay he gave us directions to drive forward and go around the outer loop to turn around and exit. He explained that they had had big rains 3 days earlier and to stay in the center of the drives. All gravel, and very soft in some parts. This appears to be a great location when it is finished, but a bit too primitive for us. Exit to the highway is just after the crest of a hill, so a bit scary.

The sites were long and wide, and included sewer, power and water. There was a beautiful Mobile Suites 5th wheel in the first spot, so big rigs definitely will fit. We did not have a 4 wheel drive tow vehicle which was another reason for our decision to continue on. We camped at MamaYeh RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Brookside Campsite, Cache Creek, British Columbia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Price listed is for a pull through site with water, sewer and 30 amp electric. We arrived before the most of the overnighters so our site was OK, but narrow. This campground reports they were flooded by the spring runoff and the gas line was severed, so no hot water. They have done lots of work bringing in gravel to reduce the silt /mud, but there were still some soft spots. Several of the sites were short, so big rigs should have a reservation or arrive early. Bathroom was clean, but no hot water in May of 2017. WiFi didn't want to connect at all, but after a while one of our devices locked in and worked well while the others could not connect. Go Figure! We camped at Brookside Campsite in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Some sites may be a challenge for multiple sliders on both sides. Owners are working to restore service and get the pool operational. WiFi was quirky and unreliable for us!

Blue Cedars RV Park and Campground, Prince George, British Columbia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Price listed is USD for a water and 30 amp electric pull through. We stayed here three years ago and were a bit hesitant to return given the 2016 reviews. The reception staff was friendly and helpful, and the WiFi is some of the best we have had since leaving Texas almost two weeks ago. Internet is slowing down in the evening, but connection is constant! Great place to stay a few days and use the web to plan the northbound offline days on the Cassiar! Costco and big groceries nearby. Roads and sites are gravel and fairly level (only 2x4s needed on one side to level our rig). Didn't try the Pool, but laundry was 3 loonies per wash, and dryer was .25 for 5 minutes. Bathrooms are clean and rustic, which is OK for the AK Hwy! Some road noise, but didn't bother us. We will certainly stay here again! We camped at Blue Cedars RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Costco, GM dealer, Walmart, and casino are all within a few miles / km. This is a great place to do internet, shop, and do laundry before heading north to the Provincial Parks!
