Pioneer Campground, Laporte, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Let's start with the good. The site was level, I did not have to put anything under any tires. The site was all stones, no mud even after it rained all night. The water pressure was good. The site was so shaded we had to turn on lights in the camper during the day with the blinds open. The camp store was average with the standard camp ground store stuff. The weekend we were there was wing weekend, you pre-ordered what you wanted and on Saturday night you went to the campground store and picked up fresh out of the cooker wings. Now on to the different, the sign on PA-220 is marked well to turn in, but you go down this gravel road for about a ½ mile passing 3 other roads. There was only one very small sign tell you to keep going straight to the campground. First timers to the campground would be confused as we were. Next you have to drive thru the entire campground to the very back to get to the office. There is really one road in and out so if you meet someone on the way someone is backing up a camper since there is no room for two cars on this road. Once at the office you have to make a loop around a flag pole to back to your site. Each site is different in which way you can back into it based on the way you are facing. Depending on the site you're in you might have to drive all the way back to the main road to turn around in a parking lot to have you rig pointed the right way to back into your site. I did not do this and tried to back into my site from the wrong way and it cost me my trailer trailer lights and power cord. I was not the only one I saw several other having to drive around or jack knife there campers to get them in based on their direction and how small across the roads were. DO NOT listen to the staff about which direction to be to back in, go with what you thin is best. I was lucky they had a hardware store I could get what I need to fix my trailer cord. We camped at Pioneer Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is about 10 miles from World's end state park. This state park is great to take a picnic and either swim in the creek or go on a hike on your choice of about 6 trails. It's all free at the state park just get there early if you want to get a picnic table under a pavilion with a grill. The other thing is have what you need before you go into the camp ground the closet town is 12 miles one direction or 20 miles away and it small town USA. (no Walmart)

Canyon Country Campground, Wellsboro, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The Campground was very well keep. We had a full-hookup, pull thru site. The campground is very close to the PA grand canyon state park top park. It was a short drive to the bottom of the canyon to get to the bike trails and the outfitter for tube or boat rentals. There was a train ride close as well. The campground has a small game room, and the normal campground bathrooms. If you plan to stay here have plans to things outside of the campground. Also follow the directions that the campground gives you, Do NOT use Google maps it will take you down some dirt roads and thru corn fields to get there. We would stay at this campground again. We camped at Canyon Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes, Delaware

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was level and mostly clear of sand on the pad. Had to do a little work to get my camper back all the way in. The store was nice. Location to the beach was a short car or bike ride. The only 2 things we found wrong, our fire ring was on the back side of the camper. The bathhouse was new and as clean as be with all the sand. The only thing about the bathhouse was there was no rooms with just a bathroom. (each room has a shower, sink and toilet.) So the line can be long to just use the bathroom. This does not bother campers with their own bathroom. We would stay at this park again and recommend it to others. We camped at Cape Henlopen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed on the holiday weekend. The park was full, the bathrooms and showers showed it by Sunday Afternoon. Our site was a Pull thru, would not have been able to back into this site if it was not a pull thru. The staff was very friendly, the sewer connection was broken when we got there the staff was there in to fix it before i was even ready to use it. The free pancakes at breakfast was a great surprise. It was very close to the national park. The staff arranged a tour guide for the local history of the park and the Murphy Farm that was next door. The guide was very good at his job, and this was another nice free to use surprise. Would stay at this KOA again. We camped at Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA in a Travel Trailer.
