Lone Pine Campsites, Colchester, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Been full-timing in our RV for over 16 months and this is the first private campground that we have come across with pay showers. Really? Location is pretty good near Burlington, but rates are not cheap, and the showers aren't even particularly nice. Just charge an extra buck a night and throw in the showers, it's just another nuisance for guests. No chairs at the pools too? Sites are level but pretty close together with nothing between sites. Staff wasn't too friendly. Location serves its purpose if you are looking to visit Burlington. We camped at Lone Pine Campsites in a Motorhome.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We shouldn't have been surprised from all the other reviews, but this county park is a real gem. Some of the sites get a bit close without too much tree/shrub between but overall nice campground with full hookups. Recently renovated bathrooms and showers were excellent. A few washers/dryers around ($2/load). The water park across the street looks like it should be a lot of fun but was under construction during our visit. Overall the park facilities are great with a huge dog park on the pond where dogs have lots of space to run and swim. Good paved trails for walking/running. And of course the location is great too as you are ~10 minutes from Charleston and also 10 minutes to Folly beach, so there is plenty around to do. We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

State park campgrounds can vary a lot, but this one has a lot of recent updates. Sites are a spaced well, though there are limited trees/vegetation between sites so not much on privacy in that sense. Most sites seem to be W/E, but there are a few loong pulltroughs with full hookups. The roads are pretty easy to navigate though there are a number of trees right along curves in the road. Bathrooms are in good condition, with one that has been renovated quite recently. Nice park overall with good proximity to Savannah, which is why they can get away with charging a pretty high rate for a state park. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Faver-Dykes State Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a nice campground with great rates still pretty close to St Augustine. I don't think there are any full hookups available, but the sites are large and well spaced with many trees between sites. The bathrooms were pretty worn, but serviceable; the campground has a closure coming up so hopefully it is to upgrade the bathrooms. A few shorter trails around, access to fishing dock, wouldn't guess you are just a few minutes from I95. We camped at Faver-Dykes State Park in a Motorhome.

Thousand Trails-Long Beach, Seaview, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty decent for a TT park. The sites are pretty close, but that is not uncommon at many parks. The hookups are a little annoying with the central water/sewer for 4 sites, but they are full hookups. Location is pretty nice with the beach and discovery trail a short walk away, Long Beach a short ride, and within 20-30 minutes to Astoria. Bathrooms were clean. There is only one big dumpster, but its not that big of a park so not really a big deal. Good value if you are staying on TT membership. We camped at Thousand Trails-Long Beach in a Travel Trailer.

Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground), Olympic National Park, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Would have loved to be able to get a waterfront site, but inside sites are still nice. Sites are spaced nicely and can be full shade, or mostly sun depending on beach front or interior. Some reviews had commented on noise from the road, but in our July visit, we noticed the sounds of the ocean much more than the road. The price is a bit high for a site with no hookups, but the location is pretty great on the beach, as well as for access to the park. The campground didn't seem to have many options for bigger rigs, I'd imagine it would be tough finding a spot for 30+ft. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Olympic Peninsula / Port Angeles KOA, Port Angeles, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA has a decent location for visiting the northern part of Olympic NP via Hurricane Ridge Rd. The pricing was high for a W/E site, but not too far out of whack with the area, which has a shorter peak season. Sites were decent on space, and the location was quiet, though right off 101. The bathrooms were pretty clean, but the showers were rather small. Wifi was surprisingly functional. We camped at Olympic Peninsula / Port Angeles KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Thousand Trails - Oceana RV & Camping Resort, Ocean City, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

This was a pretty average TT campground, aided by a nice location. The immediate surroundings are pretty quiet, a few other hotels and RV resorts in Ocean City, and a few other sleepy beach towns up to the north. Ocean Shores is a decent town to the South, but still pretty sleepy even on a July weekend. Campground has a nice path out to the beach. Sites are a bit close but not too bad. Bathrooms were clean with plenty of showers, which is handy since there are a limited number of full hookup sites. A bit of open grass space, but not much around to do other than the beach for families with kids. We camped at Thousand Trails - Oceana RV & Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Thousand Trails - La Conner, La Conner, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

The park has a great location with some really nice views of the bay, though there are limits on fishing and crabbing due to being on a native reservation. The campground itself is pretty average. Some sites are pretty tight and the roads are dusty, but mostly fine to navigate. For a campground that only has a small percentage of sites with full hookups (<10%), these were the worst bathrooms we've come across in a while. Staff was mostly helpful though. Most areas of the campground were ok for ATT, but dead for Verizon, could only get a signal when you went out by the bay. We camped at Thousand Trails - La Conner in a Travel Trailer.

Thousand Trails - Birch Bay, Blaine, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

This is a well maintained TT campground in a great location near the waterfront town of Birch Bay. The sites can be a bit close together, and the central hookups for 4 sites would be annoying if all sites were full, fortunately they were not for our visit so it was all very good. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff and a number of activities on site. Definitely worth heading in to Birch Bay, and down to the State park too for some beach front open space. Close to Bellingham if you need any supplies, and decent access into Vancouver. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Travel Trailer.

Mt. Vernon Thousand Trails, Bow, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

Overall this TT campground was pretty good. Most sites are only W/E, but the bathrooms are spaced well and in good condition. As many reviews note, the roads are definitely dusty if its not raining. Sites and spacing are generally good, some sites available with more sun, some with more shade.

Our biggest problem was the electric, which couldn't handle the draw when the weather spiked into the upper-80s and had people running (multiple) ACs. We camped at Mt. Vernon Thousand Trails in a Travel Trailer.

Thousand Trails - Crescent Bar, Quincy, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice TT park with great views of the Columbia river and valley. Limit businesses nearby but some expansions are ongoing. Close to Quincy and Wenatchee. Sites were mostly level with decent spacing. Clean restrooms and showers, with newer washing machines. Staff was less than great. Quiet during the week, but fills up quick on the weekends in early June. We camped at Thousand Trails - Crescent Bar in a Travel Trailer.

Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA, Newport, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

The campground has some nice features, but the sites can be hit or miss. A lot of sites on the TT side are overgrown to the point of being hard to distinguish if they are still sites. The bugs (mosquitos and bees) were pretty heave in early June. The staff was pretty friendly though. We camped at Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Good location near Bozeman, but also near 90 and train tracks so there can be some noise. Many level pull through sites, but sites are pretty close together. Bathrooms and showers were kept very clean. The owners were friendly too. We camped at Sunrise Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Keyhole State Park, Moorcroft, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a limited number of sites that can be reserved ahead, with the majority on a first come basis. Many sites seemed to have a nice view of the lake with a concrete picnic table and fire pit. The campgrounds are generally on a hill sloping down to the lake so most sites didn't seem to be too level, and the roads/sites were very dusty. Good spacing between sites though. No showers available, just put toilets. We camped at Keyhole State Park in a Travel Trailer.
