Tips for other Campers:

The river was very high while we were there and we saw no river traffic. Only here one night as we were traveling south, would have been a great place to stay longer.

Big Pine Campground, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The owner took us to our site and then he directed our backing in which was helpful. This park was quiet even with most of the surrounding sites being occupied, they were close by but not on top of each other. We camped at Big Pine Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We used this campground as a base for visiting Crazy Horse Memorial twice, Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park (Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Rd. and the wildlife road tour), also visited the Norbeck Wildlife Preserve and the Norbeck Overlook Black Hills National Forest (a good place to walk the dogs). Got takeout food along with pie and ice cream at the Purple Pie Place in Custer.

Cottonwood RV Park, Bluff, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This campground was in very good condition. The lady running this park was extremely knowledgeable about this part of the state and had many pictures of sites that could be seen. She took good care of her campground and was concerned that a campers experience would be satisfactory. The site had a small amount of shade late in the day but the trees are fairly small. We camped at Cottonwood RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There was so much to see in this area we used this campground as a base to travel from. We visited Gooseneck State Park, Monument Valley, Sand Island petroglyphs, Fort Bluff, Muley Point, Natural Bridges National Monument, Hovenweep National Monument, and Mesa Verde National Park, drove the Moki Dugway, and drove through the Valley of the Gods. We ended up staying here for 4 nights as it was conveniently located for our sightseeing (we had not originally planned this many nights here).

Heritage Acres RV Park, Tuscumbia, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

It appeared that most of the sites were seasonal or long term with a few pull throughs for nightly rental. Check in was easy. Many cable stations available. Basically an open gravel flat lot with some grass dividers. We camped at Heritage Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Buck Hill Campground, Plumtree, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Pull thru site, easy to level on grass. Appeared to be mostly seasonal campers but the ones I had contact with were friendly. We had a bear of a time finding this campground even though we were perhaps close a couple of times (you may not want to trust your GPS completely on this one). Was told they had wi-fi at the meeting room but did not try it out. We camped at Buck Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Grand Gulf Military Monument Park, Port Gibson, Mississippi

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the lower section for 2 nights and were the only campers in that section except for the host. Restroom and showers were older but clean. The grounds and museum are very interesting with many historical items to see and there is also a good hilly walking loop available (great for the dogs). The museum workers and the camp host were very friendly and helpful. We camped at Grand Gulf Military Monument Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Used this campground as a base to visit the National Battlefield in Vicksburg and also the Windsor Ruins. We traveled off the Trace to camp here and were not disappointed. This was a very good value and relaxing park also.

Moonshine Creek Campground, Balsam, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We had quite a bit of rain while here but the site handled it fairly well. The bathroom/showers/laundry facility were very clean and outstanding (all tiled nicely). The owner took us right to our site and provided excellent precise backing advice that guided us into our site without any issues (he was the best of our 51 night trip in retrospect). Very friendly owners. We camped at Moonshine Creek Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Promised Land State Park, Greentown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park was in good condition with restrooms and shower facilities a short walk in two different directions. Had to level side to side. Water was available at the head of the road we stayed on. We stayed on a site that allowed dogs.

We stayed one night April 17th, no snow remaining in this campground but it was a little brisk by morning, but not bad. We walked the dogs both on arrival in the late afternoon and in the morning that we left. This was a dog friendly section. We camped at Promised Land State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Driving the last few miles to the campground was like being in a rhododendron forest.
