Gunnison KOA, Gunnison, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We had the double site which was worth the extra money as we were staying for a week. This provided extra grass and more space between sites. Dusty as Colorado is, and so dry, but this KOA made concerted effort to minimize the dusty roads by watering them 2-3x\day. Laundry room, specifically the machines, were not very clean. No cable; limited OTA channels. Even though close to airport, there is limited noise as mostly smaller planes and only 1-2 commercial flights a day. Poor WiFi. Close to downtown Gunnison. We camped at Gunnison KOA in a Motorhome.

Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground nestled in the woods. Very quiet and peaceful. Roads are gravel and red dirt, which is what you get in Colorado. Staff very friendly and helpful. Weekend breakfasts very good. Had rain one day, causing some flooding in the street which dried up quickly, and staff were very attentive of leveling any ruts. WiFi good; cable good; no phone service. Water pressure was fine during our stay. About 30 minutes to Cañon City or Colorado Springs. Easy drive on Highway 115. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fun Gondola ride at Royal Gorge Bridge in CaƱon City. Don't bother going to Broadmoor Seven Falls. You need to take a shuttle ($17 pp) and the waterfalls were not anything special. Took the trolley ($17 pp) tour in Garden of Gods which was very good. Excellent lunch in Old Colorado City at Jake and Tellys Taverna, an authentic Greek restaurant.

High Plains Camping, Oakley, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

If you like mosquitoes, flies, grasshoppers and sticky burrs, then this place is for you! Basically an open prairie with gravel/dirt sites. We were in the back and our site was level. Ok for one night stop over. Not good for pets as too many sticky burrs that get on their pads and your shoes so take your shoes off before you go inside. The Captain Jack pub was mediocre at best. Owned by RV Park owner. Location convenient as right off I-70 but you may want to drive a little farther down the road. We camped at High Plains Camping in a Motorhome.

Mustang Run RV Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Location is right off I-40 so convenient but traffic noise. In summer that's Ok because windows closed. Good for 1 night stay. If coming to see sights in OKC, recommend Twin Fountains RV Park. We stayed there previously and it's a nice RV Park with no traffic noise. Other reviewers have mentioned difficulty getting onto road when leaving due to heavy traffic. To avoid this, we took a right onto Mustang road, then first right on Reno, and right on Czech. This takes you to I-40 East and West. We needed mobile RV service for our tow vehicle and Price Mobile RV was very good. Prompt and experienced. We camped at Mustang Run RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Barnyard RV Park, Lexington, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Older RV Park that seems to be catering to full timers and/or local workers. On day we were there which was a Wednesday, they had no vacancies. We had a reservation so got a site. It is located in back of flea market so might attract those who sell or shop at the flea market. Ok for a one-night overnight but not a destination. We camped at The Barnyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA, Gaffney, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA under new ownership a few years ago and they have made great improvements. The older trailers and RVs are gone. New premium sites which are cement with patio area, table/chairs and fire pit; lots of space and grass between sites, access to nice ponds with dock and benches. Lots of walking places for dog to run; also have a decent closed in dog area. We stayed in a deluxe site which provides good space between sites, level. Grounds are well maintained and clean. Facilities clean. Good WiFi accesss; cable. Staff very friendly and helpful. We camped at Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA in a Motorhome.

Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye), Luray, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Was a little concerned with the roads based on other reviews however found this to not be an issue. We took 340 through Fort Royal which is a 2-lane road. Easy to find entrance. There is a slightly steep road past the registration area to the campsites, but my co-pilot walked to the top of the hill just to make sure another RV was not exiting. Check in time is 1 pm. Level gravel sites. Beautiful scenic views of farmland and mountains. Peaceful. Lots of grass to walk the dog and a large, shaded and fenced dog park. Clean pool. The grounds and facilities are well maintained. Close to town of Luray which has several restaurants and of course a super Walmart. If you're looking for a peaceful, beautiful Campground, this is the place. We camped at Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye) in a Motorhome.

Americamps RV Resort, Ashland, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Very accommodating manager assisted us to locate a site with more shade, as arrived in 90 degree weather. Campground right off I-95 so highway noise, however, sites in shaded area have decreased road noise. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Don't follow GPS. Exit 89 off I-95. Follow signs for the campground vs GPS.

BassPro very close with good restaurant, Fish Company. Close to interstate with easy access to many Richmond attractions.
