Sundermeier RV Park, Saint Charles, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 2 weeks in June of 2018. Nice park, all concrete with long pull throughs and many big, expensive rigs here. At first I was put off by all the rules on the website for this campground but after being here a few days realized that those rules keep out the riff-raff. Nice park. No amenities really but they do the basics very very well. Hook ups were close and water PSI is 100, so use a regulator. Also, put the regulator on at the bib because the pressure here actually blows some water hoses. there is no pool or playground here for the little ones, but then I didn't see many kids here during my stay. This is very close to the Katy trail and all St. Louis attractions. Park is well-maintained and clean. I will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Sundermeier RV Park in a Motorhome.

Whittington Woods Campground, Whittington, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 3 nights in June 2018. Big park with a wooded feel and plenty of room to roam around. The owner is a really nice guy and very courteous. Hookups were maintained and adequate. My only issue was that I was put in a site close to the entrance and right on the end. Normally these are desired sites but mine was small and had a lot of traffic going to and from their own rigs. This became especially annoying at 6 a.m. when people were leaving for work. I would stay here again in an instant - I'd just have a little more to say about where I was placed as the park wasn't that full. Also, couldn't get satellite reception due to the many trees but that was fine with me. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Motorhome.

Manchester KOA, Manchester, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in this KOA for 4 days in June 2018. This is very close to the interstate with easy access. The campground was nice and clean with many activities for kids and adults. Close to a lot of eating options. All hookups worked well. Water pressure was in the mid 40s. We had a deluxe site which was easy to get in and out of and the hook ups were close and maintained. Really no complaints about this campground. We camped at Manchester KOA in a Motorhome.

Scenic Mountain RV Park & Campground, Milledgeville, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I chose this campground because of the "9/9.5 Good Sam rating" touted on the website and reviews here. I stayed here in May of 2018. As a full-time rv-er I have stayed at countless rv parks, believe me when I say this park is in no way 9-stars. Directions on the website to the RV park were spot on. Check in was easy and I was given lots of coupons and a park directory. I was directed to my pull through site, number 36. Passing numerous empty back in sites on the way, my site was located directly beside the bathhouse and garbage. This small area has 3 pull-through sites when it should only have one. Mine was right in the middle of the the three with a good view and a 5 foot-wide lawn area with picnic table and fire pit. The connections were all the way at the rear of the site and a real stretch to get to. The site was not even close to level. Also, everyone used the adjacent sites to walk or drive through which was a joy. So, the view was short-lived as the next day they put another big rig beside me which left the following morning and was quickly replaced by another one. Meanwhile the entire back area was empty. At check in I was repeatedly told how "pristine" the park is. Again, not so. There was rutted grass, cracked asphalt, unlevel sites and lawn areas, etc. The dog area is run down and full of huge fire ant piles. The last day we were here my family and I used the very nice pool area. It started to rain. The owner comes skidding into the parking area next to the pool and starts screaming "everyone out of the pool!" We thought there was some sort of local tornado alert or something but it was just a brief summer shower. He then began to berate me and asked if I had read the pool rules. When I said I hadn't, he started yelling that its Georgia law that you cannot be in the pool if its raining and he was "going to be fined $5,000!" He then told me when I return I was "to read every single rule!" No worries there, I won't be returning. This is over-rated and poorly run. Mostly long-term workers and the web-site is not accurate. Don't say I didn't warn you! We camped at Scenic Mountain RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Wilmington KOA, Wilmington, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Staff is super friendly and this park is a surprise as we drove through what seemed like the middle of town during rush hour. But as soon as we entered the park it was like an oasis. Quiet, clean, spacious. The dog park is big and has some obstacles for the dog to play on and plenty of room to throw a ball. They have a big bouncy pad, volleyball court, tetherball, playground and a nice pool. The site was concrete and big enough for my big rig. It was also level. Hookups were close and easy. Sites are spacious and well kept. I've stayed at at least 15 KOAs and this is the best one. I will stay here again. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Motorhome.

Low Country FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Charleston AFB, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

An awesome RV park with mature trees. Be sure to enter the back gate you the airport if you're driving a big rig. Also, the signs for the RV park are not well-posted and as it is off the road a bit, this can be confusing. Our site was a back in which was easy even with my big class A. Easy access to beautiful downtown Charleston (about 15 minutes) and surrounding area. The RV park is located near a big playground and open field which was great for my ten year old and my big dog liked playing fetch in the field. This is a little tight to maneuver a big rig though but totally doable if done slow and easy. Hookups were well-appointed and water pressure was in the 50s. It rained a ton while we were there but site remained dry. Great little RV park that we will stay at again. We camped at Low Country FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Eagle Hammock RV Park (Military FamCamp), Kings Bay, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Located on navy sub base king's Bay. Easy to get through the gate with our big class a providing you use the directions on the DOD lodging website. This park is medium sized and in right on a beautiful lake. The concrete pads look short but are just long enough for a big rig to put down jacks. Hookups were nice, well-positioned and more than adequate. This base is spread out which gives the feeling that there isn't a lot going on. Also, there was a pistol range nearby but hardly bothered us with the noise. This place is quiet and clean and out of the way. I will stay here again. Terra Ceia Village RV Resort, Palmetto, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Not impressed. Stayed here in a big rig in April 2018. First, this park is really a trailer park with RV sites. It is quiet with full, easy hook ups. The staff here seems non-existent and the park isn't anything to brag about. The site was grass and sand and small for my 43' rig. It's also a Thousand Trails/Encore park, and really makes me glad I didn't sign up with them because as a full-timer, I've stayed in many of these parks and they ALL are lacking in just basic upkeep and attractiveness. This park is easy to get to from I-75/275 and the full-time residents seem to be a mix of old folks, manual laborers, and the occasional Metallica enthusiast. As a bonus it's also close to Dollar General which seems to be a nightly haunt for the park's residents as every evening I watch them journey to the DG and return with their small bags of treasures. I found the price a bit high for what I got, a staff who didn't seem to know or care that I was there, and a small, barely maintained site. Next time through I will research more thoroughly to find something better. We camped at Terra Ceia Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Navarre Beach Campground, Navarre, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Talk about southern hospitality. This park is great and the staff is tremendous. Camped here for 8 days in a big rig. The park has numerous facilities, and awesome little private beach area and some rental cabins. The roads are narrow but I easily drove my rig through without issues. My only problem was that my site had two strips of concrete that the RV tires drive onto, in between was gravel and that was probably two inches lower then the edges of the concrete. Setting jacks was difficult and required me to re-position my rig six or seven times. Even still, I bent a footplate on one of my jacks, problem was remedied when I got some jack pads that equalized the height difference. This is a nice little park with an attentive and helpful staff, some sites may be small for big rigs so ask about them when you make your reservation. I will stay here again. We camped at Navarre Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

White Springs RV Park, White Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with very few spaces (about 7, not all of them with full hookups. I spent one night here in April 2018. The new owners are very nice and are really making this park special. There is a big area in the back of the park where your dog can run and also has hammocks and tire swings. This was very relaxing and enjoyable. The owner is very friendly and accommodating and I think as this park matures it will become harder to find a site. Perfect location right at the intersection of I-75 and I-10 makes it easy to get in to the park and back on the road quickly the next day. This park isn't perfect by far but is a great value with a lot going for it. We camped at White Springs RV Park in a Motorhome.

Reunion Lake RV Resort, Ponchatoula, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here in April 2018. As I walked in the office the girl at reception was on the phone with a customer about a credit and was acting very bothered by this customers questions. As I checked in she told me their main water attraction was closed (only open on weekends and there was nothing about this on their website). She then asked me if I'd like to pay for WiFi or rent a golf cart to the tune of $75/day. I said no. I then inquired about food options as the website touts food and beverages on site. I was told that they are only opening the water attractions on the weekends and that went for food as well. The lazy river and pools were open but basketball/pickleball/putt putt were only on weekends as well and have an associated fee as do the water stuff. I was escorted to my site which was concrete and flat and level with easy hookups and good spacing. There are mature trees on the property as well and we were close to the lake. Also, I had called ahead to have an important package delivered and they said they would receive it. When I got there they said they had refused it because it was signature required (amazon prime, no sig required), then they said they didn't accept packages for guests. So again, for a resort, the service here SUCKS and the staff act like they don't want to be here and could care less if you are. Further, I booked this place because of water attractions, website says open "April-October", this isn't true and had I known I would've stayed somewhere else. As for the pools, no towels, lockers or restrooms could be found, so be sure to leave valuables in your rig and take your own towel with you. On the plus side there is a nice gas station and a Sonic for a quick fast food fix. All in all, this place has the feel of just wanting to nickel and dime you to death, so expect that and also expect very little by way of courteous helpful staff. In short, not all it's cracked up to be. Customer service - look it up! We camped at Reunion Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Nice park in a beautiful setting with tall trees and grass. Great dog park. Roads and site were tight for my 43' footer so I would advise disconnecting your toad at the check in area. Showers were clean and open. Pool looked nice and they had a playground. Close to Shreveport and all the amenities of a southern city. Bar J Hitchin Post RV, Sweetwater, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This was a park we stayed at in early April 2018. The sites were spacious and the showers clean and well appointed. The staff was nice but when I had a package shipped to this address the lady who brought it to my rig questioned as to why I was having a package delivered when I didn't "live" there. There are long term campers here but all we encountered were nice. Also, Sweetwater was a nice town with good places to eat and stores for restocking essentials. The site was gravel and very spacious and mostly level. This is right across the street from a big truck stop so you'll hear the trucks coming and going but I did not find it that bothersome. All in all a pleasant few days, We camped at Bar J Hitchin Post RV in a Motorhome.

Southern Star RV Park, Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for three days in early April 2018. Super easy access from I-10. First, we almost didn't stay here because when we pulled in there was some big blue jalopy of a Bus parked right in front, this made the park appear run down (which it is) and during my stay I noticed 2 different high-end rigs pull-in, see that jalopy and promptly leave. However, the manager of this place is super-nice and is working hard to make it better. The site itself was gravel and a little short for my 43 footer and had a very small concrete pad for a patio. The hook-ups are not well situated and when I wanted to empty my tanks I had to figure out how to do that on an uphill incline. The park itself has buildings showing their age, a rather large dog park, good wifi and is all dirt roads. It seems a lot of manual laborers live here and after pulling in we decided to stay only one night instead of our original 3 nights, then a state trooper pulled in. turns out he's staying there which made us feel better. We did stay the entire time. Road noise was not bothersome and the town of van horn is a dying one. Very little in that town but there are a couple of restaurants close by and also a couple of big truck stops. All in all, this is worth a one or two night stop if you happen to need a place in West Texas off I-10. Just don't expect much. Ample at best. There was garbage littered around the park which may have to do with the wind because I saw the staff actively working to make the place nicer. We camped at Southern Star RV Park in a Motorhome.
