Pendleton KOA , Pendleton, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We booked this not knowing that a KOA Journey park is meant to be a stopover only. To be fair, that is what it is. You don't want to vacation here. This is basically a big parking lot. Sites have a small patch of grass and picnic table. I was disappointed that the dog park was horribly smelly due to the two garbage cans full of poop and the poop on the ground. Why can't people pick it up?? Bags are provided. The park appears to be mostly full timers. We camped at Pendleton KOA in a Motorhome.

Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort (Formerly Outdoor Resorts), Newport, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

We loved our visit to this park. We decided to get the $85 per night space. We can see the ocean from the site but not ocean front. This is a true resort with wide spaces, dog parks, walking trails to the beach. Everybody we met was nice. We camped at Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort (Formerly Outdoor Resorts) in a Motorhome.

After checking in the guards will guide you to a large lot to disconnect your tow, then guide you to your site. When you leave, you follow the same procedure. We loved it that there was no worry about blocking traffic to connect and disconnect.

Crown Villa RV Resort, Bend, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

There isn't a bad spot here. All sites are wide and long with grassy space in between and lots of common grass. One minor complaint: we booked by phone and talked with the clerk about a site in the back near the dog park. We don't use any of the clubhouse facilities. When we checked in, they tried to put us in a spot right next to the clubhouse. I told them we had the other spot reserved and they said that unless we paid extra no spot was guaranteed. News to me! It turned out okay as they finally put us next to our chosen spot in the back. I saw previous comment about the dog park. My dog loved it. She enjoyed running up and down the hill especially because we never let her off leash outside of a fenced enclosure. Besides the dog park there is plenty of greenery and places to walk your dog with bag stations and trash cans available. We camped at Crown Villa RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Heed the warning about a low bridge height on the route your GPS will send you on. The website has good directions to use instead. Lots of good shopping in downtown Bend.

McCall RV Resort, McCall, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park with lots of greenery. Sites are far enough apart for privacy and varying levels ensure nobody is looking right in your windows. WiFi is a little spotty but works. We got site 78 looking out on the river. Will upload photo if I can figure out how to do it. Walk into "downtown" is about a mile along bike path. Will definitely come again!!! We camped at McCall RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Dubois / Wind River KOA, Dubois, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground right on the Wind River. We paid extra for a deluxe patio site and it included a deck and patio table and chairs. Good amount of space. There is a mix of tents, cabins, and RVs that are all laid out nicely. Our only complaint is that the cable wasn't working on our site. We camped at Dubois / Wind River KOA in a Motorhome.

Rapid City RV Park and Campground, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

First, the good stuff. The managers/owners were very attentive to their customers. They guided us to our site and helped with positioning. There is a nice pool and a fitness room. However, the sites were extremely tight on a terraced hillside. Our 35 foot motor home barely fit and we had to move the picnic table to the back of the MH so we could access the basement doors. We would not have been able to sit out in chairs or grill without sliding downhill into our neighbor's site (though we didn't want to sit out in this ugly park). Sites were gravel and dirt with a few weeds under the tables. The WiFi was mostly not working; when we connected at all it was weak. Owner said he is improving soon. There were a few OTA channels. We stayed here to visit Mt. Rushmore. On the 20-mile trip to the monument, we saw several much nicer RV parks. Unless you need to be close to Rapid City, I suggest looking further down HWY 16 for a place to stay. We camped at Rapid City RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Famil-E-Fun Campground and RV Park, Mitchell, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice family-owned campground just off I-90; a nice overnight stop. It was mostly empty on a Monday night it fills up on weekends. WiFi is good but no cable and only two OTA channels. Our pull thru site was large and plenty of room to put out our slides and awnings. The small store has postcards, a few supplies, and Schwan's ice cream bars. We don't tow, so could not take a trip into nearby Mitchell. We camped at Famil-E-Fun Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Summer Breeze Campground, Iron Mountain, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We were mixed on our reviews of this campground. The new owners are really trying to make it good and there were lots of happy campers around us. There is a great pool, playground, and recreational area. We liked the mini hiking trail and the firewood delivered to the site. Our complaint is with the utilities. We reserved 50A service. The first site assigned to us (29) had the sewer in the normal spot but water and electrical together about 25 foot from the right side back bumper. When we complained that we couldn't use the site, the owner berated us for not having enough extra hose and electrical cord. He did move us to another site with normal configuration while muttering that someone else might be angry that we took their site. Why not just explain that the site had weird configuration and offer to loan us the extensions? We were also given 30A (both sites) unknowingly but just dealt with not being able to use the appliances we wanted to use. A neighbor said there were 50A sites in another area that appeared to be filled with seasonals. Other than the above issue, this was a really nice park that can get better with a little work. We camped at Summer Breeze Campground in a Motorhome.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge campground with lots of trees. It has good activities for the family and proximity to Mackinaw City. We only stayed one night but enjoyed a short walk to see the famous bridge. We had no DTV satellite coverage because of trees. WiFi is pay for coverage but very weak signal so mostly useless. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.
