Ferryboat Campsites, Liverpool, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was met with teenagers learning/teaching another employee the computer system. During check in we were not offered a map, a list of activities, nor any direction as to where our site was. The camp store is up flight of steps and was adequate. Firewood is sold in the camp store. There is an onsite walkup window ice-cream store which was neat. The site was level and needed no leveling blocks. Utility pole had electric, cable, and sewer. Water is shared with site 243 in front of your camper so ensure you bring extra length of water hose. Bathrooms are directly across from the campsite and are clean and shower water is hot and relaxing no matter when we went. The bathrooms do not have a power vent so several times we went in and the mirrors were fogged up. This campground has a very lax alcohol and smoking policy. Staff did not know what, where, and when the activities were going to be held without looking at the board of which the activities did not start on time anyway. The campground is a stop for the ferry boat which is very cool and walk on to Millersburg is very inexpensive round trip. It is well worth the money and time. The ferryboat can handle cars, vans and light trucks. We walked on. While in Millersburg there is Daniels Diner which has great coffee located a short distance walk at Center and Market Streets. Wife and I enjoyed sitting on the benches overlooking the river from the campground. We did not make it for sunrise or sunset however only could imagine that would be great to take in. Make sure you have everything you need there are no big box stores (Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, ect) close. We camped at Ferryboat Campsites in a Tent Trailer.

Elk Neck State Park, North East, Maryland

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is down a mildly windy road. Once in the staff is very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly despite the overwhelming rules they must go over when you arrive. A hair more strict seemingly than other Maryland State Parks we have been to in the past. We had no trouble with navigating the North East loop however many others did. Observed the pull through sites as tight by being narrow and short. Watched several campers over the course of our stay have a hard time getting their midsized campers parked on their site. We also observed many sites that required extensions for their sewer line. The utilities for our site was in front of the tongue and required an extension for our water. Our site was nicely shaded with some grass for pets. The drive way was on a hill able to accept two vehicles. The camping pad levels out and was enough room for the trailer. The site needed minimal leveling. The fire pit at this site has a grill, lantern holder and picnic table. On the loop there is a nice clean restroom/ shower house that is close and playground which is out of sight of this site. The main amenities are all a short drive away. The camp store was large with not too much different to offer. The lighthouse is a sure stop. There is no handicap parking and often times must wait to park due to the popularity. They have very limited hours for tours. The hike is level gravel with rolling hills. Once there beautiful views you can take in. The beach is nice. It is regularly unmanaged meaning there is debris on the beach and no life guard. The swimming area is quite large and tapers out several hundred feet to a depth of about 8-12 feet. Overall enjoyed our time and would go again. We camped at Elk Neck State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Rocky Gap State Park, Flintstone, Maryland

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is clean as is the showers, and restrooms. The camp site is spacious & mostly sunny. The s1ite is conveniently next to the trail access for the beached lake, bathrooms, camp store, and scales & tails building. The hiking trails, aviary, and casino are short drive distances away. Park staff frequently passes which is reassuring. They make sure everything stays on the gravel pad! To discard trash you need to exit the main gate to dispose of. Water is adjacent to the site which makes toting water easy. The beached lake is shallow yet deep enough to swim and often has a lifeguard on duty. There is a dog swimming area and boat rental is next to the swimming area. Day visitors do not pay anything to spend the day with you at the campsite or use of any of the amenities, the car tag and access is free. This site does not have electric. We camped at Rocky Gap State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Buttonwood Campground, Mifflintown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This is by far our favorite cmpgrn. The outstanding staff starts with the hands on owners who are committed to being a part of your stay and will be seen daily around the grounds. The landscaping is wonderful from the potted truck bed to the neatly groomed grass at your site. The sites we have stayed at have needed minimal leveling. Buttonwood is perfect for kids of all ages with the neat activities & amenities they have to offer. The tubing down the river is a neat treat as well and will last between 45min to 2 hours depending on river depth & current. Buttonwood is split between a not busy rd which we have not had to wait to cross. We stayed on the sth side which is closer to the river than the other side with most of the amenities. The sth side has ample shade while the nth side is mostly sunny. The nrth side despite not having many tree cover does have a wonderful view of the mountain ridge. The restrooms are typically wet due to the showers however often cleaned. The staff constantly passes by to pick up trash bags placed at the end of your site & clean restrooms and each one is more than willing to assist you. The sth side you will find the train across the river a real treat to hear & see through the wood line in the evening. The train whistle is not over bearing & soon overlooked. The pool is clean yet small depending on how packed the sites are. The wine slushies at the winery barn are great. Times open varies so you will want to get them early. There is a sign maker there on Saturdays and does a great job. This cmpgrnd boasts some great themed weeks and dont forget your dollar bills for bingo. The golf carts running here and there are respectful and courteous with their speed. This campground is so laid back to let you enjoy your vacation your way yet so busy with the activities if you want to participate. This is one campground I am comfortable to allow my four kids ages 9 to 15 do their thing in groups. Highly recommend this campground. We camped at Buttonwood Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Seashore Campsites & RV Resort, Cape May, New Jersey

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in a pop up with friends at site A1 and A3. Our pop up was at A3. The check in staff was quick, knowledgeable, and very friendly. This campground has a great onsite beached pool which has two sliding board tubes in the 13' depth side of the "lake" and boasted ample lifeguards. They also provide a standard pool however did not spend much time due to proximity of our campsite and how great fun the beached "lake" was. The restrooms and showers were always clean when we went as the staff tends to them quite often. The showers range from 5 to 10 mins for a .25 depending on which stall you choose. Make sure the shower diverter is pulled all the way out so your water starts when you put your quarter in or you will think it took your money. The staff comes around in golf carts quite frequently to empty trash. The site was clean and tidy and required minimal leveling. All the sites in the back half of the campground are very spacious however would be harder to navigate with anything more than a medium travel trailer. The camp store is well stocked and has ice in both block and cubed. This is the beach please be prepared for sand, ants, and mosquitos. Also note for pet owners that there is very little grass as it's sand, pea gravel & stone. When we arrived to set up at the site our neighbors warned us of raccoon activity they were experiencing and it would behoove us to secure our food items at night. This information was evident with the holes chewed through the campground trashcans around this area. Despite the extensive cautionary securing of our coolers and food totes before going to bed, did not see or hear any during our week long stay. Every morning we were greeted by a pair of wood peckers and a blue jay searching the ground for food which was a delight early in the morning. Overall highly recommend this campground and would stay again. We camped at Seashore Campsites & RV Resort in a Tent Trailer.

The campground is very close to all Cape May beaches and also convenient to Wildwood beaches for a day trip. Downtown Cape May has a neat "mall" to shop and eat.

Knoebels Amusement Resort, Elysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The check-in staff was friendly and knowledgeable, which enabled a speedy check in process despite the line. The lot we stayed at was Saskatchewan 53 and was clean and orderly. The lot had sufficient tree shade, making for a cooler stay. The lot was unlevel and the camper required 4-1/2" of blocking. One thing to note is the location of the restrooms you had to walk to, they are a good walk from the site. Positively looking at it, because of this the site is certainly quieter than those closer to the restrooms. We did try the spring fed small campground pool. It was extremely small, very cold but refreshing on hot days. The pool life guard was great to talk to and was highly knowledgeable of the local water ways. I would recommend this camp ground and would stay again. We camped at Knoebels Amusement Resort in a Tent Trailer.
