Sherman County RV Park, Moro, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice little park to get away from the crowds down along the Columbia River. And being at a higher elevation, it's usually a bit cooler than down at the Columbia River, which can be a nice during the hottest days of summer. During our visit the park was approx. 1/3 full of permanent residents. The park a bit older and somewhat rough around the edges, but clean and well kept. It sits up on a hill overlooking the town of Moro and offers pleasing views of the surrounding countryside. There's ample room for pet walking next door on the adjacent fairgrounds. Easy access to and from the park through the town of Moro. Very quiet at night. Super friendly and helpful camp hostess. Overall a good value at current rates. We'll definitely stay here again. We camped at Sherman County RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Benton Oaks RV & Campground, Corvallis, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Good place for an overnighter or two, but not the kind of place we'd want to stay long term... nor would we consider it a destination park. It has a definite "campground" like feel with its large, mature trees and grass between sites. The park is colocated with the fairgrounds, so it could get noisy and busy if something is going on there. During our visit we observed 122 volts AC and 40 psi water pressure. Both AT&T and Verizon had adequate LTE cellular signals, but for some reason AT&T data was extremely slow while Verizon was blazing fast. As far as I can tell, there's no free WiFi available here so you're on your own. We'd definitely stay here again if it fit our travel schedule, but sure wouldn't go out of our way. We camped at Benton Oaks RV & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Holt's Shell RV Park, Gila Bend, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

LOVE this place! Convenient location on I-8 and surprisingly quiet with only minor truck noises (engine idling) which died off to almost nothing by midnight. At only $11.99 (+ tax) per night for full hookups using Passport America or Escapees membership, this is a real bargain. We originally were going to stay one night but decided to stay longer once we realized how nice a place this is. We found everything clean and well maintained.

All sites are covered with gravel and are level. Some sites have shade trees. Most sites are long pull-throughs with ample room to extend an awning. The single unisex bathroom available in the RV park area was clean. More clean bathrooms and pay showers are available at the gas station / truck stop where you check in.

Speaking of checking in: My suggestion is to park your rig alongside the truck scales located on the north side of the gas station (don't block anything) ,then go inside the gas station to register. If you pull into the RV park before you register, there's a risk you may unknowingly take a site already assigned to someone who's in the gas station registering too.

During our stay, there were maybe 8 to 10 long-term residents and their sites were kept clean and tidy. We noticed a few RV's dry camping (for free) outside the RV park area. A free dump station (with potable water) is available between the gas station and RV park.

Note that if you're considering a longer term stay here, the nearest grocery shopping and Walmart is some 41 miles to the north in Buckeye, AZ.

During our stay here the water pressure was 40psi and no-load voltage was 123. Both AT&T and Verizon had strong, moderately fast LTE signals. We'll definitely make this place a regular stop. We camped at Holt's Shell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Arabian RV Oasis, Boron, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Even though I'm giving this park only an "average" rating, I do like it and will definitely come back. It's an older park and a bit rough around the edges, but everything works, it's comfortable and clean. Sites are gravel where rigs are parked. A small concrete patio is provided for your camp chairs. A small wooden picnic table is provided and there's a mature shade tree at most sites. There's a nice patch of grass where a pool used to be (for your pets to enjoy... please clean up after them). The manager was very friendly and helpful at check in. Water pressure was 85psi. No load voltage was 122AC. Both AT&T and Verizon had good cellular service here. We didn't try the park's WiFi so can't comment on that. During the day there is some local traffic noise and there's a railroad track a few blocks away, but we hardly noticed it. Overall it's pretty quiet at night. We camped at Arabian RV Oasis in a Travel Trailer.

Elks Lodge #1298, Visalia, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second stay here after visiting almost exactly two years ago. No significant changes noted. Nothing fancy... just a safe place to spend the night with electric and water hookups (dump station on site).

We use cellular internet and found AT&T's LTE signal was surprisingly weak during this visit. Verizon's LTE signal was slightly stronger, but we found both AT&T and Verizon data speeds to be very slow.

There were maybe a dozen rigs here during our visit but plenty of spaces were left. There's a moderate amount of nearby road noise during the day and evening, but it died off during the night. We camped at Elks Lodge #1298 in a Travel Trailer.

Elks Lodge #1608, Needles, California

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Looks like rates have gone up since previous reviews... we paid $20 for full hookups. Nothing fancy, but has nice, roomy, long dirt/gravel pull-through sites. Good AC voltage (128 unloaded) and water pressure (65 psi). Plenty of room to maneuver in and out of sites. Noise from the nearby freeway and the distant rumble of freight trains can be heard during the night, but not too bad. Somewhat weak and slow AT&T LTE cellular signal at this location, but definitely useable. It can get windy here, so be prepared. We'll definitely stay again when passing through. Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second time staying at this RV park. It was excellent just like the first visit a year ago. Our site was level, paved, and clean. Power was 124v no load. Water pressure was 60 psi. AT&T has strong / fast LTE data service here. We will definitely be back again. We camped at Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Elks Lodge 2027, Lancaster, California

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Note: For Elks member use only. This is an older Elks lodge, but overall their RV park is nothing fancy but serviceable. There are approximately 21 pull-through sites, most of which should be able to accommodate a total length of about 60 feet. I think 14 of the pull-through sites have concrete pads to park on, with the rest of the RV park being gravel. Most of the pull-throughs have bi-directional hookups (pull in either way). In addition to the pull-through sites, there are plenty of back-in and parallel parking sites. I can't imagine this park ever being completely full. There are no full-hookup sites but a sewer dump is located on site. During our stay the voltage was good and water pressure was 80 psi. Both Verizon and AT&T had weak but usable LTE signals. Upon arrival, register with the friendly and helpful campground host, who's site is marked. We'll definitely stay here again. We camped at Elks Lodge 2027 in a Travel Trailer.

Elks Lodge #1298, Visalia, California

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Nothing fancy, but this is a nice, clean, safe place to spend a night. Sites are nothing more than back-in parking spots located behind the lodge in an asphalt surfaced parking lot. The electric and water connections are at the rear of each spot. The property borders a residential area to the rear and is quiet at night. While there are no sewer hookups at the spots, a dump station is located on site. There's a 7 day stay limit per month and $5 dry camping is available ONLY when all hookup sites are filled. Voltage was good during our stay. We did not use the water. Both AT&T and Verizon have a moderately strong LTE signals here. We'll definitely come stay again. We camped at Elks Lodge #1298 in a Travel Trailer.

Elks Lodge 2670, Minden, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new Elks lodge and features 5 electric-only back-in sites at the front of their parking lot near the street entrance. Self-registration. AC voltage was good. The grounds were exceptionally clean and well manicured. If needed, water can be obtained from a lawn spigot near the edge of the RV parking sites, but no sewer dump is available here. There's some noise from Kimmerling Rd. out front during the day (which is surprisingly busy) but it's quiet at night. Verizon had a strong signal and AT&T medium signal strength here. This is a good place for a quick overnight stop and we'll definitely stay again.

NOTE: For the use of current Elks members only. We camped at Elks Lodge 2670 in a Travel Trailer.

New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

WOW! What a great place to stay for an incredible price! This park is brand spanking new, roomy, and while we stayed had only 30-35 RV's per night total. The only reason I didn't give it a full 10 rating was because they don't have enough picnic tables to go around for all the sites and I wish the sites had concrete pads instead of just dirt (surrounded by gravel). The dirt sites could be a muddy mess in rain or with melting snow. However, the sites are level and clean. Water pressure was 80psi at the spigot. AC voltage was good and steady. Verizon wireless signal was medium strength and LTE. Even through your device may not indicate it, AT&T does NOT have coverage here and you WILL be roaming on a partner's network (meaning there will be data caps to stay under). The park's WiFi was excellent. The laundry room was spotlessly clean with 4 new large capacity tub washing machines and 6 large capacity gas dryers. The bathrooms and showers are amazing. There's barely any traffic noise from either I-80 or railroad tracks because of this park's distance from them and it's at a slight higher elevation. It's quiet at night. The price listed is a Passport America discounted rate (good for two nights) for the park's winter 2014/15 season with tax... probably the lowest rate we've ever paid for full hookups at a commercial RV park! We stayed 5 nights here and would've happily stayed longer if we didn't need to get on down the road. We'll definitely be back! We camped at New Frontier RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sunrise Campground, Bozeman, Montana

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice little RV park with a woodsy campground sort of feel. It's conveniently located to anything in and around Bozeman. We spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As full-time RVers, we really appreciated the they let guests wash their rig for no additional cost. The voltage and water pressure were good. Both a Verizon LTE and AT&T wireless signals were strong. We'll absolutely stay here again when visiting Bozeman! We camped at Sunrise Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Craters of the Moon National Monument/Lava Flow Campground, Arco, Idaho

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Regarding the campground itself, I can't add much to what's already been covered in previous reviews. It's definitely a strangely beautiful place and worth a stop if you don't mind dry camping. We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the quiet after traffic on the highway died down in the evening. We didn't hear any generators running. We noticed the best / largest campsites were empty before noon and taken again by about 1-2 PM each day, so definitely come early if you need lots of room. During our stay in the fall on weekdays, the campground was maybe 50% filled. An AT&T wireless signal was nonexistent. Verizon data was slow and intermittent even when using an external antenna and a signal booster. I wouldn't come here planning to stay connected. Come here to unplug and relax. We camped at Craters of the Moon National Monument/Lava Flow Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Welcome Station RV Park, Wells, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older RV park about 8 miles west of Wells, NV with easy access on and off the freeway. Despite a lack of some standard RV park amenities (no Wi-Fi, no laundry, no cable), what sets it apart is abundant, lush, green grass, a cool running creek, super friendly managers, and a laid back atmosphere. This is a great place to get off the road and relax for a few days. The managers had a community campfire going both days we stayed here. We enjoyed sitting around the fire chatting with them. During our stay the voltage was good, but water pressure was a tad on the weak side at only 40 PSI and sometime briefly less. An AT&T wireless signal was weak and barely usable here, but Verizon was stronger and their data was LTE. This park is a real gem and we'll most definitely stay here again when passing through. Price paid reflects a Passport America rate, good for two nights. We camped at Welcome Station RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Countryside RV Park, LLC, Dillon, Montana

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We experienced a friendly owner at check in. This is a very clean and well maintained park. The interior roads and RV spots are gravel surrounded by groomed grass. Each site has a picnic table. Voltage was good and the water pressure was 50psi. We didn't use the park's WiFi, but Verizon's signal strength was moderate and their data was LTE. Price paid reflects a military discount. We'll definitely stay here again when passing through. We camped at Countryside RV Park, LLC in a Travel Trailer.
