Harvest Moon RV Park, Adairsville, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Loved this little gem of a park! Everything was superbly maintained. The campground is located a short distance off the interstate and very quiet and peaceful at night. Longer term campers appeared to be located on the south end of the campground and short term campers on the north. The utilities were all functional including power, water, cable and sewer. Plenty of room for big rigs and tow vehicles. The office staff and reservationist were first class: personable, professional and efficient. A well run campground which others in the business should aspire to. Great for an serene overnight stay either before or after fighting the traffic in Atlanta. We camped at Harvest Moon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mill Creek Ranch RV & Cottage Resort, Canton, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

First let me state that I stayed in a "standard" pull thru site. Having walked thru the campground, I would recommend trying the "premium" sites as they are significantly more appealing. Had I known there were better sites available I would have chosen to pay the extra $10 to have a nicer site, but the office never mentioned it and I didn't do enough homework to know. Despite the small number of campers that night, the office placed me between two other campers (I never understand why campgrounds don't spread people out to maximize their camper's privacy and comfort). The sites are relatively close together and there is ample room for big rigs and tow cars.

The electrical and water worked fine. The sewer connection was cross threaded and unusable. The cable was like watching TV in a snow storm: useless. The park in general could use some sprucing up: trash laying around, trees needed trimming, pot holes in the roads.

It's amazing since when you drive up it looks like a first class resort but when you hit the "standard" site area, it leaves a lot to be desired. Better maintained, lower price options exist 30 miles either way down I-20, I'd recommend looking at those campgrounds or paying up to stay in the premium sites. We camped at Mill Creek Ranch RV & Cottage Resort in a Motorhome.

Deer Creek Valley RV Park, Topeka, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

First class facility which is an outstanding value. It has almost everything a great RV Resort should have including gated property, excellent spacing between sites, paved streets, concrete pads, spacious patios, lots of well maintained grass. Every time I am near Topeka I make it a point to stay at Deer Creek Valley. I down rated the park for one reason....there are many more "seasonal" campers in the park than my prior stays. It's not a big deal but the clutter around the seasonal sites detracts from an otherwise pristine RV resort. If the park would enforce their written rules and restrictions that problem would be eliminated. We camped at Deer Creek Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You gotta stop at Lonnie's BBQ just outside the park. Limited hours M-F 11am to 1pm plus dinner Friday night. Ribs are available only Thursday and Friday....trust me they are outstanding.

Lazy Day Campground, Danville, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We utilized this campground for an overnight stay. This is a very nice RV Park and pride of ownership is apparent in every aspect of the management of the park. The reservations and check-in staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were very nicely maintained and all facilities, eg. office, out buildings, etc. were well kept. The park was decorated for Halloween and it looked great. All utilities were easily accessible and were functional. Being about 1 1/2 mile off the interstate it was very quiet and peaceful at night. I should note that the road to the park is tight with no shoulder and the roads in the park itself are tight. There are a limited number of sites that could accommodate a big rig and setting up without unhooking your tow vehicle is challenging. I was unable to level to coach with my tow vehicle off the access road. Good value and a good choice for overnighters in mid-state Missouri. We camped at Lazy Day Campground in a Motorhome.

Clarksville RV Park & Campground, Clarksville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

I understand why the "No Refunds" policy is prominently displayed at check-in. We were in site 44, nearest the road, and the road noise was unbelievable. I've never before stayed in an RV park with that level of road noise. We even used a "noise" machine to mask the sound and even the sound of a babbling brook could not mask the semi's and their exhaust breaks. It continued all night long unabated. While the owners are not accountable for the noise, the extremely high ratings for this park give prospective campers a false impression of the value of the park. Coupled with the unsightly scrap metal yard which sits across the street from the park, I would not stay again in this park nor recommend it to you. That being said, the park was clean, the roads accessible for big rigs, the utilities functional and the office staff very helpful and friendly...kudos to the folks behind the counter. We camped at Clarksville RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Whistle Stop RV Resort, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The park has been open roughly 6 months and it is still under construction. Given that, IMHO the rate is excessive for the amenities available and the park condition. It has the potential to be a great RV park in the Abilene area. The staff was super friendly and helpful in making reservations via phone and during the check in process. I greatly appreciate them. The facilities are all new (buildings, pool, utilities, etc) and all were functional and operational. The roads and pads are all white crushed rock and very dusty. Each of the sites have very narrow concrete borders which make entering and exiting the site difficult. The borders were already damaged from people running over them with their RV's. There is absolutely NO grass. Sites are reasonably spacious and long enough to accommodate a big rig with tow vehicle. Appeared to be a large percentage of long-term campers in residence. Right off the Interstate 20 but the road noise was tolerable. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Canyon, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The Palo Duro Canyon is simply spectacular, 100+ miles long and several hundred feet deep. All campgrounds are located on the floor of the canyon. We stayed in the Sagebrush campground which is down a relatively steep incline into the canyon but it is the closest campground to the Amphitheater. Note the temperatures at the canyon floor are typically much hotter than the top (it was 105 degrees at the top vs 113 degrees at the campground at 3pm). The roads in are all paved and the sites are gravel. Most sites have an arbor for limited shade, a fire ring and picnic table. Electric (50 amp) and water are available at each site and there is a dump station nearby. All utilities worked well. As a state park it is rustic and remote and quiet and the stars at night are big and bright..... There is virtually no cell phone service so plan accordingly. Hiking and biking are prime activities. Don't miss the 2+ hour Texas Show at the amphitheater, it is inspiring and entertaining and features some of the friendliest cast members and staff you'll ever meet. We camped at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Jellystone Park at Coyote Ranch RV Resort, Wichita Falls, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Park is geared to kids with enough activities (2 pools, mini splash zone, mini golf, maze, etc) to keep kids entertained for a couple of days. Overall nice buildings although several of the buildings were locked so we were unable to check out the interiors. Staff was helpful and friendly. As a destination for kids it is noisy, hectic with varying degrees of parental supervision. If you want someplace for an overnight stay, I'd find another park. We traveled with kids and they had a fun time. Sites are close together, plenty long enough for big rigs and tow vehicles and the utilities worked well. Roads and pads are gravel and dusty. I thought the rates were a touch high for the amenities provided by the park. We camped at Jellystone Park at Coyote Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The Vineyards, Grapevine, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent RV Resort. Stayed in Silver site. An attractive property which is very well managed and maintained. Excellent on line reservation system which permits you to select a specific site. Based on my survey of the property, sites 78 through 93 offer the most space, most privacy and best views of the lake but no/few trees. Paved roads and pads. All utilities worked well. Near glide path for DFW Airport but noise is not obtrusive. Plenty of activities at the park (bikes, kayaks, fishing, playground, beach) but no pool. Close to a quaint downtown area with good restaurants and shops. IMHO the place to stay in the DFW area. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.
