Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Good location for visiting Bull Run National Battleground. Lots of shady trees. We arrived on Thursday, and the restrooms were not cleaned until Sunday. Even then, they were only marginally clean. Shooting range on site is very noisy. Get a site near the office to get as far from the range as possible. Wi-Fi available at office. Picnic tables next to office is the best place to get Wi-Fi signal, as the router is on the back of the building. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Public bus comes into park for transportation to the College Park Metro Station. This is most convenient. Supermarket less than one mile away. They give an orientation lecture about D.C. and the metro, which is excellent. We took the night tour, with a wonderful guide who got off the bus at every stop to explain things to us. He was funny and had very interesting stories.

Clean restrooms and showers. Lots are very close with a sunny, open exposure. My only complaint is that the restroom/shower was a little farther than most parks. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Spy Museum was disappointing. $36 for two seniors. Waited 15 minutes for the elevator to the start of the museum. Rooms quite small and dark. Difficult to read the display signs because of poor lighting and very crowded rooms. Kids seem to love it, but not recommended for seniors.

Golden Isles Vacation Park, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Check in took 15-20 minutes. Cable TV only available using their cable box, for a $40 refundable deposit, which you hook up to the back of your TV. We were not willing to take down our wall mounted flat screen TV to do this, so we had no cable. Wi-Fi okay. Ladies restroom/shower building was locked at 6:00 AM. Close to I-95 but not much traffic noise. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Motorhome.

Lazy Acres Campground, Fayetteville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight stop along I-95. Close to freeway but quiet except for one jet airplane taking off at 6:00 am (may have been military). Level pull-through site. Three very nice, private bathroom/shower combination rooms. Good water pressure and flow in shower with soap shelf and towel hooks. Excellent clean laundry, well-lighted, front-load $2 washers and dryers and TV. Good cable TV and Wi-Fi. If not for the 1/3 mile, well-groomed, gravel/dirt road coming into the park, I would have rated it a 10. We would stay here again. Very nice employees. We were led to our site by a golf cart and guided in. We camped at Lazy Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Holliday Lake State Park, Appomattox, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Laurel Ridge campground is better than Red Bud with larger, more level sites. Campground host was very helpful. We rented kayaks for $8 per hour and enjoyed the lake. The beach is wonderful with lots of climbing structures in the water for the kids. Wonderful hiking trails. No cell service or wi-fi though. We camped at Holliday Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Price of $85.00 per night for a premium site included two-day pass for two people for major attractions including gondola to mountain top, railroad ride (30 min.), Historic Village tour (1 hr., excellent), museums, 4-D dinosaur movie and other dinosaur experiences, laser light show with fireworks. We had a very good time despite lots of rain. Personnel were extremely friendly and helpful. The park itself is absolutely beautiful, landscaped, clean, green and well signed. Be aware the parking is normally $15 for entire stay, but increased to $20 for holiday week end. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

River Park RV Park, Valdosta, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

No wifi connection first 2 hours. Office unwilling to call service provider after resetting router failed to correct problem. We were offered a refund if we left, but it was raining so we stayed. Wifi came on and was intermittent thereafter. Very pretty park with lots of trees and bushes. Very close to I-75 but not too noisy because large multi-story building blocked traffic noise. We camped at River Park RV Park in a Motorhome.

San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort, Fort Myers Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Our RV club camped here for a week end rally. The park is very well maintained and clean. The restrooms are older but immaculate with lots of hot water in the shower, and extra hooks to hang your clothes and a good exhaust fan. Our club used the community room kitchen and eating area. It was too warm the first night, but that was corrected promptly and we never had that problem again. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Beach is 2 miles to left out the gate. Free parking before 9:00 AM, so we enjoyed an early beach walk. Beach access signs are posted, numbered and indicate if there is parking. Downtown parking is metered at $3 an hour. Walmart and Publix are 2.5 miles to right out the gate. Site 4 probably had the most noise as it is across from the open gate. The rest of the park is walled.

Hartwick Pines State Park, Grayling, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful state park with modern, clean, private showers and restrooms. We enjoyed the ranger-led hike through the pines and the great taxidermy at the visitor's center. There was an event at the logging museum, which we enjoyed. The sites were shaded and private. Highly recommended. I would have rated their service 5 star if they had Wi-Fi. We camped at Hartwick Pines State Park in a Motorhome.

Hitchin Post Corral and Campground, Cottondale, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new location under development by a lovely couple who couldn't have been nicer. We were led to our site and offered help in hooking up. The park is rustic and charming. Unfortunately, there is NO restroom or shower of any kind. We didn't find this out until we asked, and were too tired to drive further. The noise from I-10 was also a nuisance. Because of this, we will not return. We camped at Hitchin Post Corral and Campground in a Motorhome.

Mounds State Park, Anderson, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park did not suit our needs. We are a senior couple traveling through, staying one night, towing a car. Check-in time on Sundays and holidays is 5:00 PM, which we did not know. So we waited in our coach over an hour in the hot sun waiting for our reserved site to become available. No pull through sites were available when we reserved a few weeks prior to arrival. So after unhitching the car and getting in our site 47 (in full sun), all we wanted was a shower and peace and quiet. The shower was awful. Cement floor, push a button inside the shower stall for 20 seconds of lukewarm water. No temperature or water pressure control. No place to put your soap or shampoo. Very low water pressure made rinsing my hair a long slow process. No exhaust fan in shower area. Very old building. That said, this would be great for families with little kids. Lots of children riding bikes and playing in the grassy area. We camped at Mounds State Park in a Motorhome.

Texas T Campground, Cornersville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Well maintained park with lots of grass and trees at some sites. Good location just off I-65. Friendly employee checked us in. The office sells ice and ice cream. Our site #20 faced into the evening sun which we did not like since we are in a motor home. Good Wi-Fi but only 6 local channels on the TV. The shower was so small that my elbows bumped the walls when I shampooed. The flow restricter on the shower head made it difficult to rinse my hair. We camped at Texas T Campground in a Motorhome.

Capital City RV Park, Montgomery, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Beautifully landscaped with flowering trees, lawn, bushes. Very well maintained park. Sidewalk encircling large pond is great for walking. Super accommodating owner immediately rebooted the Wi-Fi router to provide a strong signal. He even let us keep some of the ice we bought from him in his freezer overnight. Nice dog park and kids playground equipment. Private restrooms with shower. Highly recommended. We camped at Capital City RV Park in a Motorhome.
