By far this is the nicest campground we have ever been to. So pretty and full of great features. From the on-site laundry, the paved roads, many playgrounds, beautiful beach right on Silver Lake, and only 15 minutes to downtown Traverse City. This place really has it all! Very clean and quiet. We recommend this park to anyone we know who camps. The staff is very helpful and friendly and goes out of their way to help you. Note...out of 193 sites, only 13 are on the "island". Try to get a lakefront site if you can. The view is beautiful!

Overall I would say this is a nice park. It is not glamorous or resort-like by any means, but it is located right on Lake Huron with a large beach, a nice large playground, and a well stocked camp store with ice cream. There is also wheelchair/stroller access down to the beach, which was really nice. We had a nice shaded site that was level and partially grassy. We were happy to have a 30 amp electric hookup and a water hookup, but there are no sewer hookups, so we had to utilize the dumping station as we left. We camped here the weekend after most schools got out for the summer and were afraid it would be over-run with kids, but it was so nice and relatively quiet. We were very pleased, and would definitely go back.

We have camped at this campground 3 times in the past 2 years. Our kids are now 4 and 6, and if you have small children, this is the place for you! Yes, the campsites are a bit cozy (you have to try to get a deluxe site), but it has never really bothered us, since we have only gone here for weekend stays, we can put up with it for 2 nights. What is so nice is that you never have to leave the park if you don't want to, and your kids will not get bored. There are lots of themed weekends with planned activities every hour or so, as well as a great playground and beautiful indoor pool/whirlpool. We highly recommend this campground to anyone with small children. With the exception of the close sites, it is one of the nicest we have ever camped at. NOTE: At the time of our stay in May 2007, small fires were allowed at campsites with some restrictions. So bring your own fire pit and enjoy a private campfire!
