Defeated Creek Park COE, Carthage, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Nice swimming beach. We loved our spot directly in front of the beach. Level lot. No cell phone service for AT&T or Verizon. Hidden gem close to Nashville and we'll definitely be back if we can snag another full service lakefront spot. We camped at Defeated Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Marina nearby has a little cafe for breakfast that was good and cheap. Not much else out here so bring all you need.

Montgomery Bell State Park, Burns, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We had a creekfront site. We knew ahead of time the sites would be close together, so it wasn't a surprise. Level lot. Poorly position campfire ring. We didn't use the bathrooms but they were buggy and needing updating. Playground equipment out of date and all aluminum which isn't ideal in Summer. It's a good place to go that is an hour from Nashville, so we'll be back in the fall for a short trip. Strangely, there were a large number of flies. We've been camping throughout middle Tennessee and haven't encountered as many as we did here. We camped at Montgomery Bell State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Kids eat free for lunch on Sundays at the state park restaurant. It was a good southern fixins buffet.

Davy Crockett Campground, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We love this place. We have tent camped and stayed in a trailer in Campground 1. We love the creek - it's our favorite of all the parks we've been to this summer. Playground is great and safe for kids to bike around the Campground loop. Sites on the creek are great but you'll have to park on the grass across from your site since they aren't long enough. Our site had a path to the creek, was shady and wooded, but couldn't fit much larger of a trailer than our 22' hybrid. The state park has lots of little things to do like a small museum and a waterfall play area. Lake was not that exciting - too hot to be in the sun in June. We camped at Davy Crockett Campground in a Travel Trailer.
