Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA , Montgomery, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here several times in the past and this park's environment has definitely changed. It's a large and well designed park that remains a relatively decent stay for the occasional campers. However, subtle changes have decreased this park's attractiveness for full-timers. As in the past, we opted to stay here for nearly 3 weeks, as we use the opportunity to order things we need. However, we learned that the new management will no longer accept packages. There use to be fun signs posted near the fish ponds, and the cabins had clever names instead of numbers. All the fun signage is now gone and the cabins are "Cabin-1, Cabin-2" etc. Even though a search for wifi shows some 23 different routers, the access is extremely spotty and often non-existent. They either will not link, or are so incredibly slow that they are essentially useless. I'm not talking streaming here! We couldn't even load email or simple webpages. Nor did the cable TV work. After I told management about it, they sent someone right out to check the cable signal. There was none. After finding the cable junction box full of ants and dirt, he said he would be back to kill the ants and fix the cable. Yet, after nearly 3 weeks, we still had no cable. Furthermore, the ants on and around our site were so bad that they inundated our coach! That was exacerbated by the fact that when the grass was mowed on the very first day, the side discharge industrial mower was pointed right at our space, inundating our steps, rug, wheel covers, chairs, and everything else we had outside with dirt and grass clippings. That no doubt helped create the environment for fire ants, pharaoh ants, and every other form of ant known to man. Bottom line... we looked forward to moving on. And, it's quite likely that on our next stop in the area, we'll be looking for a different place to stay. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is actually near the small town of Montgomery, which is an historic and fun town with cute shops and wineries. It's also close to Lake Conroe, with all of its waterfront restaurants and activities. Keep in mind, however, that this park is neither close to Houston or close to I-45.

Blackwell Island RV Park, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We now understand the negative reviews, but not the good ones. We felt since we travel through this area often, we needed to try this place. We did, and we won't be coming back. It doesn't matter where a park is located, or how expensive it is. It can still be a bad park. This place is very expensive because it's in Coeur d'Alene. We get that, and would again pay the price, if it was nice. However, this one isn't. The roads and pads are gravel... sort of. They're actually mostly dirt. They are extremely narrow... so much so that I almost couldn't make the turn down our "road" or into our space. The spaces are also so short that we couldn't get our rig and Jeep tow both into our space. Each had to hang over into the roads that were already too narrow. Although the utilities are conveniently positioned, the patio side consists of mostly dead grass and weeds, and is very small. The wifi reception is terrible and it is too slow to even get email. Everything times out, so don't plan on doing much of anything with the park's wifi. If you decide to come here, bring your own hotspot or use your phone. This park probably stays reasonably full in the summer months, mostly because of its location. Families with kids will pay to come here just to be near the water, even though this "family friendly" park charges yet another $5 for every person exceeding... get this... TWO! It's unfortunate that such a prime location is wasted on such a mediocre park, especially when one would expect to find a true RV "Resort" here. It is what it is. You've been warned. If you decide to spend the big bucks to stay here, don't expect much bang for your buck. It's just not here. We were VERY disappointed! We camped at Blackwell Island RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Coeur d'Alene is a great resort town, and the lake and Spokane river offer much in the way of water activities. It's a summertime boater's paradise.
