Estes Park KOA, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

This campground's location near Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park are what drives the price for staying here. We had read previous members' comments, so we were not surprised by the tight quarters. We knew we would be off the grounds the majority of our stay, so the spacing was not a major concern on this trip. We would stay here again under similar circumstances. Since we were in an RV site, we did not hear a lot of road noise, but if you are staying in a tent, you will hear traffic. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the train for kids was cute, and they offer breakfast and ice cream socials as well as a shuttle, which we did not use. There is so much to do in the area, so if you don't plan on hanging out at the campground you will be fine. Parking can be an issue - we parked in an empty site beside us the first night, thanks to the staff member telling us it would be unoccupied. The next night we had to ask our neighbor if we could back in in front of them, and they graciously agreed. We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The drive up to the Alpine Visitor's Center on the one-way dirt road was amazingly beautiful, but not for the faint-of-heart! We also discovered a lovely walking path behind the main drag in Estes Park.

St. Louis RV Park, St. Louis, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent location, very friendly, helpful owner. We were offered the military discount since my father in law had served, which was a pleasant surprise. The park is easy to find and close enough to attractions. Quiet in the evenings, some traffic noise during the morning but nothing unexpected. We plan to stay here again on future visits to this fun city! We camped at St. Louis RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We drove into the heart of the city and used garage parking so we could explore more on foot. Do yourself a favor and grab a meal at the Broadway Oyster Bar. Everything we chose was delicious - the oyster medley was a standout! There's great music there as well as at BBs Blues, Jazz and Soups and Beale on Broadway. It's an easy walk from the arch and stadium.

Woodland Acres Campground, Brownfield, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Friends who lived in this area checked out several campgrounds and recommended this one to us. Since we were visiting our friends, we did not spend a lot of time at the campground. However the pool looked very inviting, the campground was well taken care of, and there were many canoes available to rent right on site. We had plenty of room on our site, and trees between sites created a sense of privacy. Drawbacks were the sandy site surface, and the abundance of hungry mosquitoes. The area had seen a lot of rain, so that may be a big factor with the mosquito issue. We camped at Woodland Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Timberland Acres RV Park, Trenton, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

What a gem of a park! Timberland Acres was impeccably kept, spots were generous and everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. Although we did not take advantage of the amenities such as the pool and shuttle to Acadia Welcome Center, they were great options to have available. We received a little welcome sample of delicious chocolate from Haven's - nice extra touch from an RV park that goes out of their way to accommodate their patrons! We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

North Beach Campground, Burlington, Vermont

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is very close to the city and waterfront, two big benefits. I was a little leary based on some reviews I read, but we liked it so much we are hoping to return soon. We were not able to extend our stay due to other commitments we had, otherwise we would have inquired. We stayed in the full service area for sites 1-15 and it was peaceful, level and within a very short walk to the beach. You don't need to enter through the exit any more since they have removed the overhang that previously created an issue for RVs. We camped at North Beach Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Bring your bike to enjoy the beautiful trail that runs along the waterfront. We also enjoyed the lovely swings situated in the shade along the impeccably clean boardwalk.

Burlington is a gem of a city to take in, so enjoy every moment!

Wellesley Island State Park, Fineview, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at a NYS park and we were impressed with the beautiful grounds and upkeep of same. Although we did not have a waterfront site, we were within an easy walk to the water. Touring each loop, many sites were waterfront and just spectacular. We camped at Wellesley Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a $2.75 toll for cars to get on the island, but definitely worth it given the benefits of staying at this park. Do take the Boldt Castle tour/2 Nation tour as it was interesting and so pretty. Clayton is a lovely town to visit - a little more sophisticated/upscale than Alex Bay, which we enjoyed also.

Letchworth State Park, Castile, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

My husband and I were so impressed with how perfectly kept this park is. The trails were clear, vast expanses of lawn neatly trimmed, everything left pristine to truly do justice to the natural beauty that surrounds you. Don't hesitate to make reservations at this gem of a park. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at the Glen Iris Inn to celebrate our anniversary. Prices were very reasonable, dress code relaxed and service was excellent. Be sure to stop at Inspiration Point and the Glen Iris Inn for photos. The view is breathtaking from both locations!

Surf & Stream Campground, Toms River, New Jersey

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

My husband selected this campground since choices near Toms River were limited. We only had 2 nights, and the other campground required a 3 night stay since it was Memorial Day weekend. The campground did put on a nice welcome BBQ Friday evening, which was a nice touch. However, we would not stay here again. Sites were extremely close, and there are many rundown trailers/campers in here. Our neighbors reported a loud argument was going on the night before we arrived, fueled by alcohol or other substances. The island was scary, with power cords running all over the place, and the rust colored stream was barely moving. Three stars for value, service are based on giving consideration to the location. We camped at Surf & Stream Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

After seeing a few of the other campgrounds around Gettysburg, we felt we had made a good choice by staying here. The amenities were excellent, plenty to do for kids, and easy access to laundry room which we used. Check in was quick and efficient, staff friendly. My only complaint was that there was no grass at all, just gravel. We had our elderly dog with us, and it was not practical to walk him down to the doggy walk area. They did have a nice pet playground, but we did not make use of it. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We hiked a bit of the Appalachian Trail and another trail near our campsite. Missed out on the museum since we didn't realize it wasn't open daily in April.
