Bridge RV Park & Campground, White Salmon, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Fairly tight roads and sites, but not excessively so. We had grass at our site and the staff encourages clean rigs, so washing your RV on site is OK. Cable for me was very fuzzy, so went OTA and got a number of Portland-based channels that were very clear. Train noise was minimal, unless they blow the horn, which was rare. Road noise was a bit bothersome outside, but not distracting. On most days I'm sure that there could be spectacular views of the river and gorge, but on the day I stayed there was a lot of smoke from the area wildfires, so visibility was only about 1 mile. Park staff advises to NOT drive your RV over the Hood River Bridge. We came in from the east and were advised to cross at The Dalles, on US 197. While this bridge was also a bit narrow, there was no toll. If coming from the west, ask the office for the best place to cross. My site was long enough for my 40-foot class A, but barely. We had to disconnect the toad before moving into the site. All the sites seem to be a bit on the short side. I would probably stay here again if in the area. We camped at Bridge RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Holiday RV Park, North Platte, Nebraska

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

One of the fastest check-ins I've ever had at a campground. Close to I-80, but freeway noise was blocked out by the front office and trees. Some sites are treed, providing shade, others are not, giving a clear view of the sky for satellite. Some long-term/seasonal spots along the east and north side of park and were well-tended. I had no issued with either water pressure or highway noise, but our site was towards the back of the campground. Bonus: The pool is shaped like the state of Nebraska. I will definitely choose this campground when in the area again. We camped at Holiday RV Park in a Motorhome.

Farm Country Campground, Williamston, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

What a hidden gem of a campground! The 24 sites are mostly grass with W/S/E conveniently located. The only reason I gave this CG a 9 is the lack of cable TV, but there are about 10 OTA channels. CG is also slightly overpriced taking into account the lack of amenities (pool, cable tv) My wife would not stop raving about the clean and spacious restrooms and showers. She also thought the laundry facilities were well maintained. There used to be a pool at the office, but it's now closed and filled with sand and concrete. The CG was mostly filled with long-term campers working locally, and all were very quiet. We will make a point to stay at this campground again if anywhere in the area. Wifi signal was strong and worked well. We camped at Farm Country Campground in a Motorhome.

North American RV Park & Yurt Village, Coram, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Cheaper than a lot of other campgrounds in the area. Wifi in and just outside the office was OK, anything more than 50 feet away was quite poor. Poor to non-existent T-Mobile service, both phone and data, and that poor service extended through most of the area. The campground itself was clean, with gravel roads and sites. Dust was an issue at times. Only 2 dumpsters for the entire CG, and they were full just a couple of days after being emptied. Many of the other campers we talked with during our walks were multiple repeat visitors to the CG. We camped at North American RV Park & Yurt Village in a Motorhome.

Holiday Trav-L-Park, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

For being in an area with a large military population, they do not offer any military discount. There are over 700 sites at this CG, yet at prime 4pm check-in time there were only 2 people working the desk. There had been a lot of rain in the week preceding our visit, and there was a lot of standing water throughout the park, including the entrance road. Sites appeared to be gravel, but had not been replenished or graded in some time. The main pool by the office had nightly entertainment and was quite loud, but even noticeable at our site, quite some distance from the pool. The party went on well past 11pm. Laundry facilities by the office were small, and always occupied, then closed at 10:30pm. Like many resort campgrounds, any guests, no matter why they were visiting, were charged $6.00. Wifi at our site was so weak we did not bother trying to sign in. Plus, you only get 1 hour free every 12 hours. Any more than that is charged extra. T-Mobile data was poor, phone service was OK. For being right in a major population center, OTA channels were weak. Our site was heavily trees, so satellite would not have worked. It's unlikely we would stay at this CG again, but did seem nicer and cleaner than the KOA across the road. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Motorhome.

Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Typical high-priced KOA. This was the first KOA I've been to that did not offer a military discount. What irked me the most was charging $6 per person for guests who were joining us for a cookout. I could understand the fee if they were staying for the day and using the pool and other facilities, but my guests stayed for maybe 1.5 hours max and did not leave our site. Grounds were well-maintained with grass well-trimmed and watered. Very little dust from the gravel roads. Even though the area had experienced heavy rain and flooding just the week before, there was no standing water anywhere in the campground. Garbage was picked up daily on-site. We camped at Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA in a Motorhome.

Brook View RV Park & Campground, Hubbardsville, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Known locally as the Caanan Campground or Baja Shop Campground. High priced for what you get. Sites are just grass, and you can't tell where one site starts and another ends. I must have been the first camper at my site for some time, as I had to let the water run for almost 5 minutes before the rusty water ran clear. Once it was clear, it was good-tasting water with excellent pressure and volume. We were the only short-term camper in the CG, with all others permanent or seasonal. Although it rained, hard, every single day we were there, there was very little puddling or soft ground in the CG. No wifi, no T-Mobile service, phone or data, no cable TV, no OTA channels. Campground is family-owned and owner was very helpful, and we were invited to a family campfire one night. Very convenient to Hamilton and Colgate University, but for the price, I might look elsewhere in the future. We camped at Brook View RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Ray Brothers BBQ in Bouckville was excellent - try the BBQ meatloaf. New York Pizzeria in New Berlin has the best Italian food outside of Italy.

Rondee's Campground, Mitchell, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here after choices 1 and 2 were booked. It's a gravel lot behind a motel. They advertise a pool but don't tell you it's $5 extra per person until you check in. They don't call it a pool, but a 'water park', since it has a slide and waterfalls. The water was a bit chilly, but the main thing that kept us out of the pool most of the time was the very loud kids that were in the pool. Normally it wouldn't be too bad, but the pool is indoors, causing the screams and shrieks to be amplified and echoed. For an overnight stop, not bad, but I would not want to stay there long-term.

The campground itself was okay. Not good, not bad. Sites were close, but not on top of each other. It was OK for an overnight, but I would probably look elsewhere for a multi-day stay. We camped at Rondee's Campground in a Motorhome.

Ate at the Pizza Ranch across the street. Not the best pizza, but it was an all-you-can-eat buffet of various pizza styles.

Seattle / Tacoma KOA, Kent, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed Thursday through Saturday night. Yes, the sites are tight, but for a campground that was probably built in the 60s, it's to be expected - rigs overall have gotten a lot larger. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it's a KOA, and it's in an urban industrial area. It is what it is. We were originally given a 40-foot site, which we were able to get into without much problem, but a tree was blocking the kitchen slide. Went to the office and they gave us a 50-foot site, letting us know up front that there was only 30A at that site and no cable. No problem, it wasn't hot enough to need A/C. Thursday night the campground owner hosted a wine tasting party for adults, and Friday night had a beer tasting - both for free, and you could spin for prizes, such as a free breakfast or 40% off apparel in the store. As far as the mud and puddles - that's just Seattle in the winter. Would I stay here again? If I needed an urban campground in the Seattle area, absolutely. We camped at Seattle / Tacoma KOA in a Motorhome.

Buffalo Crossing RV Park, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

39 foot Class A. As mentioned, basically a gravel parking lot with small strips of grass in the pull-through sites. WiFi available with code, would disconnect at random 2-3 times per day, but usually back up within minutes. During our stay, it appears as if there will be paving/blacktop going in soon - the roads were scraped and it looked like there was new concrete curbing around the landscaping. Fee included some discount coupons for the adjacent IMAX theater and gift store. You can't beat the ease of access to the west entrance to Yellowstone. No shade at the moment, but newly installed trees should provide some shade to the end sites in coming years. My wife and I both agree that we would stay here again. We camped at Buffalo Crossing RV Park in a Motorhome.
