A-Okay RV Mobile Home and RV park, Dothan, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice spot to spend a few days while visiting Dothan AL. The owners of the park are hands on and it appears they work 24/7. We booked a spot on the blind while running away from our home in Central Florida during the advent of Hurricane Irma on Sept 6th 2017. These guys did a super job in accommodating as many RVs at they could during this very trying period. In spite of the park being jammed full, everything in the park worked perfectly. The park is situated on a working 100 acre farm which is owned and operated by the park owners/ managers. They have a nice walking trail which covers about half the 100 acres through the woods. There are ducks and chickens to feed as well a cattle to view. All in all it was a pleasant experience considering the drama currently going on in the State of Florida. Sites are fairly level and the owner even came over to assist in putting a couple of two by sixes under the tires to make it perfectly level. Great people, nice campground. We camped at A-Okay RV Mobile Home and RV park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Only about 4 miles from the highway that circles Dothan. All of the big box stores are located within easy access as well as a number of nice restaurants. Take the time to go visit the chickens and ducks. Bring some food to feed them. I understand that the little lake on site is full of Bream which you can catch and keep. No license required.

The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park has the right idea. A great inexpensive place to spend the night with all the hookups. All drive thru sites, all level all connections in the right place. They have what they call an express section they use exclusively for overnighters for a reasonable price. The place is also immaculate. Laundry room, showers, toilets etc. are spotless. This is our second stay and anytime we are passing through this area we will plan on spending the night here if it fits our schedule. We camped at The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads in a Fifth Wheel.

Hilltop Farm Campsites, Mountain Dale, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Cheap place to stay for an overnight stop. We stayed two days so we could visit Bethel on the second day. Water was good, sewer hook-up worked, electric worked, grass was cut and smelled great. We were the only camper in the park that wasn't seasonal but we didn't come there to socialize. Nice quiet place at night to sleep without noise of noisy kids running around.

Be prepared to not be wowed or highly impressed. The place is run down but serviceable. Priced fairly using Passport but I certainly would not pay $51.00 a night to stay here. With a little effort someone could probably make a decent campground out of this place. It certainly has the potential. We camped at Hilltop Farm Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Timberland Lake Campground, Jackson, New Jersey

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped to spend 4 nights at this campground originally due to its proximity to New York City via train. We stayed in spite of the negative reviews and were prepared for the worse. What a pleasant surprise this turned out to be. Valid complaints were stated about the roads into and in the campground being bumpy and narrow. This was accurate and much work could be done to improve these conditions. None of the conditions are severe enough to damage the trailer or tow vehicle however and once you are in and set up it is a very nice place to camp. As I said to the clerk in the office we are set up, the site is level, the water, electric and sewer all work and we get great satellite reception. In addition, the office personnel are super nice and very accommodating. What more could you expect and the Passport rate was honored in the busy season which is something many of the Passport Parks do not do. To top things off in addition to providing me with a great rate they gave me an additional $20.00 first time customer discount which was not anticipated. I would highly recommend this as a great place to camp if your plans take you to NY City or to Six Flags which is about 4 miles from the CG. Enjoy. The train station to NY Penn Station is about 21 miles from the CG. Rate includes Passport discount in addition to a first-time customer discount and is averaged for the 4 days. The site was sunny because this is what I requested in order to get good satellite coverage. We camped at Timberland Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Chicago Northwest KOA, Union, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed a week there to be near friends who were seasonal campers there. Very disappointed in the overall condition of the place. Very busy park and I get the impression that they have as much business as the need. Laundry room was filthy perhaps as a result of some flooding but in general it looked pretty shabby. For the money we paid I expected a lot more. Poorly designed entry and exit with a single long road the only access and barely able to accommodate two passing rvs if even possible. My biggest gripe is the quality of the water. It was disgusting and we couldn't wait to leave so we could move on to the next place, drain the tanks and water heater in order to finally take a clean shower to get the smell from our skin. If it had not been for wanting to be with friends we would have left the first day although I doubt very much we would have received a refund. Sites are tight but usable. We camped at Chicago Northwest KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
