The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park served as a pit-stop for us on our summer journey. It's very easy access off of the 95. Check in was simple and we were given a pull through site. Sites are roomier than many parks we've visited. Our site was a concrete pad, easy to level and came equipped with a picnic table. We were told it was 60' in length, but we couldn't manage to fit our tow-car in the space with the motorhome, so not confident in the accuracy of their measurement. They do have convenient overflow parking. Electric worked flawlessly in 95-100 degree heat. They do offer cable with limited channels, but not a lot of trees or shade, so the satellite should work as well. Very large dog park. Also a nice pool area to cool off. Great stop off park if you're heading up (or down) I-95. Wifi is okay, although they have some sort of bandwidth metering system in place. Not certain what the attraction is to this area, but the place was packed, and some look like they've been here for a while. All in all, nice park. We'd stay here again for a night or so if in the area. We camped at The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Two historical towns close by that are worth visiting -- Halifax which is rich with history, and Weldon, which in addition to the historical component, is also the "Rockfish Capital of the World." Nice, large antique mall in an old mill in Weldon. Each town is not too far from the RV park.

Bethpage Camp Resort, Urbanna, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a motorcoach rally, so the RV park was chosen for us. The place is massive - 1200 spots - some nightly/weekly and most had more permanent dwellings. The RV site we had was in a grassy area and partially shaded which was nice in the mid-July heat. Site was mostly level, easily accommodated our 43' motorhome, and had a picnic table. Nicely laid out park with lots to do for kids. Great pool area with waterslides, man-made lake, mini-golf just to name a few. All services worked as expected. They also have cable tv, which provided plenty of channels. Wifi was decent and we got Verizon 4G service without any issues. My only deterrent for returning is the children running around out of every orifice of the park (bikes, running, golf carts, skateboards) - and a lot without any type of parental supervision, even late into the evening. One kid simply cruised up and down the main drag in a decorated golf cart blaring rap music, constantly. We were there mid-week, so we can only imagine the chaos on a weekend or holiday. Did not use the facilities (bathrooms, etc) and were so busy with the rally events that we never checked out the store. They did have a very nice event center. Staff we had contact with were all very courteous. Gated entry to the park which is a bonus. There's a person on site that makes custom wooden signs. He does a great job (got one for the coach). If we find ourselves in that area in the future, we'd probably stay there again -- just after Labor Day. Urbanna is a cute, quaint historic town. We camped at Bethpage Camp Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you're looking for local seafood, check out the Urbanna Seafood and Raw Bar. It's very close to Bethpage resort (you can see some of the campers from the deck of the restaurant). Right on the creek with great sunset views. Friendly staff and decent prices. Get the steamed crabs.
