Washoe Lake State Park, Carson City, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

There were plenty of sites available when we got there around 8:30 in the evening. The ranger station was closed, so we put the overnight fee in an envelope and dropped it in the indicated spot. The envelopes tell you how to make out a check if you want to do that. Even though it was July, the temperatures were reasonable in the evening. There are two loops; we stayed in the 2nd one since it was the first one we saw. The rest room building has a shower but the door for it doesn't have a label. The spots were level, there were some trees and a lot of scrub and jackrabbits, and picnic areas with roofs over them to keep off the sun. We camped at Washoe Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Potwisha (NPS Campground), Sequoia National Park, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

We used a Golden Age pass to get the rate we had. We had a 22' RV so we were able to go on the winding roads in the park to the Visitor Center and the General Sherman tree, and out the north side. Our site was not level (#12) but it appeared the sites in the 20's were level, from driving around the campground. We parked so our heads were on the uphill side of the unit and we were fine with not being level, since we were there only one night. There are no connections. The bathrooms are adequate, and there is electricity in the bathroom that we could use for our coffee grinder. There were many tent campers. It was a lovely area to camp in and made a good starting point for viewing the park the next day. We camped at Potwisha (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Mather Campground (NPS Campground), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in a disabled site and couldn't tell the difference between it and the others, except maybe that it was close to the rest rooms. We had a pull-through site around a tree and we were in a 22' RV. The location is great for being close to the canyon and the facilities there. It's a wooded area and not hard to find. Campers have trees between them, in an open woodland. We arrived after the ranger office was closed and the campground was full, but we were able to find our reservation from the map left for us at the ranger station. We camped at Mather Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

United Campground of Durango, Durango, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This park is on a driveway downhill off the main road, but has a big sign so you know where to turn. It slopes down to the railroad tracks that run between the RV spaces and the tent spaces. The Durango & Silverton goes through 3 times in the morning and 3 times in the afternoon on the railroad tracks. The office is at the top, and there is a nice pool next to the office that is open until 8:45 pm. There is a small store next to the office. The internet did not work for us. There were about 6 different possible connections, but it really only worked in the office. Sites were close together. The place was full when we got there - they just had one spot, which they gave to us. We had tried to call to reserve a space, but the person answering the phone asked us to hold while she transacted some business with a customer, then forgot to pick the phone up again. Spaces were close together. There were mature trees every couple of spaces for shade. We camped at United Campground of Durango in a Motorhome.

Pagosa Riverside Campground, Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were level with full hookups, and were near a small river with a large pond that had a walking trail around it. Tents were on the other side of the pond. We were on gravel, and there were shady areas, but we were not in one. We called ahead for a reservation for that night. The park was mostly full when we got there. RVs were pretty close together. The wifi only worked in the office building, not in our RV. We camped at Pagosa Riverside Campground in a Motorhome.

KC's RV Park, Syracuse, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a lot between some homes and some grain silos, across the railroad tracks from the main part of town, which is small. There are 12 sites with electric, water and some sewer - the first one we looked at did not have sewer, but the next one did. It was not full when we got there and there were two other campers still there when we left the next morning. We called ahead to make a reservation and were told to pay at KC's restaurant on the main street in town, a couple of blocks away, when we left. There are no trees or greenery, just gravel lot. It was level. Sites were pull-in. We camped at KC's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Miller's Kampark, Liberty, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The rate was $24.95 plus $2 for a third person. We paid with a check. To get there, you have to head for the Lowe's store, then turn left and go around the store to the back, to a driveway leading past a building with a construction office in it. Behind the construction office is the entrance to the campground. We almost thought it was just a house driveway, but it led to the campground. The place was almost or entirely full when we got there, but we had called ahead to reserve a spot. RVs were parked pretty close together. We were in a area for smaller RVs, but next to us was a big fifth wheel with the truck parked next to it. The rest rooms were old, but adequate, and were in the office building at the entrance to the park. The site was a back-in or pull-in site, was level, and had full connections. We camped at Miller's Kampark in a Motorhome.

Grant Village Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Big campground, lots of tent campers, pull through parking around a tree. We arrived after the ranger office was closed, the campground was totally full, but we had a reservation that was posted with about two dozen others on the window of the ranger office to tell us where our spot was. Rest rooms were nearby for each loop and were old but clean and functional. There is a restaurant nearby if you don't feel like cooking, overlooking Yellowstone lake. Yellowstone is so big that it takes a while to get from one point to another. It was 20 miles from the park entrance to the campground. We enjoyed the hot springs at West Thumb nearby the next morning. Going to the other attractions - geysers, Mammoth, etc. takes most of the day since you are going 20 miles or so to each one at 40 miles an hour at best. We camped at Grant Village Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Olson Park, Worthington, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We called ahead since we expected to arrive after regular hours and caught the one person at the park before she left for the evening and she told us to just find a vacant spot. To find it, she said to follow the signs, and we did. Rates were $36 lakeside or $27 non-lakeside. We were there for only one night so we didn't need lakeside. When we got there, the place was mostly empty, but many of the campsites had "reserved" for someone on them, so it took some hunting to find a spot that wasn't reserved. It was still mostly empty the next morning - I don't know what the spots were reserved for. There was only electricity, but it was a peaceful place. We camped at Olson Park in a Motorhome.

Custer State Park - Sylvan Lake Campground, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

The park entry fee was $20. Campground fee was $21 for sites with electricity and $19 for sites without. There is another $7 fee for campers who are not South Dakota residents. The Needles road has a passageway through rock walls that is too narrow for motorhomes, so beware of that. We came in after the park rangers had left for the day, so we paid the $20 in an envelope at the entrance. The camping fee we paid online in advance. The campsites had electricity only. We had a site near the entrance, but there was no traffic on the road, just the babbling brook that goes under the entrance, so it was quiet. This campground is at the north end of the park, convenient if you are coming in from the north. The rest rooms were fine, located in the center of the campground loop. There is a store a short distance away, near the lake. We camped at Custer State Park - Sylvan Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Campbell's Green Oasis Campground, Greybull, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night. There were three of us, so there was a $3 additional charge to the $35 rate. We paid by check. The rate was for cash or check; credit card would be more. This was a pleasant place to spend the night, with pull-through parking and immaculate rest rooms and showers. The internet wasn't working in the evening, but it was late so we went to bed. In the morning we inquired and the owner said there had been a power outage and she rebooted the router - after that it worked fine. We did not have a tow vehicle, but other campers did, with no problems. We camped at Campbell's Green Oasis Campground in a Motorhome.

Oquirrh Inn Motel & RV Park, Tooele, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We called ahead in the morning and they said they had a space which they would hold for us. The hotel runs the RV park in its back parking lot, which has 10 sites. The laundry room has a toilet, but is closed from 11 pm-6 am. The park has pull-through parking. All connections are provided. All the sites are in a row across the side of the back parking lot. Other campers had trailers, fifth wheels and motorhomes. We were in the spot farthest from the hotel - wifi didn't work for us there. We camped at Oquirrh Inn Motel & RV Park in a Motorhome.
