Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground, Dauphin Island, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Cute little (12-space) RV park across the street from the pier/boardwalk to the beach. Owners are friendly and helpful. The property includes a small pool to relax by, and the upper deck (off the office) with high-top tables for relaxing or socializing. During peak season the office sells hand-dipped ice-cream. There are several places to eat within a mile, as well as Ship & Shore (the main place for groceries or anything else you need). We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Stock-up on groceries before coming to the island. We made supply trips back to Walmart once a month, and picked up anything else we needed at Ship & Shore Supplies. Nearby restaurants include The Islander (next door), a BBQ and Pizza place about a half mile west, JT's Sunset Grill, and several others. The most highly recommended place is Skinner's Seafood (take-out only), where you get to choose your favorite fish/shellfish, sides, and seasonings and everything is made fresh to go.

Hickories Park, Owego, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park is in a lovely setting and has a variety of camping options (grass, gravel, blacktop, 30 or 50amp FHUs). We stayed in space #48 (gravel 30amp FHU) in the main camping area. We don't have a dog but enjoyed walking over to the dog park area (where the only trash dumpsters were) almost daily. It's an easy walk (1-mile) to Top's Grocery and several fast food spots, and an easy bike ride (2.5 miles) to town (post office, laundry, etc., etc.) The park has lots of walking paths. It was easy to have mailed forwarded here, and even though the office is only open M-F ~9am-3pm the staff were super helpful. We camped for 2-weeks, and will definitely come back. The downside to our section only was every 2 sites shared a hookup post, which put another rig close to you on one side. On the other hand they are all pull throughs (sites 1 thru 10 and 47 thru 57). We camped at Hickories Park in a Motorhome.
