Deer Rest Camp Park, Warsaw, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A quiet little campground. Outside loop had mostly long term but the sites were kept very clean. No accumulations of "stuff" like you see in so many long term spaces. Inside loop had short term and overnight. A little tight to put our 36 foot fifth wheel in, but we managed it with a few backup and adjustments. Space was shaded and fairly level. Only took one block to level. Site had 30 amp, water, but no sewer for the short timers. Did have an easy to reach dump station. Spaces were pretty close together but there were lots of trees, so we were shaded 80% of the time. No cable and trees blocked satellite, but got several local channels, but no ABC, NBC, etc. We were literally right on the lake. My husband had a great time fishing--caught several catfish (could have been keepers), and several carp. Threw them all back, but fun to catch. It had rained a lot the previous few days, so the grass needed mowing, but the last day we were there they were busy getting it groomed again. Bathrooms were older but clean. Good places to walk dog, but beware--out in treed area (next to campsite), there was some poison ivy growing. Owners were super nice and made us feel welcome. This is a cash only campground. All people we met (including campers) were friendly. Would definitely stay here again. This is not your resort style campground with pool, table games, entertainment, etc. But it is a nice place to kick back and relax. We camped at Deer Rest Camp Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mesa Verde RV Park, Wolfforth, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The park was easy in and out--right off the freeway. Check-in was easy and the staff worked with us when we wanted to cut our visit a day short. The sites were very level -

hard packed gravel and all the short term visitors got a pull-through site. The bathrooms were coded and had no problems with the doors. The bathroom were very clean. Water was hot and water pressure was good. There was lots of grass (no burrs) for the dog to walk in. Every trailer had a grassy area. There were no picnic tables at each site, but several located in the park in an open common area. Several dumpsters were located throughout the park. We were pleased with the park except our cable TV did not work. The staff came out and tried to fix it. Said they had to hook it to a little TV they carried over. Their TV wouldn't turn on but said the cable must be fine - they had not gotten any other complaints. The site next to us was empty, so we strung our cable over to that connection and our TV worked fine. They got very defensive, even though we were nice the whole time. They never came and checked on us again and made no effort to try and get it fixed. We stayed in site #17. Avoid that one. I really liked the facilities, but the attitude of the staff that it had to be our fault left a bad taste. If it wasn't for the cable issue and lack of concern to fix it, I would have given the park a five star. We would stay here again, but request a different site. We camped at Mesa Verde RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
