There are beautiful ponds everywhere and the park is beautifully landscaped. It was easy to get in and out of. Within 20 min of Traverse City. We camped at Traverse Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent for big rigs or smaller rigs and campers. It is huge. The entrance is in front of the cemetery on Dean St or you can go through the fairground. You could get shaded or not shaded spots and they only have a few sections that are 50A. There were a few trees we had to avoid so it wouldn't scratch the coach but it was overall perfect. Lots of places to walk and also close to downtown Des Moines. Full hookups. Good cell service. We camped at Iowa State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you go into Des Moines, watch where you park. They didn't just ticket us, they towed an entire row of cars including ours and the tow company damaged our vehicle. Just make sure to read the sign well and when in doubt, park elsewhere.

Indiana State Fair Campground, Indianapolis, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

So this one is a little sticky. I found this fairground on rv park reviews and then went on the state fairground website that instructed that there was year round camping spots available and to just go to gate 6 and pick a spot. They further instructed that security would find you and check you in. Well, we arrived and we didn't find the campground on the fairground but security and the managers were soooooo nice and accommodated us by allowing us to stay in the park a few blocks away that they used for people working the fair. They didn't have many people there yet for the fair so it was okay for one night. It was plenty big enough for the 45' coach and had lots of spaces to choose from. They were very nice about the whole thing, from start to finish. I highly recommend you call first to ask about any camping and disregard the webpage. Call the security office or the fairground to find out about options. We camped at Indiana State Fair Campground in a Motorhome.
