Asheville West KOA, Candler, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in an RV site near the cabins and my son and family stayed in the cabins. The campground was large and had plenty of space between sites with a picnic table and fire pit. The lady checking us in was very nice and we had no problems at all while staying here. There was a bit of rain, so things were muddy and there was a lot of road noise from I-40 if you were near the side near the road, but that was not the fault of the campground and it didn't bother us. The lodge cabin that my son's family stayed in was also very nice and they have done a lot to update things and keep it looking good. We very much enjoyed this campground and will definitely stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Asheville West KOA in a Motorhome.

Mineola Civic Center, Mineola, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is not really a traditional campground, but located in a Civic Center near soccer fields and community activities. It was very spacious and clean and in a safe area. The sites all had pads, were drive ins, not drive through and were organized in a circle. We parked across from the Civic Center building (office) and WiFi was plentiful and fast. There was no cable, but we were able to pick up OTA channels. This was a one night stop, but we could have stayed longed if needed. We liked this CG very much . You choose your own site. There were only a few sites being used, but I image when there are evnts going on it could be booked totally. We camped at Mineola Civic Center in a Motorhome.

Go downtown. There are 2 places next down to each other that sell delicious fried pies. We purchased from the on on the corner. Lots of antique stores in this town also. We visited Stitch Heaven Quilt Shop which is 2 blocks away.

Sunset Travel Park, Cottondale, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The park is split into 2 sections. We were in the section the street from the office. The owner was very nice and pleasant. It looks more like a parking lot than a CG, but everything worked and it was OK for 1 night. During football season there is probably no space available. We camped at Sunset Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 1 night. The concrete slabs were pretty narrow and short so we had to unhook the car. We weren't able to level the MH, but it was a convenient stop on our way home. They have a shuttle to the casino, but since our car was already unhooked we drove over for a meal at the casino. The food was very good. The CG provided garbage cans, but the top didn't open,to get your garbage in, so some people had to leave the garbage next to the can We would stay here again if we needed to for 1 night. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

Texan RV Ranch, Mansfield, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This campground was very neat, clean and the WiFi was pretty good, although a bit slow. The laundry was very clean and it was $1.50 to wash and $1.00 to dry. The roadways around the CG were grave, MH was parked on a concrete slab and there was a picnic table and a nice grassy area between. It was not really near any restaurants or shopping,so we had to go the Ft. Worth or Arlington area for food and shopping. We would stay here again. We camped at Texan RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Fredericksburg RV Park, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean RV park with about 100 sites. All sites were plenty long for you MH and tow car. The owners raked the empty gravel sites each morning to keep it neat. The laundry was positioned in the middle of the park and was spacious and clean. It was $1.50 to wash and $1.00 to dry. The WiFi was pretty good, although a bit slow and there was a wide variety of cable channels. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Fredericksburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

San Antonio KOA, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This was a nice campground with pretty good internet, and cable. They had 200 or so sites, but they were very cramped. We had to pull in to our site so that our door and picnic table were on the same side as our neighbors like a buddy site. We could almost touch our neighbors on both sides when we had our slides out. If they didn't try to cram so many sites into one park it would have been a lot more enjoyable. We were fairy close to the Alamo and River Walk, so the location was good. We camped at San Antonio KOA in a Motorhome.

Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA , Montgomery, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is an extremely large KOA campground with over 200 sites. The entrance was easy in, easy out and easy to drive through. We has a concrete pad that was not quite level, but OK. There was grass in between sites and the cable and WiFi was pretty good. Nice, clean CG and a pleasant place to stay. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground recommended Rocky's Cajun Kitchen for dinner and it was the best Cajun meal we had including in NOLA. Rocky's was authentic Cajun and plentiful. Our only regret was we were not there on the weekend to enjoy the Cajun music.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

We had no trouble finding this park after driving thru an industrial area on horrible roads which seemed like forever. We checked in and the staff was very nice, we were escorted to our site. The whole CG was gravel except for the small vegetation between sites. Turns were tight in the CG and sites were not spacious, but some vegetation for privacy. It was a large CG with full hookups and cable, but not great WiFi. The shuttle service into the French Quarter was $6/pp and we took the one that left at 10am and returned at 4pm. A great value as parking/driving in NOLA is not good. There was a restaurant on site and the menu looked good and tasted OK. I ordered a cup of Jambalaya which had about 1 bite of chicken and a very small bit of sausage. It was almost all rice. I also ordered pulled pork nachos, but there was no pulled pork on it and my husband ordered red beans and rice which was OK. The major complaint was the horrible service. They were not busy and we waited about 45 minutes for our meal which should have been an easy/quick serve. Another waitress broke a glass at the next table and left a 3.5" piece of curved glass pointing up in one of the chairs for a customer to sit on. Had I not told her about it someone could have easily sat on it We never went back for a second meal there. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Foscue Creek COE, Demopolis, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this lovely campground for just one night due to traveling, but would have loved to stay much longer. It is a COE campground and due to our senior NPS pass we were able to get a 50% discount. We were in site #7 which was a pull through. It was near the lake and even though we had no cable or WiFi, we did have a concrete pad, picnic table, grill, and fire ring. The CG was spacious and quiet and as I said we would loved to have stayed longer. Excellent campground. Firewood was also available at the entrance. We camped at Foscue Creek COE in a Motorhome.

A nice overnight stop. No cable or WiFi, but good sewer, electric and water hookup. Long enough for our 38' MH and tow car. Wouls stay here again if needed. Nice, friendly check in. Pony Express RV Park & Campgrounds, Maysville, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here due to the close proximity to Hamilton. MO. When reviewing the park we knew it was in he middle of nowhere, but the description of the park and idea of petting zoo sounded appealing. It was not. The grass had not been mowed in quite some time. The petting zoo did not exist. There were a few alpacas in a fenced in area with very high grass and the cell phone and internet reception on our hot spot was poor. They did have FHUs which we needed. There was ample space for sitting outside, but because of the high grass, we didn't. The best part was the cost for the 2 washers and dyers. $1.00 to wash, .75 to dry. It was a very quiet area however. We camped at Pony Express RV Park & Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean & well maintained with nice grass and some trees. Plenty of room for a large motor home with tow car. The check in staff was extremely nice and accommodating. WiFi seems slow at first, but actually ended up being faster than our home WiFi. Very quiet except for train tracks nearby, but almost none at night and it was not a problem. Very close to Mammoth Cave and a couple of restaurants. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. Site was not perfectly level, but it's a campground.
