Sugar Hollow Campground, Bristol, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We really loved this park. We only stayed one night. I wish I could have stayed longer. Not all sites have water. There is not sewer, but they do have a dump. The camp sites are very woodsy. I felt like I was in an enchanted forest. The town is very clean. The campground is part of a larger park with lots of trails, ball fields and picnic grounds. We camped at Sugar Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Percy Quin State Park, Mccomb, Mississippi

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very beautiful park with lots of trees, rolling hills and a large lake. We rode our bikes which can be tough going up some of the hills, but so much fun coming down. We had site 54 which was a premium site. It had a view of the lake. It was 40 degrees when we camped and the wind coming off the lake made it feel like it was 30 degrees, brrrr. They do let you build a campfire. The spaces are not one on top of the other. Our site had full hook up and a blacktop site. It also had a picnic table. We did not get a chance to do any hiking due to the weather but they do have trails. We went into McComb, Ms and ate at the Dinner Bell restaurant. I highly recommend it. They seat you at a large round table and have a lazy susan in the middle of the table. All the food is set up on this rotating device and you choose form there. It is home cooked food, very good. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Motorhome.

Grand Ecore RV Park, Natchitoches, Louisiana

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is operated by the Red River Waterway Commission. It is very clean, actually spotless. The bathrooms are private; individual bathrooms with a toilet, shower and sink. They have a playground for the kids. The sites are easy to get into and level. I believe this park opened in the summer of 2017. They are off to an excellent start. We camped at Grand Ecore RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

While staying at this beautiful park with an abundance of pecan trees, we attended the Natchitoches Festival of Lights. It was awesome. They had a Christmas parade, crafts, lights and a fantastic fireworks show. We also went to Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site in Natchitoches and they had characters dressed in historical attire and demonstrations. This was very interesting. Natchitoches is a very quaint, historical, charming town and I would definitely return.

Tips for other Campers:

Visited the Tabasco factory on Avery Island, about 50 minutes away. It was a fun tour and I loved the Tabasco shop and restaurant. We also visited Abbeville. St Mary Magdalan Catholic Church was a beautiful church to visit and we even got a private tour from the friendly local priest.

Acadiana Park Campground, Lafayette, Louisiana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

What a lovely park, beautiful trees. We saw a raccoon being a little overly friendly. It was only $20.00 a night, which is a great bargain. The road getting to the park is fine, it goes through a nice neighborhood. We hiked some trails, they were beautiful, but bring a stick to break the spiderwebs. Our site was asphalt but all sites need to be redone. The park road is narrow. The sites to the right when you enter the park seem to be better than the ones to the left. We did not use the restrooms. The staff was friendly. There is a dump station but no sewer. We camped at Acadiana Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Davis Bayou Campground, Ocean Springs, Mississippi

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We camped at set#14. It was not perfectly level, but we were able to make it work with levelers. Watch out for raccoons at night, they will take anything resembling food. They stole my ice chest. It was a small soft sided kind. They have a fire pit and picnic table on each site. Our site was shady most of the time. The restroom were clean. We hiked some trails, they were very nice. We would definitely camp here again. No sewer. We camped at Davis Bayou Campground in a Motorhome.

If you get a chance go to Leo's in Ocean Springs. They have the best wood fired pizza.
