North Pole Resorts, Wilmington, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the hundred acre wood section. It has lovely large lots with trees between spaces that improve privacy and quiet. It is ten miles from Lake Placid which has every tourists wish provided. Good restaurants, stores, and Olympic attractions. We camped at North Pole Resorts in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Hungry Trout is a wonderful restaurant nearby. Worth the splurge. The Little Market in Wilmington has a pretty decent selection of items and we visited it several times. Lake Placid also has a Price Chopper for larger grocery lists. We bought the Olympic Pass and enjoyed the old Olympic sites. If possible, don't miss the ice show!

Swan Bay Resort, Alexandria Bay, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $115.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful, convenient park very near the border crossing. There is a grocery store right next door and gas station across the street. The park is located on the St. Lawrence River, but most of the sites have a rather narrow view. It was convenient to the city of Alexandria Bay and thus the tourist amenities offered. The pads are concrete with gravel roads nicely maintained in the newest part. It was expensive and the cost of 50 amp service ($10.00 a night) is added to the nightly rate. Has a nice boat ramp with nice rentals, a nice pool, and tiki bar. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Singer Castle Cruise was really worth doing. A delightful time on the water with a nice historical perspective presented. The castle was also interesting and a good representation of life for the more privileged set of yesteryear.

Dreany Haven Campground, North Bay, Ontario

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight campers are an afterthought in this park. No sewer, 30 amp, hookups in far rear of site, so not good for a tow vehicle. Must unhook. Really not big rig friendly. Internet marginal. Do not recommend. Pass it by. We camped at Dreany Haven Campground in a Motorhome.

Summer Haven Campground, Tenstrike, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We had an unfortunate experience here. This park is set up to sell lots. And the Lot owners seem to take pride in their property. However we made reservations for a 5 day stay in our 37 foot motor home. The lots available for reservations were not sufficiently level to safely set up our rig. For the price we expected to at least be able to get level. After several tries we went back to the office to let them know. Long story short we were charged $100 and left. An expensive mistake, but worth it to move to a park where we safely parked. We camped at Summer Haven Campground in a Motorhome.
