Happy Time RV Park, Dunnigan, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We had only a verbal reservation because this park does not provide confirmation numbers nor emailed receipts. As we neared the park, I called but the phone rang several times without anyone answering. When we arrived around 11:30, there was a sign on the door that the person would be back at 2 pm. Another sign said "Sorry, park is full". There was no note for us on the bulletin board and no envelopes in the box for self registration, as many other parks utilize. We were at a loss as to what to do. The only presence on the internet for this park is a Facebook page without any park information. Since we would have had to wait 2 1/2 hours for someone to show up and possibly find out that they could not accommodate us, we elected to continue in our journey to the next reservation (who could accommodate us a day early.) I called Happy Times again and waited through several rings until a recording advised that the park office opened at 2. I left a message explaining our plight and we continued on the road. The area is pretty limited and this park is pretty run down looking. The only sign is a very large one "RV Park" at the back of the park, so as to be visible from the expressway but there was no sign at the entrance. I doubt if we would try to stay at this park in the future. We camped at Happy Time RV Park in a Motorhome.

RiverPoint Landing Marina Resort, Stockton, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Locating the park was a little confusing. We suggest: After turning onto Buckley Cove, stay on it. At the toll booth, tell them you are going to Riverpoint and they will open the gate. Continue until you reach a "T" in the road. Go right and then you will see a sign for Riverpoint. It's in a marina and the office is in the blue steel building to your right when you turn in. When you register, you'll be given a gate code for after hours. Only sites 7, 8, 9, 15, 16, 25 & 26 are 50 amp. 32 sites total, most are on the river. Sites are short but tow parking is available on the site and next to the rig or across from it. Staff was nice. We camped at RiverPoint Landing Marina Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Based on reviews here, we tried Dave Wong's restaurant in Stockton. The food and service were great. Portions were large enough for two, so we have enough leftover for dinner a 2nd night. Note: the Deli is on one side, the restaurant is on the other. There are plenty of other fast food eateries in the area.

This is a sterling example of how good RV parks can be! Immaculate grounds, and friendly staff. We stayed here one night last year and made sure to book a longer stay this year. We camped at Ambassador RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visited Silver City ghost town, a great day trip if you have a Jeep or other high clearance vehicle. We had lunch at the Idaho Hotel, one of the few businesses still in operation. Lunch was pricey but surprisingly fresh and tasty and homemade pies cooling on the counter. A great place for lunch is "The Orchard House" in Sunnyslope, about 13 miles away in the farmland. On the way, don't miss the fruit and veggie stand with farm ripened tomatoes!

Heyburn Riverside RV Park, Heyburn, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Attracted by high scores, we reserved a site for 2 nights. We were greeted by the camp host who gave us clear instructions as to our site and how to pay with the envelope she handed us (complete form, insert money and drop into payment box). The park appears to be well maintained and very close to a lovely walking/biking path along the Snake River. The only negative, and tonight it's a strong one, was when the wind blows from the west, there is a very unpleasant sewer odor from the treatment plant. The sites are gravel with a concrete patio and picnic table. Sewer drains are 8 or 10" above the ground level so even with the normal props, the drain must function somewhat uphill. The drive is wide enough for the motorhome and a towed vehicle to park next to it without interferring with the slides. There are green grassy strips between sites and some trees, mostly small. There are many attractions within driving distance such as Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls. We camped at Heyburn Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We had lunch at the very big and busy El Caporal in Burley (1.6 miles away). Hubby had a combo plate and I had the Arroz Con Pollo and both thought they were excellent. Service was excellent too despite being a very busy place. Try the restaurants rated highly by Trip Advisor. The ones that we tried deserve the high scores.
