Chatfield State Park, Littleton, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Was able to get a site at the last minute for our 40' long rig, towing a Jeep. Full hookups and great TV stations (69 digital) just on an antenna. Loop A, site 19 was a nicely organized site with a clean fire ring, and perfectly level concrete pad. There was a big tree that we had to avoid, but not too much of a problem. Could not see the lake from this site and restrooms were a little walk. Nearby playground for kids. The sites are well-spaced apart, and lots of room to sit out. Nice picnic table. We spent time shopping in Littleton which is about a 20 minute drive away. Plan on coming back ASAP and try to get the spaces nearer to the lake. A little pricey for a State park. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Chatfield has "mini-parks" within the Park. There is a swimming beach, a dog off leash area, wildlife viewing, model airplane landing strip, and much more. It also has Group areas where several RVs and picnickers can congregation and stay together.

Cutty's Hayden Creek Resort, Coaldale, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Not impressed. We stayed 3 nights in a space that was surrounded closely by trees and bushes, really difficult for a 38' motorhome. But it was beside the creek, which was nice. Our kids camped in a tent right next to us. It was at the bottom of a hill, and the nearest restroom was quite a ways up hill from us. 20 amp service only, no sewage, water and electrical. No cable hookups. No wifi, even though they say there is some in front of the office... couldn't even get email. No cell signal at all.... you have to drive at least 5 miles out to the main road to get AT&T cell signal. Upon checking in, the office people were NOT friendly, and did not tell us much of anything that we needed to know. In fact, they were complaining about the other people who were coming in that day LOUDLY. The lady that checked us in kind of threw the paperwork at me, and went through it so fast that I couldn't read any of it. This is an OLD facility that has not been upgraded much. Swimming pool was clean, but shower facilities and restrooms inside the building were a little iffy. Putt putt was in pretty good shape, shuffleboard, other games were provided. There are very few supplies in the store/office. Don't count on buying much there. It was an OK experience, but we will go elsewhere next time. Not worth the hassle. We camped at Cutty's Hayden Creek Resort in a Motorhome.

Alpine Trails RV Park, South Fork, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

All gravel park, located next to town community center and 4 pickleball courts! Sites are divided up by metal poles in the ground, but very level, all gravel, and easy in and out. We backed in our 38' rig and parked the Jeep right in front. The office staff were super friendly and offered several really good suggestions for Jeep trails and more. The wifi SHOULD be good, but something is wrong. They have 100 MB fiber, but download speeds are horrendous at less than 1 MB at times. The lady in the office is not that computer savvy and my techie husband told her to call the provider and told her what to ask them to improve service. Not particularly scenic views from the park, but we weren't there except in the evenings when we would sit out and chill for a bit. Hookups were good, except no cable TV, and cell service in the area was not great for AT&T. No TV channels by air at all. We needed more movies to watch and ran out the 2nd night. Clean sites and I would stay there again if we just couldn't get in some place a little less crowded and more scenic. We camped at Alpine Trails RV Park in a Motorhome.

Feelin' Good Cafe was best place in town for hi-speed internet. Also had great service and food. We had breakfast there 2 mornings in a row.
