James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great park. Huge, with big water park, biking, fishing... And it has one of the very best dog parks ever. Huge with a big pond. Short, 15 minute drive to downtown Charleston. Only downside is that drainage is not great so when it rains, there are puddles everywhere. Sites are gravel back in. Lots of shade trees. Good for shade, bad for satellite reception. Wifi very slow. We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Dakota Ridge RV Park, Golden, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

As a last resort, as all the preferred area sites were booked, we got the last site (K3) at Dakota Ridge. Sites are very close together and open. No privacy at all. But worst, the sites are not level. K3 was pitched about 10º side to side. I tried about 10 times at different locations on the site to level but my computerized leveling system kept failing with excess slope, even with the rear wheel about 5" off the ground. I asked the owners for help and they sent 2 broken pieces of 2x4, which still did not help. When I told them about the slope, they said nothing in Golden is level. Hmmm. Had to leave. We camped at Dakota Ridge RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop, Rifle, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Its a 6 mile drive up the mountain from Rifle, and absolutely worth it. Our site (114) was an easy in and out pull through and pretty private. The site is gorgeous. Everything worked well and was well maintained, but no WiFi. Highly recommended. We should have stayed longer. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go up the hill from Rifle. My GPS indicated that there was no RV access but this is not correct. I went up from New Castle, which is well out of the way and 12 twisting miles up rather than the 6 from Rifle. (New Castle is a cool little town, but take the RV up from Rifle.) Going down through Rifle was much easier and a lot shorter.

Battlement Mesa RV Park, Battlement Mesa, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Called to make reservation and they said just show up and pick a site. Make sure everything is working then come to the office. So I pulled in and started looking at the gravel sites. Didn't see 50 amps and when I opened an electric panel to see, there was a wasp nest inside. Went to office and they couldn't tell me which open sites have 50 amp service. She said to check any open sites, but watch out for wasps. Thanks. Went to another site, opened the panel and, again, wasps in residence. We left. Horribly maintained. Everything seemed broken. Total lack of service. Only happy campers were the wasps. We camped at Battlement Mesa RV Park in a Motorhome.

Beverly Beach RV Camptown RV Resort, Flagler Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $133.00
Overall Rating:

Paid the rate for a beach front location, which was really nice. Long walks on the beach with the dog were great. Spaces are close together but had no issues with water pressure or WiFi. People working there were very nice and the location is close to a lot of good restaurants. We camped at Beverly Beach RV Camptown RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It's worth the extra cost for beach front if you are going to stay here. Sunrise through the windshield was nice.
