Abert Rim Oasis RV Park, Lakeview, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A bare bones place to stay while exploring southeast Oregon. About 12 miles north of Lakeview, across from the imposing cliffs of the Abert Rim. Grass and gravel pull-through, no sewers , no dump station, no wifi. They only take cash. The owner and his assistant, were friendly and helpful. Lots of room for our dogs to run. Lots of junk on the site, apparently due to some issues while the owner was away. We would stay there again when in the area. N. We camped at Abert Rim Oasis RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Great drive to Aden, East of Lakeview, where we had a delicious lunch at the bar, cafe and Store. Great old cowboy bar. Then up to Plush and down the Plush cutoff past a large herd of pronghorns. The park is about 12miles from Lakeview. South of Lakeview we visited Goose Lake and on the way back shopped at the little antique store on State line Road. Amazing stuff and a sweet proprietor.

Intermountain Motor Homes and RV Camp, Wendell, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Probably should have given them a 10, since I can't think of any complaints. Then again, I'm probably overly influenced by our interaction with the owners. We had a minor problem with our Trailer, which would have made further travel difficult . Also, we arrived on a Saturday night. The owner came out at 8AM Sunday, fixed our problem in an hour, and we were on our way. Minimal labor charge, and friendly throughout. I should also mention that we had good wifi - a rare and wonderful thing in our travel experience. We would definitely stay there again. They also sell and service RVs. We camped at Intermountain Motor Homes and RV Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Teton Valley RV Park, Victor, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Good wifi. Site very narrow with small trees, no picnic table, no fire ring, other sites were better. Large field adjacent where dogs could run free. Lots of construction debris about. We would stay there again on our way through just as an overnight stay. We camped at Teton Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Azalea Glen RV Park & Campgrounds, Trinidad, California

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

A lovely little park. Some back-in sites have little decks overlooking a pond full of lily pads. We had site one, just big enough for our 25 foot trailer and tow vehicle, more private than others. Many flowers in the park-obviously it was well cared for. We would stay there again. We camped at Azalea Glen RV Park & Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It is just down the road maybe a quarter mile at most from Patrick's Point State Park. It's inland enough that the wind wasn't noticeable, but close enough to enjoy the beaches and trails of the park. We found dog-friendly beaches to the north at Dry Lagoon and also further south near Eureka.

Moore's RV Park (formerly Desert Rose Resort), Bloomfield, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

A real gem for our needs. We were looking for a central location from which to visit Mesa Verde, Chaco canyon, and Canyon de Chelly. Found a space on Memorial Day Weekend . Some sites had good shade , but ours only was partial. Hosts were great, laundry prices reasonable. Our site was gravel, pull-through, and level. Will definitely stay there again. Only negatives: no grass, little shade at our site. I can't recall if there was a picnic table. We camped at Moore's RV Park (formerly Desert Rose Resort) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Next time we might explore nearby attractions.-and reserve a space sooner than the day before to get more shade. It was a 90-minute drive to the ones we chose--but having a central location and not having to move every day made up for the drive length.

Fireside Resort - Jackson Hole Campground, Wilson, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $125.00
Overall Rating:

Yes,that's how much we paid for a pull-through 30amp site with poorly situated utilities. The fire pit was just outside our door, but to avoid it I had to pull out beyond the reach of my electrical shore line. We solved that problem by pulling the picnic table over the fire pit to keep from accidentally falling in at night. When I complained about poor signage I was told "I can refund your money and you can go on down the road." (I regret I did not take him up on the offer, but I was very tired after a 400 mile drive that day, and the thought of trying to find an alternative in August late in the day led me to stay.) Turns out, there were full hookups INSIDE THE NATIONAL PARK for less than half what I paid here!. One positive: great wifi even though we were far from the office. No dog park, but a great place for dog play nearby. (See below) , We camped at Fireside Resort - Jackson Hole Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a park on the river just north of the intersection of Wyoming 22 and 390 that is a great place for dogs to play off leash in the river. I got the phone number from looking up "Jackson Campground". Turns out there is no signage with that name, but one sign says "Fireside Resort". There were many small driveways adjacent to the entrance driveway which was very confusing, and the traffic on the road makes slowing down to look difficult.

River's Edge RV & Cabins Resort, Evansville, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Trees are now up to 12 feet, grassy walk along the river is very nice place for dogs to romp and has several shady spots to sit. The park area itself is pretty bleak but convenient. My only irritation is the giant "scare lights" on one of the buildings. Forget looking at the stars. We camped at River's Edge RV & Cabins Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Holiday RV Park, North Platte, Nebraska

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The web site shows a beautiful, grassy place with lots of shade. And that's true. We just stayed one night. We had 2 dogs and rain was forecast and we wanted a grassy site to keep the dogs from getting muddy. We were assigned to the least grassy site. We then asked to be given one of the many free sites that have grass. We were told that could not be done. We assumed it was because they were reserved. But no one arrived to fill those sites. I don't know why the lady at the desk felt the need to lie, but we will " boondock" On the side of the road before staying here again. We camped at Holiday RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

AOK Campground and RV Park, Saint Joseph, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of grass, 2 lakes ( with fish, I'm told), level graded sites. Beautiful grounds. There is a large area for my dogs to run off-leash, mostly grass and wooded trails. We camped at AOK Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Twin Rivers Landing, Lesterville, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Huge place, lots of space. An amazing adventure for our dogs, as there is plenty of opportunity for off-leash play. There is a beach and two other water access points for the dogs. Staff very helpful--they spent an afternoon troubleshooting my sister and brother-in-laws rig that had broken down. They also sponsor float trips, but we did not do any, so I can't comment on them. Only downside was the ticks. That's probably true any grassy place in Missouri. Be sure to use DEET on your skin and Permethrin on your clothes and also protect your dogs. Bring a swimsuit to the shut-ins and hike to the lower pool--magical. We'll stay there again if we're ever in SE Missouri. We camped at Twin Rivers Landing in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Johnson's Shut-Ins and the PILOT KNOB battlefield. (a few miles' drive) Also Elephant Rocks, especially if you like geology. Next to the day of the eclipse, the best day of our stay was our visit there. If it's hot, take your lawn chair to the beach and sit in the water. And bring your dog's frisbee and "chuck-it".
