Adirondack Gateway RV Resort, Gansevoort, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

The park is not like any other Sun RV campground we have stayed at. They are not set up for non-seasonals. Lots of the seasonals don't even have septic, so a "honey wagon" is cruising past twice a day. Sites were REALLY tight, roads were very close to impossible with a 32ft travel trailer. The site was muddy (our leveling blocks sunk into the ground) very un-level and so small that our awning came almost to the next site utilities. It took a lot of maneuvering even to park our truck on the site. And other than the race track, there is little to do or see in the area. The wifi was better than average though. Don't expect to get anything from the camp store/snack bar. Their hours are limited and selection worse. We camped at Adirondack Gateway RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Placid / Whiteface Mtn. KOA, Wilmington, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

We LOVED this campground. We've stayed in many KOAs, and most are clean and "OK", but close to highways. This is in the beautiful Adirondack mountains, no street noise, lovely wooded campsites with plenty of space. The campground is big enough for nice walks, and there is also a lovely "dog walk" through the woods and a nice quiet dog park. It backs on the Ausable River, just below the flume, so you can also hike all along the river. A very nice "perk" for me (as the family cook) was that they serve breakfast in the lodge every morning from 8-10! We will definitely be back! We camped at Lake Placid / Whiteface Mtn. KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

LOTS of hiking and fishing, shopping in Lake Placid, nearby historical sites and museums, a spectacular view from the top of Whiteface. You can drive (completely handicapped accessible) hike or ride a gondola to the top.
