West Thompson Lake COE, North Grosvenordale, Connecticut

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Everything others have said about this clean, wooded park is spot on. Sites are very large. Pinic table is huge with room at one end for handicap access. Two nice lean-to areas for overnight tenters. Only negative is pump out is horizontal instead of verticle and allows for some escape of sewage. I would definitely come back to this gem again. We camped at West Thompson Lake COE in a Travel Trailer.

Mt. Greylock Campsite Park (formerly Hidden Valley Campground), Lanesborough, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said, new owner is working hard to improve this campground. He was very helpful backing us into our spot with large logs on one side which he will remove soon. Our site was large and quiet but we did have to level up 5 inches. Site was lumpy. No gravel or grass, but heavily wooded with lots of shade for hot days. Owner is improving sites everyday. Showers are being improved with new toilets just and plywood walls between two very large (free) showers and, old coin machine is still visible. Cleanliness problem is due to youth groups staying in this park. Pool is a gem and very clean. Did not check out laundry. Many seasonals, obvious by lots of decorations around sites but not obnoxious. Park is overall very quiet and beautiful. I will stay here again and look forward to up grading my rating in the future as I am sure this park will continue to improve. We camped at Mt. Greylock Campsite Park (formerly Hidden Valley Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Arrowhead Marina & RV Park, Schenectady, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here one night last year and I felt I did not have sufficient information to do a full review. This time we stayed two nights and enjoyed the camp very much. Like others have said this park has many well manicured grassy sites with mature shade trees through out the park. It is very quiet and I love the fact that there are no golf carts driving around all day. Showers and laundry are in a "trailer" building. Although they are a bit old, the showers have everything you want, towel bar, seat, dressing area with drainage mat, and plenty of hot water. Staff is very courteous and eager to please. We were to have a FHU site but when we arrived we found out that the person on the site we were to have had technical difficulties and was waiting for a part so we were offered a water/electric 30 amps and one night free. With a clean and easy to reach pump out area, I thought it was a great bargain. They even have a fenced dog area large enough to throw a toy. No special amenities for children but great views of the scenic Mohawk river. We camped at Arrowhead Marina & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Hagerstown, Williamsport, Maryland

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said this is "the" park if you have young children, pool, water park, plus so many other activities. Check in was easy and friendly and we were escorted to our site. It was so level we did not have to do anything. I do believe our site is in the original part of the park. We had mature trees and wonderful shade and nicely spaced for privacy. We were also further away from the pool and play areas so it was quieter here than it would have been in other areas of the park. You are paying for all these amenities, trash pick up, etc. The shower house was pretty new near us but the showers were not well laid out with no curtain between you and the dressing area. Push button type shower was ok but no place for soap and shampoo. Very clean. Given all the choices of other campgrounds in this area, this was a good choice but I would not want to be here in the busy part of summer. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Hagerstown in a Travel Trailer.

Pegasus Farm Campground, Elkins, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Everything others have said about this campground being quiet and clean have been spot on. The bath house is made of concrete block and the showers are extremely large and well thought out. Three shower stalls in both men's and women's. Very clean. Wifi is spotty. Camp has several FHU and a few that are just water and electric. Our site was level and all sites are spacious. Now here comes the bad part. It rained and rained during our stay and our site and the one pull through site flooded very badly. Our camp host has stayed here for many years and has never seen anything like it. As a final insult two ducks came tonight and landed in the "puddle" and swam around in front of us. Still we were able to get in and out of our rv and walk behind and also park our tow vehicle in another site that was drier. Of course weather is not the fault of the campground and most years this will not be a problem. I still rate this very highly for the peace and quite. We camped at Pegasus Farm Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cool Breeze Campground , Galax, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I agree with what others have said about this wonderful, out in the country campground. We woke up to gently mooing cows. Sites are large and level. Laundry and restrooms are clean polished hardwood floors are a welcome treat. Only one shower in women's room and probably same in men's but it was large and nicely tiled. Hosts are friendly and helpful. they have a few permanent "tiny" homes on some of the sites which are attractive. I would have given it a 10 but sites lacked picnic tables and all sites are open with no trees at all in the campground. I would come back here any day. We camped at Cool Breeze Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very unique. It was carved out of a mountainside. The lower sites are tiered and very level. As you get higher there are sites for larger rigs and the top of the park have the beautiful views. Showers are private with doors and seats. Impeccably clean. Mature growths of trees and shrubs give the park the look of a cool quiet woods. Some sites are very shady and some in the sun. Laundry is also very clean and they have a coin machine as well. Staff could not be friendlier and you are lead to your site. Although very steep, it is possible to do with all size rigs. Cabins looked very nice in wooded section as well as quiet tent sites. Very well done campground. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Junaluska Campground, Waynesville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this campground because of a model railroad convention at the conference center across the street. When we drove in we were greeted by very friendly camp hosts who were eager to help us. We had no prearranged camp site so they offered us three sites. One would have backed up to the busy road and no shade, another would have been up on the hillsides but no cable. All sites here, even on the hillsides are FHU. We finally chose a pull through site on the area near the road. One small tree did help break up the sun and will grow soon to be a proper shade tree. Road noise during the day is significant, but does quiet down at night. Wifi is very strong. Showers are older style but on further inspection have some excellent ammenties, for one, well placed towel hooks, curtains that actually provide privacy, and very nice holders for soap and shampoo. Although the showers were very well done and very clean, what we did not know when we reserved is that the campground shares the road in with a school next door. Twice a day, morning and around 3:00 you had to put up with cars lining up to pick up children from the school. It was awkward and if you were sitting in the campground during the day it was noisy as well. If I were to stay here again I would choose a site up on the hillsides which were daunting to get to but very shady and much quieter. We camped at Lake Junaluska Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Riverside Campground & Resort, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice site along the Little Pigeon creek. Check was easy and very friendly. Our site was a back in with a view of the creek. Stairs led down to a fire pit with lots of room to sit right at the creek. We had cable and free wifi which was off and on useful. Site was level with room for our slide on one side and awning over the picnic table which was on a concrete slab. Site was level with minor adjustments. They have a very nice pool and clean playground. Our site was nice and shady. Restrooms and showers were very clean and we watched workers level and add pea gravel and level other sites. We camped at Riverside Campground & Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Levi Jackson State Park, London, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Ditto everything the last reviewer added. We were in the FHU loop which was crowded. Our only complaint was that the hot wire and power return were reversed so we could not use our surge protector. When we informed the them about it they did offer to put us on another site which we decided not to do and instead stayed "unprotected" for two nights. Sites were clean and our sites had a "living area" large enough for an extra tent or cover for your barbeque or picnic table. Sites are nicely wide and have lots of room for slide outs and awning. Some sites had a a bit more shade than others, many are sunny. Park is nicely done as are many Kentucky state parks with laundry facilities and this year, Wifi is free at this park, but inconsistent in power. Over all a very nice park. Fort Boonesborough State Park, Richmond, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice state park. There are a few FHU which we had. Others are electric and water. Please be sure to bring a very long hose or serveral hoses as the water is very far from each site. As others have commented on the size of pads which differs and parking a large rig which can be difficult in some sites on a crowded weekend I would like to comment on the showers. The showers near the front part of the park must me brand new. There are six shower stalls plus one more for handicap campers. These are heated and air conditioned with a nice "curb" preventing water from flowing into the dressing area. Many sinks and flush toilets which are cleaned every day. As the park filled on a Friday night, smoke did become thicker but rain put an end to that. This park has a beautiful "primative" tenting area which is very shaded and quiet. Beyond that are signs indicating where the first Fort Boonesborough was really built. We camped at Fort Boonesborough State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Charlestown State Park, Charlestown, Indiana

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicest and well thought out state parks I have ever stayed in. Roads are wide and easy to traverse. Sites are mostly just electric but we had a FHU site of which there are about 60. Our site was large enough for our trailer and truck but some sites are quite a bit longer and this park can easily handle big rigs. Some sites are shaded, some not but all sites have handy access to large, clean showers and flush toilets. For those sites without water, entrance to the campground provides two water sites to fill tanks and two sites opposite provide dump stations. It was pretty quiet here during the week but I'll bet this is a pretty crowded park in the summer. We camped at Charlestown State Park in a Travel Trailer.

East Fork State Park, Bethel, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very busy campground on the weekend. There are 416 sites and of that 23 are full hookup. Site was clean and level. All sites are back in. Shower/restrooms are clean however very old with peeling paint. Being a very nice sunny warm weekend the campground was full of families with happy children all out and having a great time. Our loop C was quiet. No wifi but good cell service. We did not get any OTA TV but only have a small antenna. Our site was shady and sites in our loop were a nice distance apart. We believe the sites are only about 35 feet long so many had to park their tow vehicle on the grass beside their site. We camped at East Fork State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Huntington / Fox Fire KOA, Milton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said this is a very nice campground for several reasons. Very friendly staff, escort to your site. Sites are clean and well cared for. Security is great. Showers are nothing like I have ever seen in a campground before. There are four for the whole campground. Each shower comes with sink and toilet all to yourself. Very clean and the size of my bedroom at home! I never had trouble using them, no line even though the campground was full by the end of the day. Laundry was clean as well. Park has a small dog off leash area. No pool but has a pond. It was a bit muddy and I am not at all sure I would allow my children to swim in it without checking on water quality. Park rules are adhered to by seasonals which are many, as well as those of us just here for a few days. We chose a grass and gravel site with no cable which was shaded and a nice distance between the next rig. Site was just long enough for our trailer and had to park the truck sideways behind it. The one thing that makes it attractive ( just off I- 64) also makes it unattractive for the constant road noise. All in all, a nice, well run campground. Overall Rating:

Our site was very nice, however like most have said, only pit toilets and hook up is only electric. Our site had water nearby. Good news is that the park is putting in 15 full hook up sites. It was a bit noisy but talking to staff, they said if all goes well, more will be added. We stayed in loop A which is nicely shaded, but would be tight for any rig larger than ours at 27 feet plus truck. Loops B and C are more easily for larger rigs.
