Salina KOA, Salina, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

When I read KOA, I tend to think "cute," and this one certainly hit that note. The grounds were immaculate, with autumn decorations out and a bit of Halloween fun. Very neat, very clean and had the to-the-site escort that KOA often offers.. Our site was level and a good fit for our rig. The park was well-lit, which cuts both ways as I like it dark when I sleep. There was some highway noise, but again, that noise meant an easy on-and-0ff for travelers like us who were just passing through. I would definitely stay here again. Loved the emphasis on picking up after pets. We have a dog and believe reminders are always good. We camped at Salina KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Kansas towns are full of slightly oddball museums and there's on right across the road. We didn't tour it, but if you like old time farm equipment, it's worth a look. And check out the museum in Hayes to the west.

Cool Pines RV Park and Cabins, Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived about 4:30 and owner said pick a site and we would settle in the morning. Dumb move on our part as we didn't get password to Internet. The sites were cramped and mostly on dirt. It rained a lot so,woke up to mud puddles. I probably won't stay here again. We camped at Cool Pines RV Park and Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort, Mancos, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Location. Location. Location. Ancient Cedars is directly across from the Mesa Verde NP Visitors Center, and the NP is one where you may have to drive an hour further than the entrance to get to where you want to go. Ancient Cedars was quiet, with the amenities placed toward the front to keep down road noise. It has a turn off lights policy that improves viewing the stars and everything is clean. Some sites are close and some don't have much tree cover. But other sites have more breathing room. We had trees and we had to back in carefully to open our slide. The owner does a good job of quizzing about RV length and number of slides to be sure you will fit your site. He was also helpful in confirming that our water pump was indeed dead. The sewer connection was positioned toward the front of the site, which was not useful for our unit. There is a horse pasture adjacent and a faint whiff of horse, but nothing overwhelming and the horses are fun to watch. Our site was near the back of the park, but we didn't mind the walk to the front to use showers--and did I mention they were clean? Two playgrounds with picnic tables. Those with kidsters will enjoy chilling out while the little ones wear themselves out. As an RVer, we love the comfort of sleeping in our own bed each night. Equally comforting is discovering Ancient Cedars, a park we will come back to next time we are in the area. We camped at Ancient Cedars at Mesa Verde RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Riverside RV Park, Bellevue, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Campground host was very nice and the restroom/shower/laundry area incredibly clean and warm. The pebble-lot is not much to look at, but it is serviceable. It is very quiet and orderly. Some long term residents, but not junky. Would stay here again. We camped at Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

For driving through, and a short stay, this park is fine. Nothing fancy.
