Gunter Hill COE, Montgomery, Alabama

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first time to stay at Gunter Hill. The sites were easy to back in to, level and wide. The park has a very nice playground for the kids. You do need to know that there are 2 playgrounds one is new and very nice the other is older and does not have as much to do. We were also able to catch a few fish from the nearby Catoma Creek. If you go to this park you will need to have a lot of outside lighting, as well as lights on any bike that you take, because there are no street lights. This campground is very dark at night, it is also very quiet. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Gunter Hill and plan to return. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Travel Trailer.

DeSoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our stay at Desoto State Park immensely. The sites were wide, level and made of concrete. The wifi in the park was outstanding, I was able to stream college football with absolutely no problems. The hiking trails are very nice and my sons really enjoyed the rock formation and the waterfalls. Checking into the park was a breeze with a very helpful staff. We will definitely return to Desoto State Park as it has become my 7 year olds favorite place to camp. We camped at DeSoto State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring food to cook or plan to drive about 30 minutes into the nearby town of Fort Payne. If you have never been you should consider the 1 hour drive to unclaimed baggage store.

Chewacla State Park, Auburn, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

My family really enjoyed our stay at the park. There are plenty of hiking trials and I highly recommend the trail that goes to the waterfall. My son also enjoyed the many bike trails that they have. This is a very wooded park and it is very peaceful while near the town of Auburn. The only reason that I did not give the park a 10 star rating is that they have gravel campsites instead of concrete. We camped at Chewacla State Park in a Travel Trailer.
