Rio Costilla Park & Campground, Costilla, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The park is 10,000 acres in the middle of 80,000 acres of cow country at 8000' MSL. Beautiful mountains and streams. Fished the Rio Costilla and visited the lakes (4wd recommended). No hooks ups, closest other camper was 1/2 mile away. This is where you go for fresh air and to avoid the crowds, not the cows. Cleanest porta potties I have ever been in! The park is not open year round. We camped at Rio Costilla Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Navajo Lake State Park, Pine Main Campground, Navajo Dam, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Nicest RV park close to the San Juan River and fly fishing. Full service marine with boat rentals and a swimming beach when the water is up. Very limited number of full hook up sites (6). Used all my blocks to level the trailer and I have a bunch. We camped at Navajo Lake State Park, Pine Main Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The grocery store in Dulce is well stocked and reasonably priced. Also, try the Chinese restaurant in Dulce.

St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park, Saint Peters, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Called ahead for a midweek pull thru space. Quick and easy check in. Located just off 370 on the NW side of St. Louis. Wide level spaces. Dog park, canoe & kayak rental, and marina! The Rv park is a destination. We will be back and spend several days. Only negative was the trees were fairly small for this part of the country. We camped at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park in a Travel Trailer.

Isla Blanca Park, South Padre Island, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is the Southern most in the Texas. Borders the bay and the Gulf of Mexico. PRO: It's beachy, warm, and windy. Lots of winter Texans. Had a mobile wash crew clean and wax our 29' for $100. Mobile RV service and propane available too. Walk to the beach, bay, or town. Free bus service just outside the gate. CON: County maintenance is behind on upkeep for the sites. In Feb. 2018, it was about 95% full. The registration closes at 6:00pm and is located 300 yards North of the park entrance by the KOA. Prior reviews cautioned about grass burrs or stickers. We did not find that to be accurate and should have brought the bikes anyway. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Travel Trailer.

Holiday COE, Benbrook, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Spent 3 nights during the week at this park in October. Our site was fairly level and had an extra width (up front) for an additional car or toad. We were 200 yards from the lake among the cottonwood trees. Just enough room to extend the slide and awning. Nice place to walk or just stay in the Fall. Suspect you need reservations well in advance in Spring and Summer. We camped at Holiday COE in a Travel Trailer.
