Parnell Creek RV Park, Woodville, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Positives: Grounds very well groomed. Clean. Gravel roads smooth, wide enough. Dog run large enough, fenced shaded. Staff friendly. Pool clean, small but large enough to cool off. Negatives: Spaces, gravel just wide enough for RV. You will have to walk in grass. They had just cut grass after being long. Grass clippings on everything. Space was a little off level but not terrible. One sheet half inch plywood under tires did job. Space between RV pads very tight. If your neighbor has slides, there will be almost no space between RV's. Only 4 public bathrooms/shower stalls. Map shows two bathhouses but the friendly maintenance man chuckled and said they "been working on it since April but ain't done yet." Of the four bathroom/showers, three were locked at 1100am on Friday for some unknown reason. Asked maintenance who said sometimes they get locked accidentally and sometimes owner locks when need cleaning. Owner will probably check them later when she gets off her other job. He does not have a key. When I asked him to please check with owner since I am staying with four persons, and two are girls, he was more concerned my tire was one foot in the grass and told me owner was going to "get on to me about that." The owner, however, was very nice, and I never saw her checking my area for tire tracks. Bathhouse has no A/C, no vent fans, a four inch screened roof level opening where flat tin roof meets block wall for ventilation. The screens kept out the bugs. However, In July, very hot and steamy in the shower/bathroom. You get sweaty before done drying off from a shower. All the 50-amp slots are very close to main Hwy 72, like 75-ft away. The hwy connects Huntsville to Chattanooga. Very busy. Highway noise. Lots of loud, fast trucks. Overall - I would stay here again since it is very close to Cathedral Caverns. It is clean, manicured, good l would stay here again since it is very close to Cathedral Caverns. We camped at Parnell Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Reunion Lake RV Resort, Ponchatoula, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for one weekend in a pull through site with a 30-ft travel trailer. CG is clean, modern with newer, wide concrete roads. Sites are huge with plenty of space between. Pools, hot tub, and lake with inflatables was open, clean, and working. Hot tub is adult only - great rule. Staff was great. Very close to I-12 but no road noise. Very quiet at night. You pay additional for lake and mini-golf. The CG is a little expensive but well worth it for an occasional family get away. We camped at Reunion Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Natalbany Creek Campground & RV Park, Amite, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The park is very spacious with plenty of room between campsites. The staff was wonderful - very friendly. We stayed for the Halloween activities which were fun and well organized. The only negative comment is the electrical supply. When I plugged my surge protector into the 50-amp service, the indicator lights showed a problem with "L2 and Nuetral Reversed." I called the office and informed the staff. The desk staffer was very unconcerned and said that problem is like that all the time. He assured me the power company, LP&L, had already checked the power and said that is just how they wired the campground. He laughed and said "everyone who camps here for the first time calls in and tells us about this problem." Before plugging in, I walked around and saw several other 50-amp RVs plugged in with no issues. Against my better judgment, I plugged in. I can't claim the power caused me a problem, but I did have an electrical circuit board fry on one of my appliances that night. The problem was repaired under warranty with no cost to me, so I am letting the matter drop. For this reason only, the electrical supply, I will never stay at the campground again, and I am assigning a 6. I believe the owners should refuse to accept LP&L's lack of concern for something they acknowledged is not technically correct, but won't cause a problem. I am not sure I got the full story on this issue. I have too many important people in my RV to take any chances. Great staff, nice place, bad power. We camped at Natalbany Creek Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a truck stop/casino at the road and campers drive through the parking lot to access the campground. We had no problems with noise or access from this. It was certainly convenient to refuel.

Little River RV Park & Campground, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We selected this park due to the proximity to Little River Canyon. If you are wanting to see the Canyon, this is a great park. There are no family activities, no pool, not much to do but see the Canyon. Park is a little difficult to locate at first. Could use some improved directional signs. The park itself is beautiful and quiet. Our spot was slightly off-level but not bad considering being in the mountains. Bring leveling equipment. I never met the staff, only phone. Used the honor system for check in/out and payment. I like that. I will certainly be back. We camped at Little River RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Alabama Fan Club in Ft. Payne is cool to visit. Go eat at Vintage 1889 Restaurant nearby. Great food. Interesting flea market style shop in the same building.

Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed during peak season with two adults and two kids. We really enjoyed the stay. The staff was excellent. There were lots of organized activities for the kids. Park was well managed. Only downside was space. We had less than foot between our slideout and neighbors TT. Good thing our neighbors were very friendly. It ended up enhancing our stay because we ended up making more friends. We will be back to stay here next year. We camped at Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA in a Travel Trailer.
