Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground, Buellton, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice resort style park. Our first site pull through site (373) had extremely sloped ramps, and would not work for our camper. In trying to pull through, I scraped and bent one of our stabilizers on the sloped ramp. A very helpful park employee helped us back out of the site and access the damage. He then took me around to show us alternative sites, and we selected site #16, and end row site with a nice grass area, a barbecue grill, and a portable fire pit. Most importantly, it was flat. This same employee helped us straighten the stabilizer. Fortunately it was not severely damaged. Park employees called me by name during our three day stay. We didn't go to the café and barbecue restaurant, as the are open only on weekends, but they looked like fun. if you are assigned to any of the sites in the area near #73, take a very close look at the slopes before you pull in. This is a really beautiful park. We camped at Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Albertsons grocery store nearby. The Danish town of Solvang is fun, but a bit "touristy." The BitO'Denmark restaurant has very nice decor, and good food. The Farmers, Market had fresh fruit and vegatables. The town of Morro Bay (1+ hr. north) Is a beautifull coastal town. Reccommend The Harbor Hut restaurant and the kite shop.

Half Moon Bay State Beach, Half Moon Bay, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful coastal campground with a great view of the ocean. Our back in electric campsite was large, with a nice shady area, a nice view, and a short walk through the ice plant to the beach. Minor leveling required. The day use area is nearby, but not a problem. The restrooms are older, and while cleaned daily, get a lot of use. The gentlemen who cleans the restrooms is very friendly, and knows a lot about the area. The restrooms are much cleaner than many California State Park locations (the restrooms at Pigeon Point Light house are filthy.) The beach here has enough room to sit and watch the ocean, but the drop off is too steep for wading and swimming, with dangerous currents. The next beach north is much gentler. Reserve early! We camped at Half Moon Bay State Beach in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It is about a 45 minute drive to San Francisco. The Monterey Bay aquarium is about a 2hr drive down the coast. Pigeon Pont Lighthouse has great views of the surf, with a chance to see a whale. Fitzgerald Marine Preserve (15 minutes north.) has tide pools with anemonies, hermit crabs, etc. Several really good restaurants in the area: The Himalayan restaurant in Half Moon Bay and Barbara's Fish Trap in Pillar Point Harbor are standouts!

Chula Vista RV Resort, Chula Vista, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

This is the most beautiful RV Park we have ever visited . The grounds are landscaped with trees, hedges and flowers; and the staff works constantly to keep the flowerbeds pretty. We stayed in a bay-view site, with a view of the bay and access through a private gate to the bay-side park. Easy access to I-5, and about a five minute drive to the San Diego Trolley station. The tall hedges between the sites provide nice privacy. The interior roads are a bit tight, but once backed in the sights are spacious. We would definitely stay here again! We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Desert Shadows RV Resort, Phoenix, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this campground because it was close to our friends' home. Easy access to I-17. Very nicely landscaped. The park is mostly park models with good overnight sites. There is no cable TV, but good over the air channel selection with our antenna. We camped at Desert Shadows RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Flagstaff KOA, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We paid extra to get an end site with a patio. This was a good decision as the other sites looked to be very narrow. Leveling was a bit difficult. This is an older campground under new ownership. Their brochure says that they will be upgrading, etc. We might stay here again, but would also check out other campgrounds in the area. We camped at Flagstaff KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent campground. Easy on and off to I-25. Friendly staff. We were guided to our campsite and assisted in parking. We only stayed one night, but this campground would be a good multi-day place to stay when visiting the area. We camped at Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Collins / Lakeside KOA , Fort Collins, Colorado

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at this park several times over the past two years. In season amenities are great, with paddle boats, bumper boats, pool, splash zone, bounce pad, pizza, etc. These amenities are not available off season, but our grandson loved the large playground and the trail around the lake. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were guided to our site, and helped to back in. Propane is reasonably priced. Wi fi is good. This is really a very nice campground- a little more expensive than some, but worth it! We camped at Fort Collins / Lakeside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Des Moines West KOA, Adel, Iowa

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very modern campground with wide gravel interior roads and wide level pull thru sites. Our site (near the restrooms and office) had a nice shade tree, but some of the sites further away are more open. The restrooms are like those in a nice hotel, with tile walls and granite countertops. The staff was friendly and helpful, escorting us to the site. Hand dipped ice cream and pizza delivered to our site was a bonus! We camped at Des Moines West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very nice campground. The owner is friendly and helpful, escorted us to our pull thru site, and gave us information on things to do in the area. The river that runs along the campground is very pretty Neat playground and patio area near the office. A bit of road noise, but not really a problem compared to the other nice things the campground offers. We camped at Littleton / Franconia Notch KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Near lots of New Hampshire scenic drives and tourist attractions. The nearby town of Bath, NH is a quaint New England village with an historic church, covered bridge, and general store that sells delicious fudge and smoked meats. The smoked bacon is fantastic! The National Forest Visitors center in North Woodstock has helpful staff who can help plan sightseeing, depending on the time available. They sell audio tour CD for $5 that tells what to see, as well as the history of the area.

Very nice campground in a beautiful area. The 100 acre wood campsites are in a hardwood forest-our stay was in the height of the fall color season. Our pull thru site was level. Friendly and helpful staff. We were escorted to our campsite. We camped at North Pole Resorts in a Travel Trailer.

Golden Hill State Park, Barker, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A wonderful state park. Our site backed up to Lake Ontario, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets! The restrooms are better and cleaner than many commercial campgrounds. There are only water and electric campsites, but the dump station is easy to access and has a long hose. The light house is really cool, with a very knowledgeable volunteer tour guide. Tips for other Campers:

About an hour drive to Niagara Falls. We would recommend staying here for the peace and quiet, then driving to see the sites in Niagara Falls. There are lots of fruit and vegetable stands in the area. Ask around about the new "Snapdragon" apples-the sweetest and cripest apple we ever ate! The "Oh Canada, Eh!" diner theatre in Niagara Falls , Ontario is a fun evenign, with good food and a very funny musical show!

Champlain Adult Campground, Grand Isle, Vermont

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful, "no frills" campground with large grassy sites and views of Lake Champlain. We enjoyed watching the nearby ferry going back and forth to New York. The owners are friendly and gracious hosts, it was like staying with old friends, even though we had never met before! The owner shared with us the best way to get to Montreal, and gave us tips on what to do and where to eat. This campground was one of the highlights of our trip.
