Fort Amarillo RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This park was a welcome stop along our travels from Balloon Fiesta to Nomadfest in Wellington. A cold front came through and it was great to re-group, do laundry, clean and stay warm. Front desk folks were very friendly and helpful. The Lizzie Mae gift shop is a great place to browse for the item one always needs in an RV, plus it has some Christmas items. Site was very level, large and long....no problem fitting our truck and fifth wheel, plus our extra vehicle and balloon trailer. We camped at Fort Amarillo RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Sandy Riverfront RV Resort, Troutdale, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Wish we could have stayed here longer, but alas the road beckoned. This is simply a beautiful resort along the Sandy River...easy to walk down to the river and experience the cool water on a hot summer day. My lab loved it! Resort is well laid out and we were lucky to have a river front site available...gorgeous view outside our back window. One note, there is a train track nearby, so there is that occasional interruption, but one will find that along most of the Columbia river Gorge. Since we were here for just one night, hubby didn't hook up the sewer etc, so for once we decided to use the resort showers.....boy was that a treat! Very clean and love the hot water and pressure. One travel note...we came from the east and directions took us off Exit 17 and routed us under a 13'10" railroad undercrossing. We didn't want to chance any overhead bump, so we used Exit 18 and which routed us through downtown Troutdale. We camped at Sandy Riverfront RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Caldwell Campground and RV Park, Caldwell, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a week (the nightly rate indicated above reflects that discounting). Not sure I would stay here again....there are a lot of permanent residents and it appears that not a lot of care goes into the outward appearance of the facility and spaces. We were lucky in that our pull through spot had a large green area next to it, but most spaces were fairly close to their neighbors. The laundry room was inexpensive but still kind of dirty. I was also surprised to see some folks still don't clean up after their pets----what is with that??? Water and power were good. The campground is fairly close to I-84 and there is the occasional train notices from across the freeway. We camped at Caldwell Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Three Island Crossing State Park, Glenns Ferry, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed two weeks and loved the park. Of course, it was during the hottest part of July/August, so running 2 a/c's on 30 amps was a near impossibility. There was vast expanses of green areas that are watered frequently and give the park an "open" feeling. This state park tends to fill up on the weekend with families and church groups, but all were clean and quiet. On site staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Definitely visit the Oregon trail interpretative center and also visit where the trail crosses the Snake River. Only drawback is no sewer, but there are 2 dump stations on the property. We camped at Three Island Crossing State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Iron Horse RV Resort, Elko, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed there at the park for two weeks and very much enjoyed the facilities. Several people live here full time and those folks appear to be maintaining their sites. Since this resort is close to I-80, a fair amount of folks come for just the night. Staff was very friendly and helpful; laundry room was clean and inexpensive. Greenbelt/grass areas are maintained and watered daily. I wish the pool was a little bigger (it was the size of a large spa). I did appreciate having doggie clean up stations throughout the park. As mentioned by other reviewers, occasionally, one can hear the train going by, but that is to be expected when traveling on a major thoroughfare. We camped at Iron Horse RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Since this resort is affiliated with the Hilton Garden inn (located next door), one can get passes for their pool and gym room. If you have time, visiting Lamoile Canyon is a must. Beautiful drive up to the end, plenty of photo opportunities. For those who want to have any work done on their Ford vehicles, there is a dealership next door (walking distance).

Diamond Lake RV Park, Diamond Lake, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We wanted to visit Crater lake and this RV resort fit the bill for being close by. For traveling reference, yes, there are challenges with computer directions....as long as you remember that this resort is on the southeast corner of Diamond Lake. Google maps directs you to the resort which is 3 miles north. The park is surrounded by trees and feels like one is communing with nature. There are a fair amount of mosquitoes during the "peak" time in morning and evening. AT&T reception is nonexistent and Verizon is spotty and overwhelmed. Water quality at this place is great because it comes from a natural spring and untreated. We filled up tank for boondocking before we left. We camped at Diamond Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

If you have bicycles, try to do the 11 mile loop around the lake...it was gorgeous. I had to stop several times for photo opportunities. The paved trail is easy to navigate and not hard to do.

Timber Valley SKP Park - Escapees Park (members only), Sutherlin, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

As SKP members, we really love this park. The sites are very large (50 by 70), which allows us to easily park our fifth wheel and truck along with our extra vehicle and hot air balloon trailer. The park is situated up against a mountain side, which makes it really quiet. Everyone is really nice and in fact this is the first time that someone came by our rig after setting up to "welcome us" to the park. The staff person gave us a list of activities, told us about the park/area and even a free "welcome gift." We had arrived when the office was closed, so there was a box out front with "available sites" to pick from. One can also set up in the boondocking area for $5 a night. Our daily rate reflected a 2 week stay. We would definitely stay here again on our travels through Oregon. We camped at Timber Valley SKP Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the best restaurants in the area is the Lighthouse Center Bakery in Umpqua. It is vegetarian based, but all is excellent. Sitting out on the patio is one of the highlights of the place....overlooking farmland and rolling hills.

Orman Guest Ranch & Stables, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Orman is a piece of heaven along the coast. Most of the other nearby RV facilities are just parking lots that charge a lot. Orman provides very large spots, though it is dry camping. Owner does provide clean out houses through out the park and water spigots are dispersed throughout the camping sites. We are self contained and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, clean and beautiful large spot that we are assigned to. Each site had a nice picnic table, fire pit and some wood in the site. One note...cell phone signal is a little challenged, though we have a booster which helped. We camped at Orman Guest Ranch & Stables in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Sawyer RV Resort, Black Diamond, Washington

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We needed to stay in the Seattle area for a job assignment and due to the lack of convenient RV parks in the area, we were lucky to find a spot at Lake Sawyer RV Resort. The best thing about this resort is the beautiful location on Lake Sawyer and proximity to various areas in the Seattle area. However, for the money, we found this resort to be lacking in serious maintenance. Patio tables were run down; laundry room is deplorable (leaking roof); community room (which was never open) was furnished with old furniture and equipment. Spaces are very tight and we noticed that folks couldn't even put out their awnings; uneven sites and no room for patio tables. There are a number of rigs there who obviously haven't been moved in years and as a result, moss and plants were growing on top. I am surprised that Sunrise Resorts, who have at least ten other resorts, is letting this resort fall into such disrepair. We camped at Lake Sawyer RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakeshore Villa RV Park, Lakehead, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Quick stop on our way to the Northwest. We came after closing time and the owner saw us and opened up the office to check us in; he was very nice. Since we were only staying one night, they gave us a very large pull through site which could accommodate our fifth wheel/truck and extra vehicle. We camped at Lakeshore Villa RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pecan Valley RV Park, Junction, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Experienced a truck breakdown on our trip out west....so we limped to the nearest RV Park and luckily it was the folks at Pecan Valley. They had a very large pull through spot for us. The site was level and clean...they even provided extra leveling boards (just in case). Not much in the way of amenities, but the river is close by. There is a large pecan orchard on the property and it makes for a nice evening walk with the many deer that visit. We camped at Pecan Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cajun Palms RV Resort, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first stop on our cross country trip from Texas to Georgia and it was the right pick for a one night stay. We were impressed with the check in process, including the high covered portico. This is a large resort and a lot of RV spaces, but it was easy to maneuver into our spot. Spaces are semi close to each other but since there is a lot of slant to the sites, it doesn't feel "too close." We would definitely consider staying here again, especially if we planned on staying longer since there was so many amenities. We camped at Cajun Palms RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Allatoona Landing Campground, Cartersville, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

When I made the reservation, I indicated that we had a 40ft. fifth wheel. Unfortunately, due to traffic going through Atlanta, we arrived after dark, and learned that the spot were assigned to had several "challenges." Firstly, the spot was uneven and exactly 45 feet long and no maneuvering room from the access street to correctly align the rig. Also, the electric box was at the back of the site, so the RV couldn't overhang. Then after a lengthy maneuvering time, we were ready to hook up and then noticed that there was no water hookup next to site!!! So the next morning, we went to get a longer hose so that we could hook up to the empty site next to us. We did learn some lessons on this campground stay: review the site and accessibility first. If not acceptable, then move to an empty spot. Lastly, be prepared to be woken up by a very active train track nearby. We camped at Allatoona Landing Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Payne's RV Park, Theodore, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We were on a cross country trip for the Thanksgiving weekend, so we arrived after sunset and left fairly early the next day. This is an older park with gravel roads and plenty of grass. Sites were level and spacing between sites were acceptable. One note is that they don't accept credit cards (cash only) and no WIFI available. We camped at Payne's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
