Topsail Hill State Preserve, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is definitely a great place to camp. We camped at site 164, a back in. Cement pad, picnic table, full hookup, including cable. Our verizon signal was 3 bars for our hot spot. Excellent shade. The volunteers running the park are outstanding ! Polite, pleasant, professional. Addn'l parking spaces are available if needed. The beach here is a notch over anything we've seen (and we come from a great beach in Saint Augustine). The shuttle runs every 1/2 hr and couldn't be more convenient. You can transport your tent, chairs, etc w/o a problem. The sand is like sugar and the water is delightful. This place is definitely a keeper; just wish it were easier to get in because it's so popular; but that's what happens when you have a great product ! We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Route 30 A (the road Topsail in on) is a delightful ride; about 17 miles long. Every few miles there is another housing development each with its own shopping area to walk around in. "Shunk Gully" restaurant just a few miles down from Topsail has a great 2nd floor looking out over the water. We sat at the bar; once for dinner and once for lunch. Good food, friendly bar people. Recommended.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Madison, Madison, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

First and foremost understand this park is for the kids. At $ 56.00/nightly, it's no bargain and quality is margineable. No cable. If you have kids the $ 56 is just the beginning as you must buy into the kids activities. (I don't know the pricing, as I have no kids). I'm writing this as an over 55er, so that's my perspective. Close to I-10; not too noisy given the location. Gravel/dirt sites, not all that level, really not long enough to park w/o unhitching. I did, as this was just an overnight, but I kind of stuck out a bit in the front and a bit in the back. The earth surrounding the gravel is mostly sand that, when moist, is muddy. We had mud all over the interior of our coach. "Good Sam" park but they won't give you the discount if you're there for just one night. Check in personnel not friendly, but not rude either. One bad thing was "flies". They were all over the place outside. Don't know what was drawing them, as we ate inside, but outside we had to cover our drinks rather than have them infested with the flies. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Madison in a Travel Trailer.

Endless Summer RV Park, Naples, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Great little park. The management were excellent. Very accommodating and pleasant to be with. Narrow sites, but sufficient. Many full timers there, but friendly. My only complaint was only 1 bar on my Verizon, where we were in the park, which eliminated the use of my hot spot (even outside my RV). Wifi at the clubhouse had what appeared to be a narrow bandwidth, which compounded the problem. I would have given it 5 stars other than this. I would stay again. We camped at Endless Summer RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Meaher State Park, Spanish Fort, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We missed the park on our first pass by the day we checked in, but had no problem finding it after that. The Pros: Nice layout, excellent location(incredible sunsets), spacious sites, concrete pads were level, plenty of parking for the tow vehicle. heated restrooms and showers that were also immaculate. The only con was there was no wifi or cable, but my Verizon hot spot took care of the wifi and there were plenty of local stations receivable from there. Neither would be a deal breaker. We'd go back any time we were in the area. The staff was also extremely accommodating. The staff took care of us when we arrived and checked on us periodically to make sure all was well. She was really a delight. We camped at Meaher State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tallahassee RV Park, Tallahassee, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here twice in one week. Once on the way to Mobile and once on the way home. Pros: Place was very clean and well kept. Rest rooms and showers were also clean and well kept. The staff was extremely accommodating. Cons: rest rooms and showers were not heated which on a day with 38 degrees overnight can be pretty chilly in the morning. The fact that there were only two was really not an issue. I never had to wait ( maybe it was too cold). The RV spaces were extremely close together - the closest I've been exposed to. I think in really good weather the close proximity of the next trailer could be an issue. The was little room to maneuver between my water inlet side and the people next door. Once I was hooked up it became a non issue. The sites were gravel and not level at all. We were at a site in the front that had reasonably extensive slope after the front of the trailer. That just made the hitching up process in the morning more difficult, but not impossible. I think for the price charged there should be less "cons". Despite the pros, there were enough cons that if I pass this way again, I'll look around for another park. We camped at Tallahassee RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
