Orchard Queen Motel & RV Park, Middleton, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Of the 60 sites 50 are seasonal. The park is small but the sites are average in size. If you are over 30 feet long you night find it a bit tight exiting your site if the campgrounds is busy. The grounds and all facilities were very neat and tidy as were the seasonal campers. Had a very strong and fairly fast WiFi. You are almost right down town Middleton but far enough from the street to miss the street noise, in fact we found the park to be VERY quiet at night. With all this being said, if we were in the area again, we would most likely stay here. We camped at Orchard Queen Motel & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Dollar Lake Provincial Park, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice enough campground with huge, well-spaced sites and wooded lots for excellent privacy. The bathrooms/showers were clean and a short walk from most camp sites in Loop A. Note none of the campsites have any services. Our site was just a short walk from the public beach along a well maintained gravelled trail and the campers beach had a rustic trail to the beach. The public beach had lifeguards but none at the campers beach. Many of the camp sites were better suited for tents or small trailers, but the few larger lots had still had lots of space but were grassy on uneven ground. If you own a large trailer/5thwheel/motor home I would like you to be aware the roads can be washboard and dusty in the Park, but the paved road from highway 102 to the campground turn off was in very good shape. We would return to this campgrounds again but it is not on the top of our list, but our 8 year old granddaughter who was with us loved it. One final note cell services is hit and miss within the park. We camped at Dollar Lake Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Laurie Provincial Park, Grand Lake, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We camper in this park for 2 nights, the park is small with only 60 or so sights of which only a few 15 or 20 will accommodate larger trailers. The park is also self check in via an on site "yellow" phone or online. None of the campsites have power or water. The comfort station is very clean and lost of hot water for the free showers. The lots are well spaced and most for larger trailers have lots of space. Most all sites have lots of shade. The roads in the park are paved but the camp sites are a mix of gravel and grass. There are some short walking trails in the area and it is an easy walk to the lake. We also found the campground to be very quite even though it was busy. In short we will plan to return to this campground again in the future. We camped at Laurie Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful campgrounds, with large lots in loop A, close to the beach and loop A now has 30 AMP service. Renfrew Camping and Golf, Nine Mile River, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I do not like giving bad reviews based on just one visit but have been to this campgrounds several times over the span of several years. Why did return several times you ask, it is close to home and almost always has space available on short notice. First and foremost the sessionals are very friendly and this campground has so much potential with a little work. The campground driveway is always rough, the campground needs lots of general maintenance, grass is often long and when someone complained they tried to mow on the weekend when the grass was wet, dump station...... well I think we can drop the station. The campground owners do try and try and do some maintenance but it is often too little too late. The owners might benefit from taking some public relations training and understand they are sitting on what could be one of the best best campgrounds in the greater Halifax area instead of resting on what was given to them from family. I give it a 3 only because the seasonals are so friendly and the campground has so much potential. We camped at Renfrew Camping and Golf in a Fifth Wheel.
