Haworth Park, Bellevue, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

It's close to the bank of the Missouri River. Wifi was fine at 4 AM but during the day it was so slow I could not even bring up an app so I used my cell instead. There are three camp areas and they are not marked with road signs. I visited two of them before finding my area. They could put up a sign at the main intersection of the areas. We camped at Haworth Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Bellevue bridge is next to the park - a very old and somewhat narrow bridge. My navi system routed me to the bridge coming off of I-29. It is easily avoidable (route 75 connects with I-80) which I did on other trips during my stay. The bridge charge was $2.00 for my car and double-axle trailer. Vehicles wider than 10' require an assistance vehicle.

McGreer Camper Park, Big Springs, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

I was the only camper there. I was surprised by that. It is on a working farm. The owner was away when I arrived but left a note to pick a spot. She returned later and was very nice. We camped at McGreer Camper Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The town is very, very small. Ogallala is 20 miles away and has a variety of restaurants and shops. It is right off I-80 and easy to find.

Walnut Woods State Park, West Des Moines, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little campground near the bank of the Racoon River. Unfortunately the river is not viewable from the campground. The sites on the west side of the camp do not have good drainage and if it rains, expect large puddles. Also, the concrete pads are not as large as in most of the campground. We camped at Walnut Woods State Park in a Travel Trailer.

American Buffalo Resort, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The park is within a Lodgepole pine bit of forest which is very nice. I passed tons of other parks where rigs were baking in the sun. The shade and forest feeling was great. It has new owners who took posession March of 2018. Very nice people. The park can use some work and I think the new owners will do that. Some of the roads have ruts. The road in front of the spot I was in was rutty and backing in rocked my trailer quite a bit so things inside got jostled. The owner assisted with backing me in and could see how it rocked the trailer. The next day he spread gravel and evened out the ruts. Great location as it is between Mt. Rushmore and Rapid City and travel is quick. Some sites have electic and water and I believe all are gravel pads. More expensive sites have full hook-ups. Some have concrete pads and others gravel so ask specifics about the site you will be in. Wifi was free and solid. Not that speedy but solid. We camped at American Buffalo Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are a ton of things to do and see in this Black Hills area. A nice 1/2 day trip is to drive to Sturgis (amazingly quiet when it is not rally time) and on to Spearfish. Leaving Spearfish, take the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway. It is a gorgeous drive with really nice waterfall (Bridal Veil Falls). There is a nice hike up Iron Creek which is a few miles past Bridal Veil Falls. Look for a car pullout on the west side and a sign stating Iron Creek.

Justin's Diamond J RV Park, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed there for a week and the office was never open (I stopped by nearly a dozen times) nor was there any information on how to contact management or if they would be in the office at specific hours. I have never experienced anything like this. They noted a row to park in until you could be assigned a spot by management. After two days, I just picked a spot. The WiFi code listed was not correct so had to use my cell phone as a hot spot (and will be paying for more data this month because I could not get onto their 'free' WiFi). There was an area for miniature golf and other activities. Putters and balls were there but the Astro turf was so torn up, it was not playable. This RV park is by far the most mismanaged I have been to. We camped at Justin's Diamond J RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park), Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Very spacious spots. Most have a good sized patch of grass and a tree separating the spots. Very good wifi. The night before I was leaving, I was dumping the tanks as I would leave before the light. One of the workers was leaving for the day and stopped to ask if everything was ok. He said he did not want to leave if I was having problems. Wow, that really impressed me. Cable TV was free. We camped at Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, Santee, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed in the Williow Creek loop and it was very noisy with kids yelling and playing, dogs barking (I have a dog) and adults using outdoor voices late into the evening. It is a family oriented park. We camped at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA, Desert Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Surprisingly, the park was only about 1/3rd full so few RVs were parked on top of each other. Plenty of things like mini golf, shuffleboard, pool, etc. Only drawback I came across was low water pressure which made taking a shower in my RV less satisfying. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Apache Palms RV Park, Tempe, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Spaces are very tight with not much room between. Wi-Fi very poor (at 6am I had to use my cell phone hotspot to write this). Location is convenient by light rail but lots of sirens on weekend nights and is also next to an auto repair shop with associated noise. No pet area ... just pavement and gravel; dogs are not supposed to pee on trees. We camped at Apache Palms RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
