Anchor Down RV Resort, Dandridge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 6th stay at this top-shelf RV resort. We have been coming here since they first opened and they just keep adding on and getting better and better. They now have an awesome dog park, a basketball / pickle ball court, a white sand beach at their lake front with a couple of huge blowup slides. They have also added a concessionaire near the pool and lake that offer sandwiches and ice cream, etc. A first class RV resort that is extremely popular. You better book early if you want to stay here or you'll be out of luck. We camped at Anchor Down RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Roan Mountain State Park, Roan Mountain, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Overall, the park is very nice. Cell service is non existent however the park has an excellent wi-fi service. If you are in a big rig or pulling a large 5th Wheel or Travel Trailer that is more than 25 feet in length, AVOID the upper loop. We called ahead to advise that we would be late arrivals and were instructed to go left of the campground office, which takes you to the upper loop. The road is paved but narrow and winding and dead ends at a bathhouse / restroom at the top of the hill, which has a very narrow drive that goes around it. We sustained an estimated $10K in damage to our motorhome getting out of that area. Later, we discovered that we should have been directed to the RIGHT just past the campground office, which takes you to the lower loop where large rigs and the tent camping areas are. The rig sites are all paved and a fairly spaced apart, with decent water pressure and numerous trees. We camped at Roan Mountain State Park in a Motorhome.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Clean RV Park, with easy access off of I-30 in North Little Rock. Generally, sites are mostly level concrete pads with full hookups, however, there are a few gravel sites with water and electric only. There is an easily accessible dump station for those that need it. Water pressure is adequate. Every other site on the edge of the river actually face the river making for a nice view. There are only a few trees on site offering some shade. On-site office staff was helpful and friendly. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a paved, approximately 2.1 mile paved loop that includes walking over an old railroad bridge. The Verizon Center, where concerts are often held, is about a quarter of a mile easy walk. There is also a war museum just west and outside of the RV park that has a submarine that you can tour. A marina is located immediately outside the park and has rentals available. Due to the excessive heat, we were unable to take advantage of many of the sites.

Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Quality, high dollar RV resort, impeccably maintained. Friendly and efficient staff and service. Unfortunately, we experienced an unexpected ice and snow storm while we stayed which greatly limited what we were able to do. All sites are privately owned. We camped at Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort in a Motorhome.

Santee State Park, Santee, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is recovering from a recent hurricane so there were still some "rough edges" to deal with. All sites have water and 20, 30 and 50 amp hookups. Unfortunately, sewer hookups are not available but there is a dump station. The roads in the campground are all asphalt with site numbers painted in front of each site, in addition to being on the power pedestal. All sites are mostly level, crushed gravel. We had a back-in site although there are a few pull-thru sites. Over-the-air TV viewing is limited and with lots of trees, satellite viewing may be questionable. Park staff were friendly and helpful. There is a large lake adjacent to the campground that provides a great view. We will stay again when back in the area. We were in a motorhome with a towed vehicle. We camped at Santee State Park in a Motorhome.

Ferne Clyffe State Park, Goreville, Illinois

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at this state park on numerous occasions. It was clean but sparsely populated with other campers, which is not unusual once the leaves have dropped. Our site was an easy, pull-thru site and we utilized the 50-amp hookup. The shower house is closed from about Thanksgiving until the next Spring. It's fairly easy to get in and out of this park although there are a few tight turns in places that large rigs will have to watch for. We recommend this campground. Note: There is currently less than a dozen sites that have 50-amp availability while the rest have 30-amp. We camped at Ferne Clyffe State Park in a Motorhome.
