Buffalo RV Park, Buffalo, North Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely little community park. It is self-register and payment on the honor system. Each packed gravel site was pretty level and came with full hookups, a fire ring, picnic table and your very own trash can. The town itself is neat as a pin and if you walk around you will find a series of historical markers in front of certain buildings, a very nice memorial to local service members and a small park with horseshoe pits. It is perfect for an overnight stay or perhaps longer if you need some peace and quiet. We camped at Buffalo RV Park in a Motorhome.

St. Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA, St Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has serious problems. If you reserve online you will not know any of this until you get here and by then you will have limited options. Where to begin? Our surge protector indicated a fault on one of the electric lines. When I notified the office, they offered me either 10% off or the phone number of the other campgrounds in town. The dump station was scary - the drain was under water. Couldn't even tell you how far under because you couldn't see through the brown water. Again, notified the owner. He tried to insist it was fine, you just needed to open the cap. Seriously? Who was going to reach down through that water to find it? And if it wasn't draining, where would all that new sewage go? When we walked back around later, there was a sign saying the dump station was out of service. They informed me at check-in that they were renovating the bathrooms and there was only one operable. Literally one. With a sign saying it was Unisex and for safety you should lock the door when using. And it was filthy to boot. No cable TV (per sign behind check-in desk), no pool. I could have stayed in a Walmart parking lot and gotten the same amenities. The KOA website makes it sound like it is totally renovated for 2018. Not even close. I would never stay here again. The only reason I gave it a star was because the site was level. We camped at St. Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Agree with prior reviews. Beautifully landscaped and cared for. For $10 they will allow you to wash your rig at your site with your hose - we made use of that. OTA cable was very clear with lots of channels. Train and highway both nearby, as are restaurants and gas. Mammoth Cave about 20 minute drive. We camped at Cave Country RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Taylorsville Lake State Park Campground, Taylorsville, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Such a beautiful, well-kept park. The only issue is lack of connectivity. The sites all appear pretty level and are quite spacious. It was a convenient base for visiting both Louisville and Lexington. We camped at Taylorsville Lake State Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Barkcamp State Park, Belmont, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Nice and quiet. Not full while we were there. Asphalt pads were not in great shape in Loop B where we were. They looked to be better in Loop A. Pretty easy access for a big rig in both Loops. Water pressure and temperature were good in the Women's shower. In the Men's, you had to keep pushing a button to keep the flow going and the hot water was a mere trickle. We camped at Barkcamp State Park in a Motorhome.

StoneyBrook RV REsort, Lehighton, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park mostly filled with seasonals. There was a pool but, due to the lingering cold weather, I don't believe it was open yet. It was quiet, well-kept and all the staff that I spoke to were very nice and helpful. There were two washers and 3 dryers in the coin-operated laundry. Our first site required that we level with the front tires on blocks so we requested, and were granted, a change in site on the second morning. The internal roads are easy to navigate, but I would suggest big rigs bypass the first sign at Germans Rd (if you are coming west on 895), go to Lauchnor Rd and backtrack a bit. Germans Rd is very rough and there is a weight limit of 10 tons on part of it. Lauchnor Rd was in much better shape. Shopping and restaurants are not really convenient. We camped at StoneyBrook RV REsort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Giant store and fast food restaurants on Rt 443 in Lehighton. Lizard Creek Pub on 895 doesn't look like much from the outside but the drinks and wings were good with other food just barely OK. Bowmanstown Diner at intersection of 895 and 248 for passable diner food. Otherwise pretty slim pickings for restaurants.

Saugerties / Woodstock KOA, Saugerties, New York

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

I do like this park and would have rated it higher except for the low water pressure. It is quiet and peaceful and the owners are very nice and helpful. The park roads are a bit tight, but doable - we were able to get around with a 40' MH + toad. The site was reasonably level, hard-packed gravel and fortunately a bit raised with a slope to the back so that we had no issues with puddling during a full day of rain. Our site was more than long enough for the MH and toad and probably could have fit another camper in there with us. It was too early in the season for any activities so I can't comment on the amenities. The showers were clean but the very low water pressure existed there as well. I would stay here again if passing through the area. We camped at Saugerties / Woodstock KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take a hike to Kaaterskill Falls or browse through the shops in Woodstock. There is a nice little hiking trail in Falling Waters Preserve that takes you down along the Hudson.

Normandy Farms, Foxboro, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Just about impossible to find anything wrong with this park. Water pressure was great. Everything was very clean, including the dumpsters, LOL! Showers are heated, individual, locking rooms. I used the laundry and that also was very clean. We were there in a 40' MH just after they opened for the season. There are a lot of activities, but we did not make use of them. It is very family oriented with lots of kids, so if I were to come back, I'd do it out of season. We camped at Normandy Farms in a Motorhome.
